Chapter 438: These Things Are All for You
At 1:06 PM, four city blocks, including Chinatown, suddenly lost power at the same time.
Simultaneously, several international websites were breached by anonymous hackers, paralyzing networks in multiple locations.
A group of troublemakers suddenly swarmed Chinatown, holding protest signs and shouting for Adrian Quincy to get out of Chinatown, get out of Aridia, and that he was unfit to run for president.
The appearance of these troublemakers plunged Chinatown into unprecedented chaos.
Adrian Quincy remained calm in the face of danger, leading Claire Sinclair back to their car. With the help of some kind local expatriates, they finally managed to leave safely.
Claire had originally planned to stay in Meridia City a little longer by herself. However, because of the riot in Chinatown, she had no choice but to return with Adrian Quincy.
When the two of them arrived at the airport, Quentin Zane and Aiden Howkins were already waiting for them by Adrian Quincy’s private jet.
The group finally boarded the plane.
As the cabin door closed, Claire Sinclair looked back wistfully at the receding Meridia City and muttered, "’I didn’t even get to say goodbye to Faye and the others...’"
Frank Morgan, who was sitting across from her, said, "She mentioned she’d come back to the country to visit us in a while."
Claire’s heart leaped with joy. "Really?"
Frank Morgan nodded.
Just then, Adrian Quincy walked over and sat down beside Claire Sinclair.
Frank Morgan immediately concealed the reluctance in his eyes and said with a serious expression, "Young Master Quincy, thank you for coming all this way to rescue me."
Adrian Quincy said in a deep voice, "This plan was only successful because of the covert help from Claire’s hacker friends. You should be thanking her."
Frank Morgan looked at Claire Sinclair in astonishment. "You have hacker friends?"
Before Claire Sinclair could speak, Aiden Howkins couldn’t help but chime in, "Don’t you underestimate our Young Madam. When it comes to computers, she’s an absolute master."
Claire Sinclair said modestly, "Don’t say that. I just know a thing or two."
Frank Morgan could tell she was just being modest, and his favorable impression of her grew. He expressed his gratitude sincerely, "Claire Sinclair, thank you."
"You’re welcome," Claire Sinclair replied politely.
With Frank Morgan finally safe, the plan was considered a complete success.
Unfortunately, Claire Sinclair wasn’t able to carry out her own plan in the end.
’Oh well, maybe next time.’
-
After a twelve-hour flight, the plane landed safely.
As soon as she got off the plane, Claire Sinclair received a phone call. It was from Teacher Hartwell.
Henry Hartwell said over the phone, "Claire Sinclair, grab your man and get down to the newspaper office right away."
Claire Sinclair asked curiously, "Teacher Hartwell, what’s wrong?"
Henry Hartwell replied, "It’s too complicated to explain over the phone. Just bring your man and come over now. It’s Sunday, so no one’s at the office. Hurry."
After hanging up, Claire Sinclair looked up at Adrian Quincy and said, "Mr. Quincy, Teacher Hartwell wants us to go to the Astoria Daily office right now. It sounds urgent."
Adrian Quincy gave a slight nod, gave a few instructions to his men, and then joined her in the dedicated car heading to the Astoria Daily.
After a drive of about twenty minutes, the two of them arrived at the base of Astoria Tower.
When they reached the entrance of the Astoria Daily, they saw four or five large wooden crates placed out front. Each was about a meter long and half a meter wide, sealed shut, and had a shipping label on it. The tracking numbers were all unique and not in sequence.
Seeing this, Claire Sinclair was stunned. "What are all these crates?"
Henry Hartwell appeared out of nowhere and retorted, "Shouldn’t I be asking you?"
Claire Sinclair was completely confused.
Adrian Quincy pointed to the writing on the shipping labels and said, "Claire, these are all for you."
"Huh?" Claire Sinclair was even more baffled.
