Chapter 168 - 110: The Special Feature Report
Then another thought occurred to Jiang Miao. The company would definitely need to build more intelligent greenhouses in the future. The reason was simple: Shuya was still researching other types of gourmet mushrooms.
Termitomyces, matsutake, and russula—three mushroom species that were currently uncultivable—were all on Shuya’s research schedule.
Therefore, the intelligent greenhouses would have to be built sooner or later. Building them earlier meant they could produce Morchella while waiting for progress on the research of other gourmet mushrooms.
With this conclusion, Jiang Miao made his decision. "I’ve decided to mass-produce the Morchella. In any case, even if these intelligent greenhouses stop producing Morchella down the line, they can still be used to cultivate other gourmet mushrooms."
"You handle the arrangements, then! I’ve already finished the technical side. You can take it and apply for a patent," Shuya said, lowering her head to take a few quick bites of her food.
"Mmm." Jiang Miao thought for a moment. ’The new intelligent greenhouses can’t be located in Nanhu Village. Hailufeng Company has already contracted or leased basically all the usable land there. And the other villages in Magong Town don’t have much available land, either.’
’Take Salt Town Village, for example. Of all the flat land and gentle slopes in the entire village, 70% is taken up by fish ponds, 10% by residential areas and roads, 10% by farmland, and 10% by orchards.’
’His hometown, Xinxiang, originally had a large tract of land. Unfortunately, a few years ago, over 330 acres of fish ponds and farmland were expropriated to build a new campus for South China Normal University. Not long after, Hailufeng Company acquired another plot for an employee residential complex and office building. Now, the remaining land was not only scarce but also scattered and fragmented.’
’It was the same story in Jinting Village, where a huge area had been taken up by real estate projects, a hospital, and residential zones. On top of that, land prices there were relatively high, which was another reason Hailufeng Company hadn’t tried to contract or lease land around Jinting Village.’
After mulling it over, Jiang Miao turned his attention to the neighboring Red Grass Town.
This time, he planned to invest in building an intelligent greenhouse complex spanning at least 165 acres in the neighboring Red Grass Town. After all, the company had just borrowed a large sum of money—it would be a waste not to use it.
After lunch, Jiang Miao handed the plan to invest in the 165-acre intelligent greenhouse complex in Red Grass Town over to Jiang Haibo and Lü Weibin to carry out.
After all, matters like this no longer required him, the boss, to handle everything personally.
He had a meeting to attend today, and he had to go with Shuya.
A few days ago, right after the exhibition started, Yang Yang, the "Fruit Hunter" they had previously worked with, had his assistant contact Li Zixuan. Yang Yang mentioned that a host from an agricultural channel wanted to interview Hailufeng Company. Since Yang Yang had collaborated with that channel several times, they had reached out to Li Zixuan through him.
Naturally, Jiang Miao had no objections to an opportunity to promote his company.
The two parties agreed to conduct the interview on October 7th.
Today was that day.
A little after two in the afternoon, the interview team arrived in Magong Town in a chartered vehicle.
Soon, Jiang Miao and Lin Shuya were at the entrance to meet the host-slash-reporter who stepped out of the vehicle, followed by a cameraman, a drone operator, and an editor.
"Station Chief Guo, welcome to Hailufeng Company," Jiang Miao said with a smile, stepping forward to greet him.
Station Chief Guo, the host and reporter, beamed and extended his hand. "General Manager Jiang, so young and already so accomplished."
As they shook hands, Jiang Miao made the introduction. "This is my wife, Lin Shuya. She’s the one who developed the new artificial cultivation technology for White Truffles."
"Hello, Station Chief Guo." Lin Shuya also smiled and gave his hand a light shake.
"Hello, Ms. Lin." Station Chief Guo’s handshake was brief. He then said with an admiring smile, "Ms. Lin, the technology you’ve developed is already famous nationwide. Soon, the whole world will know that our country has successfully developed a method for artificially cultivating White Truffles."
"I still have much to learn and must continue to work hard," Lin Shuya replied humbly.
Jiang Miao cut in, "Station Chief Guo, shall we go over the schedule for the interview first?"
"Haha, excellent!"
In the reception room, Station Chief Guo, Jiang Miao, and Lin Shuya sat down and began to discuss the interview’s agenda.
First, there would be an indoor interview. Then, they would film the experimental area and the old, basic laboratory. After that, they would capture footage of the production process inside the intelligent greenhouses, and finally, they would film at the exhibition in Ciyun Mountain Park.
"We’re planning to do a feature series on Hailufeng Company. The first piece will be about Ms. Lin’s White Truffle cultivation technology. The second will cover General Manager Jiang’s artificial eel breeding technology. The third will focus on how Hailufeng Company is leading the villagers of Magong Town on a path to prosperity. And the fourth piece will be about the new strawberry variety developed by General Manager Jiang."
Clearly, Station Chief Guo had done his homework. Initially, he had only been focused on the technology for cultivating White Truffles.
However, after delving deeper into Jiang Miao and Hailufeng Company, he realized the company was a goldmine of stories—far too many for a single report. After an internal discussion at the channel, they decided to produce a whole feature series.
’After all, getting several reports out of a single business trip... What a sweet deal,’ he thought.
Jiang Miao smiled and nodded. "That works for us. My wife and I are happy to cooperate with the filming."
"In that case, let’s discuss the interview questions and answers first." Station Chief Guo was clearly a man of action.
They discussed for over an hour, finally finalizing the questions and answers for all four reports. Once the script was written, they began their first rehearsal.
