Chapter 437: Do You Have Feelings for Me or Not?
Faye Dean seemed to read his mind. She suddenly found a moment to say, "Morgan, if you’re a man, then be decisive! Don’t waste time!"
Frank Morgan frowned slightly, and the final wall around his heart came crashing down.
...
...
When it came to matters of principle, Frank Morgan did have his limits.
Frank Morgan deliberately avoided her gaze, his voice low. "You knew I was leaving and that I wouldn’t be coming back. Why did you seduce me?"
"You leaving is your business," Faye Dean said smugly. "I never said I wouldn’t go back to our country to find you."
Frank Morgan’s heart tightened. He met her gaze again. "You’re going back to our country?"
"That’s right. My parents wouldn’t want me to leave, but I still love our country... and I love the men from our country even more."
"..."’This woman is really something else. So unbelievably forward.’
Faye Dean couldn’t resist asking, "If I come back to find you, will you make our relationship official?"
Frank Morgan said in a low voice, "I haven’t been home in five years. If you come back with me, I can only give you that title. Everything else might have to wait."
At his words, Faye Dean grew irritated. "If I cared about that stuff, I wouldn’t have slept with you," she snapped. "Do you have any feelings for me or not?"
Frank Morgan fell silent.
Faye Dean’s heart ached with hurt. Disappointment churned within her, but it was no use, no matter how much she wished things were different.
’Jerk!’
’How could she have fallen for such a clueless man? She could only blame herself for having such bad taste. What good would blaming him do!’
Just as she was ready to give up, the man suddenly spoke. "The laws in Aridia have a mandatory protection clause for my marriage. Once we’re married, you can never, ever get a divorce. Not even if I die. Have you thought this through?"
A smile returned to Faye Dean’s lips. She climbed on top of him, hooked her arms around his neck, and breathed hotly against his face. "I’m well aware of that law. Besides, I’ve already thought it through. Just say you love me, and I’ll stay with you forever."
Frank Morgan couldn’t help but ask, "Will your parents agree?"
A flash of discomfort appeared in Faye Dean’s eyes, but she didn’t let it show, instead putting on a magnanimous front. "What does my marriage have to do with them? In any case, you have to wait for me after you go back. I have to get my papers sorted out on my end, so I can’t come back right away."
Hearing this, a look of genuine reluctance to part with her finally surfaced in Frank Morgan’s eyes.
She was different from any other woman he had ever known. Though her thinking was liberal, she was by no means a promiscuous woman, and he could feel the sincerity of her feelings for him.
At the very least, he was touched.
He gazed into her glistening eyes, so full of sincere emotion, and the high, hard wall he had built around his heart collapsed in an instant. He pulled her into his arms and, his voice softening, said, "When you come back, I will give you a home. I promise."
"Hmph, then it’s a promise." A blissful, feminine smile graced Faye Dean’s lips.
’That stupid man,’ she thought. ’I’m never letting him go!’
Just then, her phone suddenly buzzed.
At the same time, a red light on the alarm that Claire Sinclair had intentionally left in the living room began to blink.
Frank Morgan steeled his heart and pushed her away. "The plan is starting," he said in a grave voice. "Get back to Chinatown, quickly."
"Will you be okay by yourself?" Faye Dean asked, her voice full of worry.
Frank Morgan’s face was stern. "It’s an order from Young Master Quincy. I have to complete it. Now go."
"Okay!" Faye Dean nodded, picked up an apple from the table, took a bite, and turned to leave.
As she walked out the door, she fought the overwhelming urge to look back. But to ensure the man she loved could escape safely, she couldn’t turn around.
