Chapter 228:Skill trial.

Delta Two was unlike anything Silver had seen since arriving in this world. He had expected a powerful sanctuary, wealth, or better equipment and more Awakeners.

What he hadn’t expected was how much of the city seemed to revolve around research. He knew that the sanctuary was know for its research but not to such an eccentric level.

The moment Silver and Ravenna left the main road, they began seeing enormous research facilities scattered throughout the city.

Some were surrounded by reinforced walls. Others had large glass structures rising several stories into the air.

There were laboratories dedicated to beast research, medical research, Awakener physiology, weapons development, energy studies, and even strange fields Silver couldn’t immediately identify.

Large signs displayed advertisements for new equipment, research institutions competed for talented Contractors, and private companies offered enormous sums for rare beast materials.

The entire sanctuary seemed to revolve around one thing.

Progress.

Ravenna stared at one of the enormous buildings as they drove past.

"This place will never cease to amaze me"

Silver glanced at her.

"I can understand why they’re snobs"

"Look over there," she pointed toward the building. "When I was little, everyone said this place was advanced, and they were right."

Silver slowed slightly as they passed.

Through the glass walls, he could see several researchers moving around enormous tanks containing strange biological specimens.

Some of the creatures inside were beasts, while others looked like something between beasts and laboratory creations.

Silver’s eyes narrowed.

The sight reminded him of the research station.

Project 006.

He didn’t like the thought of it.

Ravenna noticed his expression.

"You okay?"

"Yeah." He forced himself to relax. "Just remembering the research station."

Ravenna’s expression became slightly more serious.

"I understand." She looked forward again. "At least we’re not going back there, not anytime soon."

"I just hope there is no relation with this sanctuary."

Silver continued driving.

They eventually reached the hotel. Calling it expensive was an understatement. The building was far more impressive than any lodging they’d used previously.

The entrance had polished floors and enormous glass windows. Contractors walked through the lobby wearing equipment that Silver immediately recognized as high quality.

Some carried weapons that looked significantly more advanced than anything commonly available in Delta Four.

Ravenna looked around.

"At least this time the price makes sense."

Silver laughed.

"That’s what I was thinking."

They checked in and went upstairs. Their room overlooked a large section of the sanctuary. From the balcony, Silver could see the city stretching toward the horizon.

It was enormous.

For a moment, he simply stood there enjoying the views.

Ravenna joined him.

"Beautiful."

"Yeah."

She leaned against the railing.

"I could get used to this."

Silver smiled.

"Don’t get too comfortable."

"I know." She looked at him. "We still have a journey, but I can still appreciate it while I’m here."

They stayed there for several minutes.

Eventually, Silver remembered something. He had been waiting for the right moment to tell her.

Something he had received recently.

[Soul Insight Lv1.]

He hadn’t tested it yet, and still hadn’t explained it to Ravenna. After everything that had happened between them, Silver didn’t want to hide every strange thing he received.

He turned toward her.

"Ravenna."

"Hm?"

"Remember the skill I said I would explain to you."

She looked curious.

"I was actually about to ask you about it."

Silver nodded.

"It’s something similar to how I can sense space."

Ravenna immediately became interested.

"What does it do?"

"I don’t completely understand it yet." He paused. "But it lets me see information about other contractors, that’s the explanation I got from the system."

Ravenna stared at him.

"What type of information?"

"Things like their rank, their Soul Capacity, and possibly some of their abilities."

Her eyes widened.

"You’re serious?"

"Yap."

Ravenna stepped closer.

"How?"

"I’m not really sure, I haven’t tested it yet."

Silver gave her a helpless shrug.

Ravenna studied him for several seconds.

She crossed her arms.

"Can you demonstrate it?"

"I want to."

Silver walked toward the balcony doors and stepped outside. He looked down toward the hotel entrance, where several contractors were walking through.

Silver focused on one of them.

A young man carrying a large axe, he appeared to be in his twenties.

Silver concentrated.

[Soul Insight Lv1 Activated.]

The world seemed to shift. For an instant, Silver felt as if something had opened behind his eyes.

Silver blinked, and the information vanished. He stared at the man, and the contractor continued walking without noticing anything.

He remained silent, thinking. Ravenna looked at him.

"Well?"

Silver didn’t answer immediately.

He had expected something, but not this. It had shown him far more than he had anticipated, it was so detailed.

Silver slowly exhaled.

"It works."

Ravenna smiled.

Silver looked at her.

"I mean..." He paused. "I actually didn’t expect it to work this well."

She became more interested.

"What did you see?"

"His rank."

"Which was?"

"Rank Two."

Ravenna nodded.

"Anything else?"

"His Soul Capacity."

"How much?"

"Five."

Ravenna’s eyebrows rose.

"That’s pretty good."

"Yeah."

Silver looked back toward the lobby.

"He has an strength type beast."

"What kind?"

"Iron Horned Boar."

Ravenna stared at him.

"You’re telling me you can see someone’s contracted beast too?"

"It seems like it."

She stepped closer.

"What else?"

Silver hesitated.

"Attributes."

Her expression changed.

"You can also see those?"

"Apparently."

"What about skills?"

Silver nodded.

"Those too."

Ravenna stared at him for several seconds, then she laughed.

"That’s ridiculous."

Silver smiled.

"I know."

"How is that fair?"

"I don’t know."

"You can already sense space, teleport, slash through things, use guns, have a supernatural system, and now you can inspect people?"

"Apparently."

Ravenna folded her arms.

"Your abilities are becoming increasingly unreasonable."

Silver laughed.

"That’s rich coming from you."

"What does that mean?"

"You have a Soul Capacity of nineteen."

Ravenna blinked.

"I know I’m talented but not this much, tell me it’s not true," she denied it immediately, waving him off.

"I haven’t checked yet."

She narrowed her eyes.

"You’re teasing me."

"Maybe."

She hit his arm. Silver laughed.

"Fine."

He held up his hands.

"I’m not teasing."

"Good."

She looked thoughtful.

"So you can see anyone’s information?"

"Not necessarily." Silver shook his head. " there are limitations, I can’t see someone stronger than me, but I would need to test it carefully.

Ravenna nodded.

"That makes sense."

She looked toward the window.

"This will really be helpful in the long run especially after we go to the academy."
