Chapter 439: The Bizarre Gift Boxes
Henry Hartwell said, "These boxes are really heavy; I couldn’t carry them on my own. And I saw the delivery guys—they were just the regular couriers who always come here. That’s why I asked you to come over."
Claire Sinclair thought for a long time before finally blurting out, "I swear, I haven’t bought anything online in a very long time. I know absolutely nothing about this."
Adrian Quincy asked in a low voice, "When were these boxes delivered?"
Henry Hartwell said, "Just this morning. I didn’t know about it until the security guard downstairs called me. Not many people know about this yet, and I think it’s best to keep it that way."
Adrian Quincy nodded slightly, took out his phone, and called Aiden Howkins. "Send a few people to Astoria Tower to move some things. There’s a lot, so bring a large vehicle."
"Yes, sir!" Aiden Howkins responded, and the call ended.
Adrian Quincy put his phone away, his gaze falling on the girl’s anxious face. He said in a low voice, "Claire, don’t worry. We’ll move everything to my place for now, and we’ll take a look at what it is when we get back."
Claire Sinclair took a soft breath. "I’m not so much worried as I am weirded out."
"I’m here. Don’t think too much about it."
"Okay." Claire Sinclair nodded.
Before long, Aiden Howkins arrived with a few men. Working together, they hauled the five boxes to the vehicle and headed back.
Back at Quincy Manor, Claire Sinclair couldn’t wait to get out of the car.
Once Aiden Howkins and his men had unloaded all the boxes, she immediately walked over to spectate.
Adrian Quincy walked over unhurriedly and ordered, "Open the boxes."
Aiden Howkins nodded, found some tools, and pried open the five wooden crates one by one. Then, he and his men removed the lids at the same time.
When everyone saw what was inside the boxes, they were all visibly shocked.
The first crate was filled with gold.
The second crate was filled with silver.
The third crate was filled with pearls.
The fourth crate was filled with jade artifacts.
The last crate was filled with Dove chocolates.
This...
What in the world???
Seeing the contents of the crates only made Claire Sinclair more confused.
Aiden Howkins couldn’t help but exclaim, "If this stuff is all real, how much do you think it’s worth?"
Adrian Quincy said in a low voice, "Get someone to appraise it."
"Yes, sir!" Aiden Howkins acknowledged, immediately going to find an expert for an appraisal.
Helen Wallace, Quentin Zane, and Frank Morgan were still on standby.
Adrian Quincy turned, about to call on Frank Morgan out of habit. But after a moment’s thought, he addressed Quentin Zane instead, "Quentin, I want you to trace the source of these items."
"Understood," Quentin Zane replied. He turned to the others and said, "A few of you, help me carry these things inside."
Helen Wallace crossed her arms, an amused look on her face as if watching a good show. She said with a smile, "If those chocolates are real, there’s probably enough to last for half a year."
Frank Morgan couldn’t help but add, "If someone sent these intentionally, they probably would’ve left a hint."
Adrian Quincy asked, "Claire, have you received any strange text messages lately?"
Claire Sinclair shook her head. "No, and besides, I modified my phone myself. Most junk messages can’t even get through, and hardly anyone knows my number."
"Let’s wait and see." Unwilling to let his wife be troubled by this, Adrian Quincy took her hand and led her into the manor.
Claire Sinclair kept looking back over her shoulder, watching as the large crates were carried away, unable to put the matter to rest in her mind.
’Who on earth would be so bored as to send her something so pointless?’
