Chapter 505: You Can Only Have One Skewer
Ivy Tanner immediately reached out and hugged his arm. "Brother Kingsley, please, don’t hit me."
"Alright, alright, I won’t hit you. I’ll treat you to a skewer, but only one."
"Okay! Okay!"
...
Back at the hotel, Claire Sinclair thoughtfully helped The Great Demon King Quincy unpack his suitcase.
Adrian Quincy had just gotten into the room when he received a call, and he stood in the hallway talking for a long time.
When he finished, Claire Sinclair brought him a glass of water. "Here, have some water."
Adrian Quincy took the glass and said in a heavy voice, "The hospital just called. My grandfather’s condition has suddenly worsened. He might not make it through the month."
"What? Grandpa White-beard..." Fear suddenly gripped Claire Sinclair’s heart.
She was terrified of losing family, even a grandfather who didn’t even remember her.
Adrian Quincy comforted her, "Life and death are determined by fate. When people reach old age, they learn to let go of many things. Once we’re done here, we’ll go back to see him together."
"Aren’t you sad?" Claire Sinclair couldn’t help but ask.
"It’s enough that you’re sad for the both of us. I can handle it."
"..."
Not wanting to see her unhappy, Adrian Quincy changed the subject. "What do you want to eat? Let’s go out."
"Going out would take too much time. You must be tired from your flight. Let’s just eat at the hotel restaurant."
"Okay." The two of them headed to the buffet restaurant on the hotel’s third floor.
As soon as they walked in, they saw Ethan Kingsley and the Third Miss Tanner sitting in a very conspicuous spot.
The Third Miss Tanner was practically draped all over Ethan Kingsley, her hands flailing toward a skewer of grilled meat in his hand.
"I told you, only one skewer."
"Skewer, skewer..." The Third Miss Tanner’s eyes were fixed on the grilled meat, completely deaf to anything else.
Ethan Kingsley was exasperated. He quickly took a bite of the skewer, trying to finish it off so she would stop craving it.
But the Third Miss Tanner, unable to get the skewer in his hand, was not one to give up. She lunged for it, determined to snatch it away.
Ethan Kingsley flinched. His first instinct was to push the Little Idiot away, worried she’d get hurt by the sharp skewer stick. But against his better judgment, his body wouldn’t obey. He even moved the skewer to her lips.
Ivy Tanner blinked. She finally got her wish and tasted the grilled meat. Chewing with a look of pure innocence, she said with a grin, "Brother Kingsley, the skewer is yummy!"
Ethan Kingsley had finally been defeated by her. He raised his hand and wiped away the chili powder from the corner of her mouth, saying helplessly, "Iris, you’re embarrassing me. Don’t snatch things from me next time, okay? Remember?"
Ivy Tanner nodded, only half-understanding. Then, she suddenly reached out a finger and gently smoothed the furrow between his brows.
"Brother Kingsley, don’t be unhappy, okay?"
"I’m not unhappy. You’re the one who’s not behaving. I feel like hitting you."
"I’m sorry..." Ivy Tanner could tell he was scolding her, and she looked like she was about to cry.
Ethan Kingsley lifted her back onto her chair and said in a low voice, "Seth Payne, take her back to her room. Send her home tomorrow morning."
"Yes, sir." Seth Payne acknowledged, then forcefully pulled Ivy Tanner to her feet.
At first, Ivy Tanner resisted a little, but after glancing back at the impassive Ethan Kingsley, she gave up struggling and obediently went with Seth Payne.
The pair brushed past Adrian Quincy and Claire Sinclair. Claire wasn’t sure if it was her imagination, but she felt that Ivy Tanner had just given her a meaningful look.
Seeing the two of them arrive, Ethan Kingsley suddenly stood up and said with a smile, "What a coincidence. You’re staying at this hotel too?"
Adrian Quincy didn’t respond.
Claire Sinclair was the one who spoke. "I didn’t realize Mr. Kingsley was so good to the Third Miss Tanner."
