Chapter 547: The Giant Cauldron Blocks the Cave Entrance
Ye Qianning’s dagger slashed from the man’s feet to his knees, then to his waist. The blade was sharp and her movements were swift. In the blink of an eye, the legs of the black-clad man fighting before her were a mangled mess of flesh and blood.
His legs buckled, and he collapsed to his knees. Ye Qianning seized the opportunity. The moment he knelt, she unleashed a volley of silver needles.
Startled, the black-clad man behind him raised his longsword to parry the attack.
Ye Qianning abandoned the needles, spun around, and ran toward Sang Zhi.
Chu Yue sensed a chilling aura and turned to meet a pair of bloodthirsty eyes. In an instant, a wave of killing intent enveloped her.
The scent of death made her gasp, as if she had one foot in the grave.
However, that flicker of instinctual fear would cost her dearly.
"AARGH..."
A heart-rending scream echoed through the cave.
Ye Qianning’s dagger plunged into her left eye, and blood spurted forth.
"I told you," she said, her voice glacial as killing intent radiated from her in waves. "You wanted his eyes, so I’m taking yours."
The oppressive aura made her seem like a child who had just walked out of hell itself.
A martial artist is extremely sensitive to auras. If one shows even a flicker of instinctual fear in the face of a powerful presence, they can never hope to defeat their opponent.
Sang Zhi stared in horror at the ice-cold Ye Qianning. The sheer force of her aura was suffocating and oppressive, making his very heart tremble.
"Princess!" the black-clad men cried out.
Chu Yue clutched her eye, blood streaming from between her fingers.
Ye Qianning snatched a large saber from the ground, pulled the stunned Sang Zhi to his feet, and bolted.
"Kill... Kill her... KILL HER!" Her manic, enraged shrieks were ear-splitting in the narrow cave.
Sang Zhi felt his fingers wrapped around her ice-cold hand. He watched the small figure pulling him along, and then suddenly tightened his grip, as if hoping the warmth of his palm could dispel the chill that clung to her.
Ye Qianning felt the change and glanced back at him. Her voice, though still icy, was clearly softer now. "Don’t be afraid."
"I’m not afraid," Sang Zhi said with conviction, though he was gasping for air.
Ye Qianning managed a faint smile, though it wasn’t a pretty sight.
Chu Yue’s furious, piercing screams continued to echo behind them. The black-clad men were closing in fast, and they were still hundreds of meters from the platform.
At this rate, they weren’t going to make it.
After a moment’s thought, Ye Qianning skidded to a halt.
Completely out of breath, Sang Zhi looked up at her in confusion.
"Get back."
Ye Qianning pushed Sang Zhi behind her. Then, with a flick of her hand, she pulled a great cauldron from her personal space, placing it across the cave path.
The cauldron was massive and heavy. It was too wide to be placed horizontally, but when wedged diagonally, it blocked the entire cave path. The remaining gap at the top was too small for an adult to climb through.
As the great cauldron materialized out of thin air, a wave of dizziness washed over Ye Qianning, and a queasy feeling churned in her stomach.
The moment the cauldron appeared, a brilliant light flared, like a flash of lightning.
Sang Zhi’s vision blurred. He stared, wide-eyed, as the behemoth of a cauldron materialized out of nowhere. It was like he was hallucinating. He rubbed his eyes. "You... What... How is there a cauldron...?"
"Never mind that, let’s go!" Ye Qianning turned and pulled him toward the platform.
The cauldron was tough; it should hold them off for a while in the narrow cave.
The pursuing black-clad men saw the blocked path and their eyes widened in shock. It wasn’t a rock, but a gigantic cauldron. ’Where did it come from?’
"Why have you stopped? I want them dead!" Chu Yue shrieked, clutching her eye, her face a mask of blood.
"Princess, the path is blocked," one of them said. The men all pressed themselves against the wall, making way for her.
Chu Yue squeezed her way to the front. A great cauldron stood there, blocking most of the cave’s opening.
"A cauldron? Where did it come from?"
For such a massive cauldron to appear out of nowhere in a cave... it was beyond bizarre.
