Chapter 437 - 432: I Didn’t Come Here to Watch You Show Off
Taking advantage of his opponent’s daze, Du Youqian took a moment to regulate his breathing before smiling. "Still want to show me mercy?"
Zhou Haozhe remembered his earlier promise—that if Du Youqian surrendered without a fight, he would show mercy and allow his soul to reincarnate. Shame and fury now overwhelmed him, and he could barely contain it.
Every word and expression from Du Youqian felt like a slap to his face.
’But what can I do?’
’Can this fight even go on?’
He turned to look at Master Shi Shitao.
Among the six who could still fight, he and Master Shi Shitao had the highest Cultivation and were the strongest in Magical Combat.
But Master Shi Shitao’s silence and averted gaze made it clear that he had no intention of fighting to the death. He would only be looking for a way to escape.
’With that, what do we have left to fight with?’
’It seems this is the only way...’
Zhou Haozhe used Telepathy to send a message. "Brothers, our efforts today have failed, and our losses are severe. If we return like this, the Supreme Elders will not let us off easy. I implore you, we must risk it all to inflict a heavy blow on this scoundrel. Otherwise, none of us will be able to answer for this! The Binyin Sect cannot afford this humiliation. In the future, whenever this day is mentioned, none of us will be able to hold our heads high!"
The few remaining Core Formation Masters of the Binyin Sect looked at one another, feeling a raging battle lust rise within them.
Zhou Haozhe made a swift decision. "On my command, we all strike together! Use your most powerful Divine Abilities or Treasures. Attack!"
Three of the Core Formation Masters attacked without hesitation, truly unleashing their full power. It was the culmination of their several hundred years of cultivating the Dao, a mighty blow that even a Nascent Soul Early Stage Master would have to avoid!
But Zhou Haozhe and Master Shi Shitao only feinted, not immediately pressing their attack.
Another, a Kun Cultivator named Li Rui, didn’t move at all, a mocking glint in her eyes.
The three who had already attacked were like arrows loosed from a bow; they had no choice but to follow through.
Du Youqian hadn’t used his Array for a while, but now he activated it again, weakening their offensive by more than sixty percent. Only then did he calmly use his Small Seal to block the trio’s attacks.
Then, he used the Array to trap them for a moment.
The Jinhuan sword flew out again, but instead of targeting the three, it shot toward the Kun Cultivator. "Trying to be an opportunist? Why don’t you stay behind!"
The Kun Cultivator’s face paled in terror. "Brother Zhou, save me!" she screamed.
As the Flying Sword drew near, the Sword Intent radiating from it was like a bone-chilling frost.
Although several of her companions were still present, she felt no safety at all, as if she were facing a ferocious beast alone and completely exposed.
Cold!
A cold that shot up from the soles of her feet and into her very heart!
It was a cold so intense it twisted her pretty face into a grim, contorted mask.
Zhou Haozhe quickly sent a telepathic message to Master Shi Shitao: "Brother Shi, whatever your plans are, we must at least inflict a serious wound on this man. Otherwise, even if we escape, we won’t be able to avoid severe punishment from the Supreme Elders."
Master Shi Shitao quickly replied, "Just one strike. We wound him and we run. He still has cards he hasn’t played. Don’t for a second think he’s a spent force!"
"I know."
Having settled on a plan, just as Du Youqian’s sword sheared off half of the Kun Cultivator’s body, the two of them attacked. One wielded a Flying Sword, the other a Thunderbolt Cone, flanking him from both sides.
This time, they held nothing back, giving it their all and even using Secret Techniques to boost their power.
Their goal wasn’t to kill him, but simply to wound him before fleeing. If they ran without leaving even a scratch on Du Youqian, they would have no way to explain themselves upon their return!
As expected of Direct Inheritors from a Major Sect, their methods were truly exquisite. A regular Nascent Soul Early Stage Cultivator would have had to evade the attack for now; taking it head-on would risk injury.
Du Youqian was unaware of their inner thoughts.
He quickly made an assessment. Although the battle hadn’t lasted long, his energy consumption had been enormous.
If he used his Divine Abilities to tank their pincer attack, he might not have enough power left to kill the others.
So he made an instant decision. Ignoring Zhou Haozhe completely, he concentrated his full power and directed the Jinhuan sword to strike at Master Shi Shitao.
Master Shi Shitao was already scared witless by him. Now, spurred by the Sword Intent, the hairs on his body stood on end. He completely forgot his agreement with Zhou Haozhe; saving his own life was all that mattered. The Thunderbolt Cone, which had been pressing forward with unstoppable momentum, was forcefully switched from offense to defense.
"Tch!" Du Youqian scoffed. Jinhuan carved an arc through the air, stabbing toward Zhou Haozhe behind him.
That last strike had been a feint!
Only then did Master Shi Shitao understand, but it was too late.
Du Youqian’s full-powered sword strike met Zhou Haozhe’s head-on.

"TING!"
After the crisp ring, Zhou Haozhe’s Tier Three Treasure Level Flying Sword snapped in two. Zhou Haozhe froze on the spot, seemingly stunned.
But Master Shi Shitao could naturally sense that Zhou Haozhe’s life force was rapidly fading.
At that moment, the three sect members who had been trapped by Du Youqian’s Array were rushing to help, but Master Shi Shitao knew it was too late. Everything was too late.
He didn’t even try to inflict a minor wound on Du Youqian anymore. He turned and fled directly to the Flying Boat where Cai Min was, immediately activating it to escape.
The three remaining living Core Formation Masters of the Binyin Sect were stunned.
Brother Shi, a Golden Core Late Stage cultivator, had fled. Brother Zhou, at Golden Core Perfection, had been neatly cleaved in two from his forehead to his groin, his severed limbs and organs raining down like a shower of blood.
