I Married the President

Chapter 525: You’re So Unreliable

The nurse said, "A few people just came to the hospital claiming to be Third Miss Tanner’s family. I think it was her cousins and aunt. They strong-armed the staff into processing her discharge, then took her away, saying they were going to find her a better hospital."

Claire Sinclair rolled her eyes and said irritably, "Did you tell Mr. Kingsley about this?"

The nurse was taken aback. "Eldest Miss Thorne said they had already spoken to Mr. Kingsley..."

Claire Sinclair frowned, grabbed her phone, and called Ethan Kingsley. "Mr. Kingsley, did you let the Tanner Family take Third Miss Tanner?"

Ethan Kingsley replied, "How could they have known she was here..."

Hearing that, Claire Sinclair immediately understood. She snapped, "And here I thought you’d protect her. You’re completely unreliable!"

With that, Claire Sinclair hung up, then spun around to face Landon Winston. "Go find Third Miss Tanner at once. You absolutely cannot let the Tanner Family take her."

"Yes, ma’am!" Landon Winston nodded and sprang into action.

Feeling too restless to stay behind, Claire Sinclair went with Landon Winston and got into the car.

Fortunately, Quincy Manor had special privileges to access the hospital’s security footage and monitor traffic conditions. In less than five minutes, Landon Winston had tracked Third Miss Tanner’s movements and confirmed they were heading to the airport.

Without another moment of hesitation, Claire Sinclair led the way to the airport to intercept them.

It was Claire Sinclair’s first time experiencing Quincy Manor’s efficiency. They arrived at the airport in less than ten minutes, while the surveillance feed showed that the car Ivy Tanner was in was still stuck in traffic on an overpass.

Ivy Tanner was forced into the back seat. She stared ahead, bored but docile, not daring to move or speak.

Her two cousins sat on either side of her, while her aunt, Mrs. Carson, occupied the front passenger seat. The man driving was the Tanner family’s steward—and Mrs. Carson’s own brother.

The eldest cousin, Felicity Tanner, was on her phone, texting a close friend about something or other.

The second cousin, Melody Tanner, was touching up her makeup in a compact mirror. "Sis," she said, "do you think Young Master Kingsley will be mad when he finds out we just took the little bitch like this?"

Felicity Tanner scoffed. "Young Master Kingsley is about to get engaged to Corinne Linden. This little bitch is just a piece of unwanted trash now. We’re taking her back for our own fun. What’s it got to do with him?"

Melody Tanner was still worried. "Young Master Kingsley is so unpredictable. I’m just afraid of getting on his bad side."

Felicity Tanner was unconcerned. "No matter how you look at it, the little bitch is meaningless to him now. We’re helping him get rid of a stumbling block. He ought to thank us."

The words had barely left her mouth when Melody Tanner viciously pinched Ivy Tanner’s thigh and cursed, "You little bitch, what were you doing running around? Do you have any idea how hard it was for us to find you? And you ran all the way to Scylla City! If our mole next to Young Master Kingsley hadn’t tipped us off, we’d never have known you came to this godforsaken place. If you want to die, just say so!"

She vented all her resentment on Ivy, cursing and pinching her repeatedly.

Ivy Tanner endured the sharp pain in her thigh, not daring to move. "I’m sorry..." she said pitifully.

"Hmph!" Melody Tanner snorted. "Did you think finding Young Master Kingsley meant you’d have a protector? Don’t you know your own place? You’re a retard!"

"I’m sorry..." Ivy Tanner repeated.

But Melody Tanner just pinched her thigh again. Still not satisfied, she raised her hand and slapped Ivy hard across the face several times, then balled her fist and began pounding it against her head.
