Chapter 518: Truly Fits a Fool’s Aesthetic
After hearing her explanation, Claire Sinclair finally understood the value of the ring. "Since it’s a gift to win him over, this jade ring must have been quite expensive. You can leave it with me for now. I’ll give you a hundred yuan, and when you have the money, you can come get it back."
"Thank you." Ivy Tanner readily accepted her offer.
As her eyes fell upon the ring, she felt an uncontrollable pang of reluctance.
’This was the engagement token Grandpa Kingsley left for her and Ethan Kingsley. Unfortunately, the wedding was called off, so the ring had lost its purpose.’
’It’s okay. Claire Sinclair will take good care of it. I don’t plan on getting it back anyway. So be it.’
Claire Sinclair put the ring away safely, gave her the hundred yuan, and then asked, "Are you really not going to spend his money?"
Ivy Tanner smiled and said, "Using his money to buy him a birthday present just feels meaningless to me."
"What can you possibly buy with a hundred yuan?" Claire Sinclair reminded her.
’With Ethan Kingsley’s current status and position, he’d probably look down on a hundred-yuan gift.’
Ivy Tanner thought about it seriously for a moment before saying nonchalantly, "A gift from a fool just needs to look foolish. I want to go check out the supermarket."
"Let’s go." Claire Sinclair led her into the supermarket.
Ivy Tanner wandered around the supermarket for a long time, walking through the same aisles several times, before Claire Sinclair finally realized the girl had a terrible sense of direction.
Afraid she would overtire herself if she kept walking, Claire Sinclair quickly stopped her. "What are you looking for? I’ll help you find it."
Ivy Tanner pouted. "I’m just looking for where they sell dolls. How come I haven’t seen any? Do supermarkets not sell things like that anymore?"
’Dolls?’
’That really fits a fool’s aesthetic. This woman is actually very clever.’
’The point of buying Ethan Kingsley a gift isn’t necessarily to get something he’d like, but to get something *she* likes.’
Claire Sinclair rolled her eyes at her. "The first floor is the food section. Dolls are on the second floor."
Ivy Tanner: "..."
The two of them went up to the second floor and quickly found the doll section.
Ivy Tanner looked at the mountain of stuffed animals, finally picking out a turtle with a large head. The price was exactly 100 yuan.
Claire Sinclair couldn’t resist asking, "You didn’t just pick the turtle because it happened to be exactly one hundred yuan, did you?"
"Yup, you figured it out."
"You really have zero sincerity," Claire Sinclair remarked ruthlessly.
Ivy Tanner, however, didn’t think it was a big deal. "He’ll look down on anything I buy. It’s just going to end up in the trash anyway, so I can’t be bothered to think about what he likes."
Claire Sinclair: "..."
’This girl really doesn’t let it get to her.’
After they paid, Claire Sinclair quickly took Ivy Tanner back to the hospital, then rushed over to the Dazzling Star Camp without stopping.
All of the top 25 contestants had a rehearsal today. She wanted to see how the "kids" were progressing with their practice, but of course, her main purpose was to pay someone a visit.
When Claire Sinclair arrived at the camp, she happened to see the trainees gathered in a circle, shouting "Go! Go! Go!" at the top of their lungs. The atmosphere was electric, as if something exciting was happening.
Making sure not to block the camera, Claire Sinclair squeezed her way through the crowd to the front. Sheryl Drake, Mimi Fisher, and Master were standing off to the side.
In the very center of the crowd, Adrian Quincy and Ethan Kingsley were shirtless, side-by-side on the ground doing push-ups. They were breathing heavily but steadily, their bodies slick with sweat.
No one was counting, only shouting encouragement, so Claire Sinclair couldn’t tell if they were competing or being punished.
Claire Sinclair turned to ask Sheryl Drake, "Cousin, what are they doing?"
