Chapter 279: Bring Victory!
Seth’s eyelids slowly parted, his blurry sight clearing with each blink as he sat up from the bed, assaulted with the sudden relief and stark clarity of his mind.
"Sleep really was," he muttered, as he stretched, his heart thrumming with heavy beats, his dense blood circulation bringing revitalizing chills with each passing flow.
He felt ready and high‑spirited. Glancing at his watch to confirm the time, he blinked in surprise.
"I’ve been out for 11 hours?" He quickly leapt from his bed in shock and hurry.
If his calculation was right, everything should be all set by now.
Tsk tsk, the mental fatigue was really more than he expected, but considering the series of events he passed through before even getting a wink of sleep...
From forging, to meetings, to allocations, to helping the division soldiers with ascension — the stress was accounted for.
Seth didn’t bother to take a bath even though he preferred the flow of water on his skin. There was simply no time for that.
With a gentle pulse of essence, all grime, sweat, and dirt flakes on him were vaporized. He put on a tight all‑black military jumper suit before equipping his genetic battle suit.
Bursting out of the doors, he startled the guards who barely caught a clear glimpse of the person they were supposedly protecting before he vanished into a blur.
The rendezvous point for mission takeoff had long been informed to be in the Pentagon.
There Seth assumed they’d use the warp gates to jump straight to the destination of their targets... Dragons.
Thinking of these majestic creatures, a memory of an encounter with one flashed through his mind, causing his heart to skip.
The raw power stifling his being, the deadly flow of burning essence licking against his skin — he recalled it vividly.
Back during the mission to eradicate the Blood Order, he had been forced to flee by that creature.
At that point Seth knew if he dared confront the beast, he would never have been a match. If that remained the same now was up to question.
But the fear of standing before the wrathful behemoth was ingrained into his muscles.
Diving through the clouds, he caught sight of the massive construct of the Pentagon from above.
Without hesitation he commenced a rapid descent, his feet meeting the ground in a matter of seconds. Though he tried his best to numb the quake of wind, a few heavy sweeping gusts still escaped into the surroundings.
Seth’s presence had been long awaited. Men in black led him in. These guys had adapted and had given up on coming to pick Seth personally.
The guy could just fly over — plus he seemed faster that way.
Seth held a long silence through the minutes where they led him through hallways, before coming to a stop before a special elevator.
With a chime, both doors of the vertical carriage parted and the two agents motioned for him to step into it.
Seth wasn’t surprised. He knew exactly where they were heading...
Stepping into it, he punched the lowest button and the doors slid back closed, leaving only him within as it began to plummet, carrying him down to the last floor.
A familiar place where a certain warp gate resided... By the time the doors of the elevator chimed open again...
Before him were evolvers of all seven divisions lined in seven uneven queues.
Seth’s gaze glinted. Ready for takeoff, eh? But he didn’t let his thoughts reflect, wearing a straight poker face as he made his way to the very front of the line.
There he saw familiar faces. His teammates stood at the head of their respective divisions, but looking down left, two figures stood at the head of two divisions that were unfamiliar.
One carried a big robust build with clean‑cut low hair, his eyes pulsing with faint shades of sanguine while dressed in full armor. This had to be Lukas Martinez, the top evolver from Mexico.
Then there was the slender frail‑looking figure with an extremely pale complexion, ginger‑haired with amber pupils glowing faintly, his eyelids remaining half‑closed.
Unlike everyone here, this guy was dressed in lax joggers and a tank top, almost too casual in contrast to the current situation.
But Seth knew straight away this had to be Dorien Alister, the top evolver from the Canadian team.
Giving both parties a respectful nod, Lukas responded, while Dorien stared forward blankly, almost as though lost in the immersion of distant nothing.
Seth didn’t make anything of it, and stood at the head of his division, eyes lighting up with excitement the moment he took his place.
His mere coincidence solidified the already thick majestic presence of the row of false bronze humans.
Seth’s gaze gleamed, a hint of mischief flickering behind their depths. Well, that won’t be the same for long. He squinted.
With what he planned to put them through, these guys would all be true bronze humans before the next war.
"Good, you are all here!" The president addressed with a content grin.
Everything was prepared within the prime timeframe. The success rate of the Sword Divisions’ first mission was sky‑high, and his mood was elated.
Seth really saved their asses on this one. Though he could sense the palpable difference from the evolvers of Seth’s division, he still wasn’t clear on what was causing it.
And of course he did not care for now. As long as it was a beneficial means they could use to win this war, he was content.
Eyes glowing with pride, excitement, and anticipation, he continued, his words ringing with thick folds of charismatic presence.
"Now you all are about to commence on your first mission!" he barked, causing the soldiers to tense up instinctively.
Most of the guys here were veterans when it came to decimating the corrupted, but this was still the very first war they were going to fight in.
A war that held disastrous stakes as heavy as racial extinction.
The president continued, "You are about to face brutal wrathful beasts that seek nothing but the doom of everything you love and will ever love!
Remember lads, you are the swords of the human race. Your job is to cleave through the enemy with an effective strike and devastating intent.
There should be no hesitation! No reluctance! This is war. Only the strongest and smartest shall win. All others..." The president didn’t complete it, but as his now cold gaze scanned through the crowd, he nodded, seeing that they understood.
This very first mission was important. It was their baptism of blood, and they would need victory — and that could only be driven by both morale and determination to see the enemy die!
"Good! I won’t bore you all with any more of my nonsense..."
Suddenly the gigantic warp device slowly revved to life, multicolored sparks flickering behind the president, slowly consolidating into a swirling mass of folded space!
"You all have the details of this mission! So I won’t elaborate further. Now go and bring the human race victory!" the president cheered, fist high.
A loud bellow echoed as all the soldiers heaved in affirmation, marching forward in orderly fearless lines.
Eyes flashing with steeled determination, they would be bringing victory to the human race no matter what. Dragon or not, whatever they faced would have only one end... Death!
