Chapter 167 - 110: Special Report on Village 17
Over the next few days.
The buzz around the expo at Ciyun Mountain Park showed no signs of fading. While the number of locals was gradually decreasing, there was an influx of out-of-town visitors, especially clients seeking partnerships, who arrived one after another.
Even high-end restaurants from Shanghai sent representatives.
The average daily transaction volume reached as high as five to six million yuan.
While individual orders from each high-end restaurant were only for ten to twenty kilograms, the sheer number of such establishments in the country was more than enough to compensate.
It wasn’t just Western restaurants; some high-end Chinese restaurants and innovative fusion establishments were also scrambling for products like the White Truffles and Vanilla Strawberries.
The Pearl River Delta Region alone was home to several hundred mid-to-high-end restaurants. Adding in the dozens of high-end restaurants from Hong Kong and Macao, their combined daily consumption of White Truffles could reach several dozen kilograms.
Currently, Nanhu Farm’s 36 acres of smart greenhouses for White Truffle cultivation weren’t being harvested all at once. Instead, they were planted in batches, with about 3 acres ready for harvest each month.
Based on the first harvest of White Truffles, the current planting density with the three-level vertical layout resulted in a yield of approximately 2,793 kilograms per acre, which was in line with the initial estimates.
Harvesting 3 acres a month resulted in a yield of about 8,300 kilograms.
Thus, as orders and contracts piled up, the sales department’s remaining allocation of White Truffles dwindled.
Especially after high-end restaurants from the Yangtze River Delta Region and Hong Kong and Macao joined the buying frenzy, monthly orders had accumulated to nearly five thousand kilograms.
In other words, only a little over three thousand three hundred kilograms of the monthly allocation was left.
「On the sixth day of the expo.」
High-end restaurants from the Capital City and other major cities, as well as from East Japan, South Korea, and even parts of Southeast Asia, also rushed over.
The final monthly allocation of roughly three thousand three hundred kilograms was quickly snapped up by these high-end restaurants.
Faced with such market enthusiasm, Jiang Miao and the others were somewhat surprised. They simply hadn’t expected the market to be this voracious.
As the head of the Agricultural Planting Division, Lü Weibin was also astonished when he saw the sales brief. "It seems the sales data for wild truffles in previous years gave us a false impression. We thought the annual market for truffles was only two or three tons. It’s clear now that wild truffle production was the limiting factor for the market."
"Exactly!" Li Zhou also exclaimed.
Beside them, Qin Hanming, head of the Sales Department’s Price Research Office, pulled out a market research and analysis report.
"As of October 2025, there are 4,122 Michelin-starred restaurants and 369 Black Pearl-rated restaurants worldwide. Considering some overlap, and the fact that many high-end domestic restaurants aren’t on these lists, we estimate the total number of high-end restaurants globally exceeds 10,000. Even if only half of them purchase our White Truffles, the market is still enormous."
"Hanming, you think half of all those restaurants will purchase White Truffles?" Lü Weibin asked curiously.
Qin Hanming nodded. "Yes. Because truffles are basically a standard ingredient in high-end Western restaurants. The vast majority of Michelin restaurants are Western-style. Add to that the high-quality Western restaurants in our country that aren’t Michelin-rated, and you have at least 5,000 high-end restaurants worldwide that need to procure White Truffles."
Based on that data, Lü Weibin did some quick mental math and made a rough estimate. "Assuming each restaurant consumes 1 kilogram of White Truffles per day, that’s 5,000 kilograms a day. It seems our previously planned production capacity was too conservative."
"If we expand production now, is it too late?" Li Zhou asked. He didn’t want to miss this golden opportunity.
Lü Weibin thought for a moment, took out a piece of scratch paper to do some calculations, and then looked up. "It’s possible. If we use the remaining 118 acres of smart greenhouses and adjust the vertical layout to fit four planting levels, we can produce 4.6 tons of White Truffles per day."
Qin Hanming nodded. "4.6 tons? That could work. But we should consider leaving some room for the wild truffle market to survive. I suggest we moderately reduce our production during the four months when wild truffles are in season, in order to maintain stable market prices."
"Agreed." Lü Weibin had no objections.
"I agree as well. Hanming, write up a report and get it to me as soon as possible. I need to inform the boss about this," Li Zhou, as Qin Hanming’s direct superior, instructed him.
"Okay!"
That day at noon, during their lunch break.
Lü Weibin and Li Zhou reported to Jiang Miao on the expo’s sales figures and their plan to further expand White Truffle production.
Jiang Miao read the report from the Price Research Office and nodded. "Good. It seems we need to establish a Market Research Department."
He turned his head to Jiang Haibo at the next table. "Haibo, spin off the Price Research Office from the Sales Department and form a new Market Research Department. Appoint Qin Hanming as its manager."
Jiang Haibo quickly swallowed the food in his mouth and replied, "Roger that."
Their report finished, Li Zhou and Lü Weibin quickly made themselves scarce, not wanting to disturb the boss and his wife.
Jiang Miao said helplessly, "It seems plans can’t keep up with the changes. How’s your research on the Morchella coming along?"
Lin Shuya, who already looked exasperated, took a sip of her chicken soup. "It’s already done. The yield can reach about 8 tons per acre with a 73-day production cycle. What do we do now?"
"Let me think..." Jiang Miao felt a major headache coming on.
’If we mass-produce it, we’ll have to build another new smart greenhouse.’
’But if we don’t, we’d be wasting this technology.’
’After all, a yield of 8 tons per acre with a production cycle of only 73 days meant they could produce five crops a year, totaling about 40 tons per acre annually.’
