"SOB SOB SOB... I’m sorry..." Ivy Tanner cried and pleaded, but she didn’t "know" how to struggle.

To her, this kind of petty abuse no longer even registered as pain. She just had to endure it and it would pass. If she struggled, it would only earn her a more vicious beating from them.

After a few minutes, Melody Tanner got tired and, just as expected, stopped.

Felicity Tanner and Mrs. Tanner watched coldly from the side, not saying a word. They were long accustomed to this kind of behavior.

Before long, the car arrived at the airport.

Felicity Tanner got out first, walked to the side, and looked at the airport entrance.

At the same time, Melody Tanner kicked Ivy Tanner out of the car.

Ivy Tanner stumbled and pitched forward, her body slamming hard against the ground as pain ravaged her.

Melody Tanner got out of the car nonchalantly, stepped right over her, and said casually, "Sis, we still have some time. Let’s go grab a coffee."

The words had barely left her mouth when several men in plainclothes walked over, forcing the family trio back a few steps.

Claire Sinclair emerged from behind the men, bent down, and gently helped Ivy Tanner to her feet. "Are you alright?" she asked with concern.

"It hurts..." Ivy Tanner said pitifully, her eyes shimmering with tears.

Claire Sinclair gazed at her face, her heart twisting like a knife as she saw the fresh wounds.

’These inhuman bastards!’

Claire Sinclair abruptly turned her head. Her dark, menacing gaze slowly swept over the three Tanner women—mother and daughters. She exuded an imposing aura of righteousness as she said without expression, "Whoever hit her, step forward right now."

She was no longer the weak Claire Sinclair who let everyone bully her. She was Adrian Quincy’s wife, the top female reporter for the Astoria Daily—Claire Sinclair.

Once she unleashed her aura, it was enough to make the Tanner women panic, even tremble.

Throughout Aridia, there was no one who didn’t recognize Claire Sinclair’s name, and the Tanner women were no exception.

Realizing what kind of trouble she was in, a guilty Felicity Tanner shoved her own sister forward. "Reporter Sinclair, my sister hit her. I tried to stop her, but she wouldn’t listen."

The color drained from Melody Tanner’s face. "No, I didn’t hit her!" she said frantically. "She just fell on her own!"

Claire Sinclair’s eyes flashed with cold anger. "Why don’t you demonstrate," she said frigidly, "how to fall and get the exact same injuries."

Melody Tanner was instantly speechless. ’How am I supposed to do that?!’

Claire Sinclair narrowed her eyes and issued a final warning. "Whoever hit her, step forward and apologize right now. And while you’re at it, pay her medical expenses. Otherwise, if I have to ask Quincy Manor for help, this whole affair will blow up, and that won’t do the Tanner Family any good."

Hearing this, Mrs. Tanner and Felicity were both scared. They shoved Melody forward again. "Melody, just admit it! Are you trying to get us all killed?"

Melody Tanner stammered, "I... I... I..." a few times. She was utterly terrified of Quincy Manor’s reputation and finally caved. "I’m sorry! I was the one who hit... Ivy Tanner. I apologize. Ivy, I was wrong, I’m so sorry!"

Claire Sinclair said through gritted teeth, "The medical fees."

"The m-medical fees... here, I have money, take it all!" Melody Tanner fumbled for her wallet and pulled out all her cash, a thousand in total. "I-I only have a thousand. Is a thousand enough?"

Claire Sinclair asked in a hoarse voice, "What do you think?"

"N-no, it’s not enough! Sis, Mom, do you have any more money? Quick, give it to me!" Melody Tanner whirled around to beg her family for help. Her behavior—bullying the weak and fearing the strong—was utterly ridiculous.

Afraid of causing more trouble, Mrs. Tanner and Felicity both obediently handed over all their cash. It wasn’t much, but it amounted to over two thousand.
