Chapter 278: Finalizing Preparations
The next few events for Seth were quite monotonous. He arrived at the base where the division soldiers lay in wait.
Fortunately, allied recruit evolvers were here, both from the southern side and the northern neighbors. There seemed to be a meeting among the division leaders in order to familiarize with the Canadian and Mexican evolver leaders.
But this part Seth left to his teammates. He didn’t have much time, so he went straight to business, getting into a field where the first batch of evolvers sat cross‑legged in wait.
The ascension progressed immediately. All the days he had spent helping government and military officials over the past few days had helped.
He was now adept and more intricate in will manipulation, and with each set he was done with, this progress only seemed to improve.
Each batch increased in soldier count, as he did his best to anchor them to the Savage Oasis for ascension.
The trial was grueling, but fortunately the world essence soothed his mind and helped him recover enough will each time.
But it could do nothing about the mental fatigue that was steadily building. Still, Seth held off. His goal was to finish with all the soldiers before he could allow himself some sleep before they departed for war.
And he stayed true to this goal, holding out with sheer willpower for a total of 29 hours through it all, expending will every second except brief periods of recovery that barely lasted a 40‑second interval before going back to work.
One might imagine that the stronger an evolver got, the lesser their ties to mundane constraints were.
And while that was true, it was also false. The higher a lifeform’s state, the more they demanded from nature.
They would eat more to maintain the sheer dense and massive biological mass they carried. Their higher strength, speed, and defense would all require a high‑quality dose of daily calories to maintain.
Though in some instances pure essence absorption could be used as a substitute, this was a bare minimum that wouldn’t keep evolvers in top shape.
This same logic applied to the mind. Not only did they have an absurd amount of intelligence, hence higher cognitive factors and information processing capabilities...
Their mind was also housing their manifested will. All these functions naturally took their toll mentally.
Which meant, yes, sleep was required even for Awakened rank evolvers. Though the amount needed would be shorter, and the maximum resilience of the mind higher, they still needed it regardless.
Especially when one performed an exercise akin to the kind Seth spent hours repeating.
And with a last retraction, he was done with the final batch of evolver soldiers. Though there were more seeking a chance, Seth didn’t see the need to take an extra mile.
He was already done with all the evolvers from all seven divisions. The others could wait for all he cared.
If they couldn’t, they could also just proceed to ascend. The spawning would be random, but they’d all reach the Awakened rank regardless.
It wasn’t like there would be a real immediate threat to their lives.
Getting to his feet, Seth’s head pulsed with a throbbing migraine, his vision going blurry at every step.
Even if the world essence helped him recover his will, the core mental stress weighed heavily.
He staggered his way to the nearest room, one long prepared for him, and he straight up collapsed on the bed.
He had full assurance that all following processes were left in good hands. By the time he woke, Kylie should have sorted the bronze upgrade serums, and his teammates should have prepared the mechanized gear that would be needed for their battle.
That, along with resources and valuable tacticals...
Holding these assuring thoughts in mind, he drifted into a long‑deserved deep slumber...
The remaining hours ticked by. Within this time frame everything had been organized. The batches of all six model mechas had been completed and allocated.
The Gordon 342 battle suits had all been delivered and were currently on standby, while Uriel led all 140 evolvers from the 1st division straight to the research facility.
To no one’s surprise, these guys still hadn’t clocked the average 100 stat requirements after ascending to the Awakened rank.
After all, stat counts reset upon evolution. Plus, not everyone were monsters like Seth and the others. While the growth speed of the evolvers was quite quick, it couldn’t compare.
Arriving at the research facility, Kylie delivered, collecting the men and women batch by batch, injecting them with the bronze upgrade serum.
Monitoring each assimilation process to make sure it all commenced without a hitch.
This was a project given to her by Seth after all, and she was sure to dedicate her all to make sure it all progressed smoothly.
And like that, within hours the most fearsome battalion group on the planet had just been forged!
A total of 140 bronze humans. Even if false, the stat effectiveness boost was no joke. Plus, they’d still benefit from a diluted version of the racial skill Universal Adaptation.
Plus, Kylie had helped indicate every soldier’s psychic force, and she discovered that at least a good 74% of the evolvers awakened the mental wave that let them manipulate metal‑based objects.
While the remaining few all awakened mental waves that let them manipulate other types of matter, not just metals.
With this she could determine that the most common mental wave frequency that most humans would awaken on achieving the bronze rank would be able to interact with metals.
The rest should be rare variables...
Once they were done, all pseudo bronze humans were fully checked and confirmed to be in top states. They were permitted to leave.
Seth had communicated his idea to his teammates previously. While they supported his plan, they refused to benefit from it.
They felt they already leached off him enough as is. Helping them achieve the bronze human state was something their pride wouldn’t allow.
They were geniuses too. They didn’t want to end up as greenhouse specimens that couldn’t stand wind or rain.
They would achieve the bronze rank definitely, but it would be by their own efforts, they had declared. Even the ever‑playful Brandon had made this clear.
And Seth respected it...
Everything was ready — from equipment to soldiers. The president had rallied the divisions. All that remained keeping them anticipating was just one man... Seth!
