Chapter 546: Powerless to Truss a Chicken
"I—"
"Shut up. Save your strength."
Sang Zhi didn’t even get to finish his sentence before Ye Qianning snapped at him. He pursed his lips, a wronged expression covering his small face.
Hearing the sounds behind them growing closer, Ye Qianning let go of Sang Zhi’s hand. "Run on ahead. Wait for me at the platform up front."
"No! If we’re going, we’re going together," Sang Zhi said urgently.
"Just go! I’ll be right behind you."
"I’m not going."
"You don’t even have the strength to truss a chicken. What good will you be if you stay? Hurry up!" ’If a fight breaks out, I might not be able to protect him.’
"But... but... I’m older than you." Sang Zhi stepped in front of her, glaring fiercely ahead.
"They’re... here." With no time for more words, Ye Qianning grabbed Sang Zhi’s arm, flung him back with all her might, and swung her broadsword out in the same motion.
TING!
The sound of sharp weapons clashing rang out. A dagger fell to the ground. As Ye Qianning looked up, Chu Yue and her entourage came into view.
Sang Zhi was sent reeling from the throw. His gaze swept from the fallen dagger to Ye Qianning’s back, his heart filled with astonishment.
’She actually knows kung fu! And for someone so small to be able to wield such a large broadsword...’
"Let’s see where you can run now." Chu Yue’s eyes glinted sharply.
Ye Qianning opened her small hand, and the broadsword fell to the ground with a CLANG.
Seeing this, Chu Yue broke into a smile. "What? Giving up so soon?"
"You want Sang Zhi’s eyes, don’t you?" A smile played on Ye Qianning’s lips as well.
"So what if I do?" Chu Yue looked at the tiny person before her. ’I could probably crush her with a single finger.’
’The hidden guards she boasted about must have been a bluff. Otherwise, why wouldn’t they have shown themselves by now, with her pushed into a corner like this?’
Ye Qianning took a step forward.
"Princess, be careful."
"It’s nothing."
One of the men in black moved to step forward, but Chu Yue stopped him. ’Just how skilled could a six-year-old be, even if she knows a little kung fu?’
"Ye Qianning."
Sang Zhi called her name and started to move forward, but he froze after a single step. He saw that a short dagger had appeared in the small hand she held behind her back.
Ye Qianning advanced slowly, one step at a time, stopping just two paces from Chu Yue. "You want his eyes? Then I’ll take yours."
"Oh? HAHAHA! You want this princess’s eyes...?"
"Princess, look out!"
In an instant, Ye Qianning’s figure vanished. She reappeared in front of Chu Yue in the blink of an eye, the short dagger stabbing viciously downward.
Chu Yue reacted quickly, barely dodging the attack. The dagger grazed her cheek, and bright red blood dripped down her face.
She raised a hand to her face, her expression twisting with rage. "I’m going to tear you limb from limb!"
Her first strike having failed, Ye Qianning spun around and lunged at the men in black, her eyes glinting with a cold, murderous light.
The man in black closest to her drew his longsword to block her attack. At the same time, the others moved as one, launching a coordinated assault.
Seeing her men had Ye Qianning occupied, Chu Yue made a move for Sang Zhi.
Sang Zhi had never studied martial arts. He tried to pick up Ye Qianning’s broadsword but found he couldn’t even budge it, despite using all his strength.
Chu Yue, knife in hand, only wanted to gouge out Sang Zhi’s eyes as quickly as possible.
In the close-quarters combat inside the cave, Ye Qianning had the advantage. The cave mouth was only as tall as a grown man and not wide enough for two people to stand abreast.
In such a cramped space, a longsword offered no advantage.
Ye Qianning’s small, agile body gave her an edge. Her short dagger was incredibly effective. The tiny figure was a whirlwind of motion, her flashing blade targeting her opponents’ lower bodies.
The men in black were forced back again and again. Their longswords were useless, so they resorted to fists and feet. But the small figure opposite them was as slippery as an eel; every time they thought they had a hold on her, they would end up with another stab wound for their efforts.
