Chapter 506: I Know Who Did It Without an Investigation
Ethan Kingsley chuckled. "Just a simpleton. Can’t throw her out, can’t hit her, can only coax her. Now, if you’ll excuse me."
For some reason, as if he’d suddenly remembered something, he turned and walked off in the direction Ivy Tanner had gone.
Claire Sinclair watched his retreating back, her gaze lingering for a long time.
Adrian Quincy asked in a low voice, "What’s wrong?"
"I still think there’s something strange about that Third Miss Tanner."
"Strange how?"
"It’s just a gut feeling. I can’t explain it."
"Then don’t think about it. Let’s get something to eat."
...
After Seth Payne locked Ivy Tanner in the room, she suddenly dropped to the ground, kneeling in a strange position. She desperately tried to reach her own back, but she couldn’t touch the spot she was trying to grab.
Her brow was deeply furrowed, her face as white as a sheet, and her lips began to tremble slightly.
She was being sent back tomorrow morning, which meant tonight was her last chance to escape. She couldn’t afford to collapse here.
’No, this pain is nothing. I’ve endured it for so many years. It all comes down to this one day. I can’t collapse.’
Thinking of her escape plan, Ivy Tanner clenched her jaw and forced herself back to her feet.
She thought she could endure it, but the next second, her body gave out and she collapsed to the floor, unconscious.
Suddenly, her back grew wet, stained a patch of crimson.
Ethan Kingsley burst in moments later. Seeing her lying in a pool of blood, his heart nearly leaped out of his chest.
"Fuck!" he cursed, striding over to lift the girl into his arms before turning and bolting from the room.
Ivy Tanner was taken to an unfamiliar hospital.
When she woke up, she was frantic. She was alone in the hospital room, and her clothes had been changed into a patient’s gown.
Someone was talking outside the door to her room.
"We removed a total of 125 needles from the patient’s body. They were almost everywhere. Fortunately, the needles didn’t cause any permanent damage, but having them stuck in her flesh would have been extremely painful. Additionally, the wound on her back appears to have been caused by something like a nail. It’s a fresh wound, likely from yesterday. We’ve treated it, and as long as she gets proper rest, she should recover quickly."
Ethan Kingsley’s face was dark, and he remained silent.
The doctor was a little intimidated. "Young Master Kingsley, if there’s nothing else, I’ll get back to my duties."
As soon as the doctor had left, Seth Payne immediately asked, "Young Master Kingsley, should we investigate this?"
"There’s no need to investigate. I already know who did it. Lock down this hospital. Don’t let anyone know she’s here."
"Yes, sir." Seth Payne nodded.
Ethan Kingsley pushed open the door and entered the room. From a distance, he saw her lying peacefully on the bed, her face pale and colorless, like a wilting white rose.
For no reason, his heart tightened. He walked over to her and sat down on the edge of the bed.
Looking at the dense cluster of red dots on her arm where the needles had been, he couldn’t imagine how she could bear such immense pain yet still sit in front of him without a change in expression, fighting with him over a piece of meat.
"Little Idiot, did you follow me because you want my help to teach those people who bully you a lesson?"
Of course he knew her objective. She just didn’t know how to express it. After all, she had the mental capacity of an eight-year-old.
Ethan Kingsley gently took her small hand and said in a low voice, "When you get better, I’ll take you home. From now on, I’ll be here. No one will dare bully you again."
Ivy Tanner’s brow suddenly furrowed.

「That night.」
Adrian Quincy had to leave for an urgent matter with Aiden Howkins. He said he might not be back until the middle of the night.
Claire Sinclair was worried, but when she asked him about it, he wouldn’t say anything, only telling her not to worry.
How could Claire Sinclair not be worried? She was too anxious to sleep, so she stayed in her room alone, scrolling through Weibo on her phone for what felt like an eternity.