They had arrived as a mighty contingent of twelve Core Formation Masters, and now only the three of them were left?
The three exchanged a look and, without a word, started to flee, each making for a different Flying Boat.
At this point, they didn’t need to be the fastest—they just needed to be faster than their companions.
A few breaths later, two Flying Boats, trembling from having their power pushed to the maximum, fled into the distance. The unlucky one left behind was cut down by Du Youqian.
After looting the corpse, Du Youqian returned to the tavern, a frown on his face.
As for Fei Province and Lu Guiying, Sha Jiang had already brought them back to the tavern with utmost stealth. After some initial treatment from Ge Sheng, their conditions had stabilized.
All that remained was a slow recovery process that would take at least several years.
Sha Jiang leaped into his arms, acting cute and seeking praise. Du Youqian smiled and gave a few gentle scratches, but it didn’t improve his mood.
Ge Sheng asked cautiously, "Daoist Friend, are you seriously injured?"
Du Youqian nodded, then shook his head. "I’m alright. It’s not too serious. I’ll be fine after half a year of recuperation."
In truth, if he circulated his Divine Abilities, he could heal his injuries in an instant.
But he had no intention of doing so for now.
’When the Binyin Sect’s Nascent Soul Masters arrive in a fury, ready to kill me and avenge their disciples, I wonder what expressions they’ll make when they see my supposedly serious injuries heal in the blink of an eye?’
"Then why the long face, Daoist Friend?"
"Sigh," Du Youqian lamented. "I was planning to kill thirty of them. But now it seems I didn’t kill enough. After the next wave, once I kill one of their Nascent Souls, they’ll probably sue for peace."
"..." Ge Sheng cursed internally. ’I asked you out of genuine concern, not to watch you show off!’
* * *
When the defeated remnants of their forces returned to the Binyin Sect, the entire Sect was thrown into an uproar.
Not counting the two Core Formation vassals stationed at Four Directions Town, a full ten of the Binyin Sect’s Core Formation Masters had now fallen at Du Youqian’s hands. Among them were True Disciples and Sect Elders like Zhou Haozhe and Wang Ke.
And while Cai Min, who had been rescued, wasn’t crippled, from the looks of him, a Heart Demon had taken deep root. He would likely never have any hope of reaching the Nascent Soul Realm in this lifetime.
As for Master Shi Shitao, who had escaped with his life twice in a row, he had lost all trust. In the future, even if he were to spend his own money and contribution points to exchange for a Nascent Soul Pill or a Nascent Soul Spiritual Object, he would face obstruction.
Even Elder He Gui, who had been in seclusion for a long time, was startled by the news.
Of the three Nascent Soul Masters, He Gui had the highest Cultivation, already approaching the Nascent Soul Late Stage.
Everyone had actually been more optimistic about him being the first to advance to the Nascent Soul Late Stage, but Wen Wuxin had used certain methods to get ahead, resulting in an unstable foundation.
He Gui held some contempt for Wen Wuxin.
’An unstable foundation, flawed techniques... he couldn’t even use Heaven and Earth.’
After seeing Wen Wuxin’s fate, he became even less anxious to break through, preferring to build his foundation steadily.
Even now, as the Binyin Sect faced a crisis the likes of which hadn’t been seen in a millennium, he remained calm and composed.
After interrogating Master Shi Shitao, He Gui summoned Chi Feng and Qie Heng to discuss the matter.
"For now, our only option is to kill that young villain swiftly to salvage some of our reputation. Afterward, we must seal the sect for at least two hundred years until a new generation of Core Formation disciples has matured. Only then can we open our gates again."
He Gui set the tone with that single statement.
"Who will go kill him?" Chi Feng really didn’t want to do it himself. Even if he won, he’d be cursed for being a senior bullying a junior—and if he lost, it would be even more humiliating.
Qie Heng was eager to volunteer, but He Gui shook his head. "Could you kill nine out of twelve Core Formation Disciples while they besieged you?"
Qie Heng was momentarily speechless.
He was only at the Nascent Soul Early Stage. Even if he paid a great price, it would be extremely difficult for him to achieve such a feat.
Not impossible, but incredibly difficult.
He Gui glanced at Chi Feng. "Elder Chi, you will stay and guard the sect."
Then he said to Qie Heng, "We will go together. You will provide support."
Chi Feng said, displeased, "He’s merely a Golden Core Late Stage cultivator. How could we trouble you, Elder He, to act personally? Even if you kill him, it will be hard to erase the negative impact. The other powers will still mock us. If a mere little thief in the Golden Core Realm requires the First Supreme Elder of our Binyin Sect to step in, what reputation will our Sect have left!"
"Reputation, reputation, that’s all you care about," He Gui shook his head in frustration. "Have you ever considered what would happen if you or Qie Heng went alone and not only failed to kill him but were killed by him instead? How would our Sect face that situation? There are so many forces around us, watching like tigers. If that truly happened, I fear our Sect would be in immediate danger of collapse!"
"Hmph!" Anger flashed across Chi Feng’s handsome, almost feminine face. "Killed by him? Are you joking, Brother He? If I take action, he won’t escape death."
Qie Heng was displeased. He believed the gap between himself and Chi Feng wasn’t large.
’If I can’t do it,’ he thought, ’I’m sure Chi Feng can’t do it either.’
He Gui didn’t want to argue with Chi Feng. "Since you’re unwilling to go, then stay and guard the sect."
Chi Feng stood up, flicked his sleeves, and stormed out.
He Gui was also annoyed but didn’t try to stop him. He only conferred with Qie Heng, and they finally agreed to set out together the next day to kill the young villain.
