Chapter 73 - 72: Tang Yi Arrives at Yangsha Ancient Dao
"So, you’re choosing the hard way?"
The Silver Robed Martial Artist of the Wolf Heaven Mercenary Corps narrowed his eyes and said coldly.
Just then, a sharp retort came from within the carriage. "I’m not drinking anything, toast or penalty. How dare you threaten me? Who the hell do you think you are!"
"You’re courting death!"
The Silver Robed Martial Artist, who wore a black robe, flew into a rage. However, he didn’t attack immediately. He glanced at Feng Hua, the leader who was holding the line. Only after receiving Feng Hua’s silent approval did his figure flash as he charged toward the Beast Vehicle.
He was just about to leap onto the Beast Vehicle and tear open the carriage’s curtain.
But just then, a figure shot out from the carriage. He swiftly threw a punch, blasting it toward the charging Silver Robed Martial Artist from the Wolf Heaven Mercenary Corps.
BANG!
"AH!"
Although the Silver Robed Martial Artist, who possessed the power of a Battle Spirit, tried to block the blow, he was sent flying by the figure’s single punch. He had no power to resist whatsoever!
From that single blow, his body flew more than ten meters before crashing to the ground, his condition unknown.
With a WHOOSH, the figure that had shot out from the carriage returned to its interior.
His movements were exceptionally fluid and the entire process was incredibly fast. Sending the Silver Robed Martial Artist flying with a single punch seemed as easy as breathing, utterly effortless.
"A Battle King!"
The members of the Wolf Heaven Mercenary Corps finally reacted, realizing the strength of the person inside the carriage.
Who would have thought? The person in the carriage was actually a Battle King!
Only a Battle King could send a Silver Robed Martial Artist flying so easily with a single punch!
With a Battle King making an appearance, Feng Hua could no longer remain on the sidelines. He stepped out from among his black-robed men, faced the carriage, and asked in a low voice, "And who might you be?"
"Hmph!"
"You’re asking me? I should be asking you! The entire Western Domain is under the jurisdiction of the West Mansion, yet in broad daylight, you dare to block this road. Do you have any respect for the West Mansion at all?" the man in the carriage retorted coldly, his voice filled with fury.
"Heh, don’t slap such a heavy label on us. We’re merely looking for someone. We have no intention of disrespecting the West Mansion. And while it’s true the West Mansion governs the Western Domain, does its authority extend to the untamed wilds? We’re hardly in the middle of a city," Feng Hua retorted with a smile.
"Be that as it may, you need to leave at once. Don’t congregate here for your little cloak-and-dagger affairs! Otherwise, don’t blame me for taking action to expel you myself!" the man in the carriage said.
"And by what authority do you plan to expel us? Heh, you..."
Feng Hua paid him no mind. But before he could finish speaking, he saw Uncle Shi, who was seated at the front of the Beast Vehicle, produce a Token. Inscribed upon it were two words: "West Mansion."
Seeing this Token, Feng Hua was stunned. "You’re from the West Mansion?"
’I can’t believe we ended up stopping someone from the West Mansion.’
"Correct! I am Wang Zongyao of the West Mansion Inner Mansion, and I have been appointed as the Chief Examiner for Fengyue City, responsible for overseeing the qualification exam!"
Having announced his identity, Wang Zongyao spoke in a harsh tone. "Now that you know who I am, leave this place at once!"
"Heh heh." Feng Hua let out a cold laugh. He didn’t leave as Wang Zongyao commanded. Instead, he said, "We have no intention of making an enemy of the West Mansion. Since Lord Wang is a man of the Mansion, we will not bar your way. You may pass. However, as for your demand that we leave... my apologies. We have important business here, so we must refuse your order."
"You!" Wang Zongyao was furious. He couldn’t believe someone would dare defy his command even after he’d invoked the name of the West Mansion. He stepped out of the carriage.
At that moment, the crowd finally got a look at the true face of this Wang Zongyao from the West Mansion Inner Mansion.
He was a middle-aged man with a Square Face. His features were not particularly striking, but he possessed a grand air, the look of someone destined for great things.
"You still refuse to leave even after I’ve warned you. Do you think I’m afraid to act? I wonder what backing gives you such confidence?" Wang Zongyao said coldly, pointing at Feng Hua after emerging from the carriage.
"On the fact that I am a Two-star Battle King, while you are merely a One-star Battle King. If you weren’t a man of the West Mansion, you might have met your end here today," Feng Hua said slowly, narrowing his eyes without a trace of fear for Wang Zongyao.
The West Mansion was the supreme power in the Western Domain and not to be trifled with. However, Feng Hua and his men were all clad in Black Robes. Even if they angered Wang Zongyao, no one would know who they were. The West Mansion would have no one to retaliate against.
As long as they didn’t lay a hand on Wang Zongyao, the West Mansion was unlikely to launch a full-scale investigation. Therefore, Feng Hua had no fear of any retaliation.
"A Two-star Battle King! Such nerve! Good! Very good!" Wang Zongyao was so enraged he was rendered speechless. Ever since he had joined the West Mansion, when had anyone in the entire Western Domain dared to speak to him like that? And now, he’d finally met one.
’Someone who isn’t afraid of the West Mansion actually exists!’
Moreover, every one of these men in Black Robes was remarkably powerful. They were clearly not just a band of random rogues. He had no idea what Influence they belonged to. Though Wang Zongyao was furious, he knew his own strength was insufficient to deal with this group. He could only swallow his anger, resolving to investigate their identities later and settle the score.
With this in mind, Wang Zongyao shot Feng Hua a cold look, then turned to Uncle Shi and commanded, "Let’s go!"
Seeing Wang Zongyao about to depart, Feng Hua made no move to stop him, simply smiling as he watched him go.
SWISH SWISH SWISH!
Just then, a young man came sprinting from the distance at an incredible speed. He was even faster than a Three-headed Unicorn Thousand Extremes Horse at full gallop, a truly dazzling sight.
Tailing the young man was a small, yellow-patterned beast. The little creature was incredibly cute, and its Speed was so great that it actually managed to keep up with him.
Off to the side, Li Kuang spotted the young man and froze for a second, a flicker of recognition in his eyes. Then, his face lit up as he realized who it was. "He’s here!" he exclaimed in delight. "It’s him! Tang Yi is back!"
"Oh?" Feng Hua paused, his gaze following the rapidly approaching youth. A smile touched the corners of his lips. ’After waiting all this time, he’s finally back,’ he thought. ’This achievement is all mine!’
Wang Zongyao, who had been on the verge of leaving, noticed the reaction of the men in Black Robes and then glanced toward the distant youth. Doubt filled his heart. ’This group of powerful men in Black Robes, this whole big display... was it all just to wait for a single young man?’
’The young man’s Speed is indeed impressive, and his strength is likely considerable, but that’s it. Why would this group in Black Robes be looking for him?’
His curiosity piqued, Wang Zongyao didn’t have Uncle Shi drive the Beast Vehicle away. Instead, he had it pull to a stop more than ten meters off and began to watch discreetly.
...
After coaxing the Golden Blood Green-eyed Tiger into becoming his pet, Tang Yi had left the Wind Moon Forest and was heading back.
He needed to get back to the Tang Family before the West Mansion’s qualification exams began.
But as he entered the Yangsha Ancient Dao, he saw a group of men in Black Robes. And this group was blocking his path.
