Chapter 503 - 248: Subduing
The squad members’ whispers clearly reached Mo Ling’Er’s ears.
"Senior Sister Qin?"
"What is she to that little rascal?"
Mo Ling’Er’s beautiful eyes narrowed slightly, a sharp glint flashing through them.
’It doesn’t matter who she is. I’m the only one who can be the main wife!’
Seeing Mo Ling’Er actually leave Mingcan Courtyard, the woman opposite her felt a sense of relief. She quickly pulled out her phone and dialed Zhao Rui’s number.
"Xiaosu, is something wrong?"
Zhao Rui’s clear, bright voice came through the phone.
"Brother Zhao, someone claiming to be a friend of yours has come to Mingcan Courtyard. She says her name is Mo Ling’Er."
The woman making the call was, of course, the Witch Su Wanyun, whom Zhao Rui had secretly assigned to protect Mingcan Courtyard, Qin Rui, and the others.
An ordinary Martial Artist wouldn’t have even alerted her, but Mo Ling’Er’s Body Technique was terrifying. If Su Wanyun hadn’t been practicing the Divine Skill Zhao Rui had taught her, she likely couldn’t have kept up with the other woman’s speed.
Startled, she had naturally come out to intercept her.
"Oh? Mo Ling’Er? What’s she doing here? Let her take the phone."
"Alright!"
As soon as Su Wanyun heard this, a weight was lifted from her heart. It seemed this woman really was a friend of Zhao Rui’s.
She quickly handed the phone to Mo Ling’Er, saying, "It’s a call from Brother Zhao."
A delighted expression appeared on Mo Ling’Er’s face. She quickly took the phone and, before Zhao Rui could even speak, chirped, "Husband, where are you?"
At these words, the jaws of the spectating squad members dropped.
Husband?
Emperor Zhao is married?
An excited, gossipy look appeared on each of the squad members’ faces. They all perked up their ears, curious to see how things would unfold.
Even those who had places to be decided to stay. Not only did they stay, but they also started calling people over to see Captain Zhao’s wife.
"Mo Ling’Er, have you lost your mind?"
On the other end of the line, Zhao Rui was exasperated. ’What is this woman up to?’
"Husband, I missed you! Isn’t that what you call people in your Central State?"
"Cut it out. Now, tell me, why are you looking for me?"
"It’s nothing. You left without saying goodbye, so I missed you!"
"I know. Is there anything else?"
"You’re so mean."
"Mo Ling’Er, you’d better have a real reason for this."
"Alright, alright. In one month, the Marquis King is holding a grand celestial ritual to formally proclaim to heaven and earth that he is becoming the Human King of the Great Shang. The Marquis King has extended a special invitation for you to attend the ceremony."
"Attend the ceremony? Alright, I understand. I’ll be there."
"So, where are you? I want to see you."
"I’m not in Jeju. You should head back for now. I’ll come find you."
"Oh, alright."
Mo Ling’Er hung up, a little disappointed. ’That damn man, still so mean to me.’
’Just wait until I master my cultivation...’
Mo Ling’Er sighed in resignation. ’It seems like no matter how much I train, I’ll never be able to beat him.’
’I really want to tie him up and have my way with him.’
’It serves him right for being so mean every time we meet.’
Mo Ling’Er’s eyes darted. She casually tossed the phone back into Su Wanyun’s hands.
"Are you one of his women, too?"
Mo Ling’Er sized her up. Seeing that the other woman was remarkably beautiful and her power was considerable, she asked in a heavy tone.
"I’m not. I’m just one of his subordinates."
Su Wanyun’s eyes narrowed, alarm bells screaming in her mind. ’This woman’s Martial Arts are so incredible, and she’s so tyrannical. Qin Rui is no match for her.’
"Oh, if not, then never mind. Find the one who is and take me to see her."
"I’m afraid I can’t do that."
Su Wanyun refused without hesitation.
"Hmph?"
A monstrous aura instantly erupted from Mo Ling’Er. Her True Qi, as dense as a hurricane, swept out in all directions.
Su Wanyun only had time to circulate her True Qi and resist for a single breath before she was thrown to the ground. She slid for dozens of meters, crashing into the crowd of onlooking squad members.
"AH!"
The spectating squad members scattered and fled. Who would have thought the woman who had just been cooing sweet nothings to Captain Zhao would turn hostile on a dime?
"Stop!"
Just then, a clear, sweet female voice called out urgently.
"Little Sister Qin, run! Call Zhao Rui!"
Startled, Su Wanyun scrambled back to her feet and pushed her Power to its absolute limit. Unleashing the Heavenly Demon Technique she had learned from Zhao Rui, her form split into six demonic phantoms that lunged at Mo Ling’Er.
"Insubordination. You’re asking for a beating!"
A faint green mark appeared on Mo Ling’Er’s forehead as flames surged around her. The shadow of a blazing phoenix slowly unfurled its wings behind her.
As if about to take flight, it flapped twice.
Instantly, a scorching wave of fire erupted like a shockwave, surging toward Su Wanyun’s six demonic phantoms.
"HISS... PUFF!"
The demonic phantoms let out heart-rending shrieks as they were reduced to ash.
Su Wanyun’s figure tumbled from mid-air, her clothes in tatters as she was sent flying backward.
"Are you alright?"
Qin Rui, who had just arrived, rushed forward to help her up, glaring daggers at Mo Ling’Er.
"You’re so barbaric and unreasonable! Zhao Rui won’t let you get away with this!"
Qin Rui said furiously.
"Oh? She called you Little Sister Qin. Could you be that... special woman of Zhao Rui’s?"
"What if I am? I may not be able to beat you, but someone will be able to put you in your place."
Qin Rui’s chest heaved, a clear sign of her fury.
"Are you talking about Zhao Rui?"
"That’s right. Zhao Rui. You should know his temper. I don’t care what your relationship with him is, the one thing he hates most is infighting..."
"Infighting? Heh heh!"
Mo Ling’Er suddenly chuckled, her features relaxing into a smile. With a flicker, she appeared before Qin Rui and Su Wanyun.
Qin Rui, horrified, scrambled to her feet to shield Su Wanyun.
Mo Ling’Er’s eyes were bewitching. She reached out, tilting Qin Rui’s chin up as her aggressive gaze swept over the other woman’s face.
"So lovely it would stir pity in anyone’s heart."
"From now on, when you see me, you will call me ’Big Sister.’ Understand?"
Mo Ling’Er flashed a wicked smile. After sweeping her gaze over the surrounding onlookers, her form shattered like a bubble and vanished before their very eyes.
