Chapter 284: The Dragon’s Genesis Nest
Two weeks later...
Within the Oval Office of the White House, standing before the president’s desk, an aide stood reading out war reports for the president.
The aide let out a heavy breath, straightening the file, he started to read the contents out loud.
Relaying the progress at all battle fronts within their jurisdiction; their authority spanned the land mass that was once the dual continents of the Americas.
The report was quite long, but the aide skilfully only read out vital information, wasting less time.
And one piece of information made the president’s eyes light up, the sudden report of the absence of dragons.
Dragons, the moment the war began and the other races commenced on the offense, these beasts had been a nuisance.
A terror to the human troops, each time the enemies sent forth their army with dragons acting as their vanguard, the human soldiers would know it was their end.
There was nothing they could do to defend against dragons; these beasts were perfect in all forms of combat, be it aerial or ground attacks.
The fire breathing beasts were machines of war, and nothing in the humans’ arsenal could go against them.
But recently the sightings of dragons had been abnormally scant, alarming the commanders at the war fronts.
They feared that the dragons were gathering together to form a massive flock that would launch a deciding attack at once.
But the president knew that couldn’t be true; the only reason dragons were scant in the first place was because they were being hunted.
These mighty flame incarnates—some might call them—were being eradicated in the dark.
So far the president oversaw missions, allocating mission after mission for all seven divisions.
And so far throughout the series of small-scale battles and clashes that followed, they hadn’t had a single fatality.
They did have a few injured men, but the Mecha’s pilot care system was so reliable that they wouldn’t have to bother about it affecting missions.
These kids have aced mission after mission, even the president was in awe; the battle capacity of the mechas was definitely higher than anticipated.
Especially division one, the president had sent them straight into the worst of missions, especially the ones specifically targeted as mass dragon slaying.
And every time, Seth’s crew delivered, even on times the president had feared he might have pushed them too far.
They still performed above his expectations. The president couldn’t tell what method Seth was using to make his men this strong, but it sure was effective as hell.
The report continued on, ending with a formal request from the head generals of the military.
A request to deploy the new bloods, because the president had kept the matters of the seven divisions as strictly confidential.
In the eyes of the others, the new bloods were just sitting back in the safezones unassigned to war, and lying about doing nothing.
Naturally the Ironbloods wouldn’t let that stunt pass, which was why they were quick to be so vocal; they hoped that if they could pressure the president enough, he would deploy the new bloods their way.
And as usual the president barely acknowledged the request and gave no room for thought.
Instead his eyes glowed in anticipation—today the last group of flame dragons would be eradicated; this time, all divisions had been deployed to the same mission.
They were going to raid the flame dragon genesis nest.
A place of origin for all flame dragons, where most laid their eggs, and where most dragons were nurtured to maturity.
This was the same pocket dimension they had been sealed in, a place that most likely held beings beyond the awakened grade as a tenant.
All current flame dragons had wormed their way back to Earth, due to the Origin’s arrival, but this place still held all that was left of their race.
It was also a perfect target they had to hit for the completion of their goal.
The complete eradication of the flame dragon kind—the last living descendants of the gold dragon king.
The president clasped his hands together, his gaze going narrow, everything was in place.
Now all that was left would be the execution of the plan.
As long as the division followed orders, the figures that were grades above the awakened realm would be dealt with.
"Let’s just hope everything goes according to the plan..." the president murmured silently under his breath, before progressing to the next problem...
.....
In the farthest part of the seas, a place extremely far away from the super continent, a massive island sat, at the heart of the sea.
The massive landmass carried a colossal, super-dormant volcano.
The skies in these regions were always stormy and the wind quite turbulent, as the ocean waves smashed against the ashen shores of the crimson island.
A place holding a temporal confinement that linked it to being an overlap of reality and a pocket dimension.
This was specifically the dragon’s Genesis nest. The spawning point for every crimson-scaled dragon of this era.
And somehow the president had the spatial coordinates to this specific area.
Allowing them to initiate a mass teleportation with all seven divisions, arriving through space to this specific region.
A wormhole tore through space, establishing a connection, and with a blinding pulse of light, massive frames appeared on the open shores.
Hulking vestiges of metal and energy bled into reality, carrying different builds, six distinct models to be exact.
While smaller frames appeared in troves, coated in silver-blue exo armour pulsating with runes.
All seven divisions from the human attack forces were here.
They had done their best to keep their attacks on dragons as inconspicuous as could be.
Making their attacks precise and as swift as could be, all while taking care of the cleanup.
And so far so good, things had been going smoothly and now was the most difficult part of their quest to eradicate this entire species of dragons.
Seth hovered over the ashen shores of the island, his troops behind him ready for action.
Two weeks of constant battle and slaughter had hardened the bunch even more.
The army now had a polished edge, their gaits showing these subtle changes.
Now carrying a more tense and alert frame, always in constant awareness of their blind spots, as they moved like a single coordinated unit.
Staring at the crimson peaks of the island, Seth’s grip over his spear tightened, steeling his nerves, he led the march forward.
The moment all divisions got together, the leadership role was seamlessly handed over to Seth.
And surprisingly neither the Canadian friends nor the Mexican allies objected.
So now, Seth was single-handedly in charge of all seven divisions, and their attack on this island would be led by him.
The island shook in a faint tremor the moment the human feet met the shore.
This was a subtle sign that showed them that the dragons had most likely been alerted of their arrival and their element of surprise was gone.
Seth silently registered this fact, and continued marching forward regardless.
The group warily progressed, the troops all having their energy weapons activated just in case.
While Seth’s spear tip scraped against the blackish earthen surface of the island.
And just then out of nowhere riding with a billowing gust of wind, a swarm of dragons zipped their way.
"These bunch are stronger," Seth silently acknowledged, as his mental scan washed across several miles, registering the might of each presence.
These dragons seemed to be at the very peak of the awakened rank...
This... this will definitely be a tough match-up. Their mecha suits revved with full power, progressing unflinchingly.
Their energy swords swung through the wind to collide with their foe.
The dragons met them with full fury, blazing breaths raging through the skies, bringing everything in their paths to utter ash.
The metal plates of the humans’ armor burned red hot under the intense baptism, the heat-resistant compounds standing strong against the intense heat and pressure.
The evolvers pushed against the torrents, weapons swinging as they met with the dragons; days of constantly assaulting dragons were shown in their every move.
Each soldier, absent-mindedly adapting a unique and distinct battle style that seemed to be specifically targeting dragons.
To think universal adaptation also applied to mental factors, this was definitely a battle style adapted to facing these flame incarnates.
Each delivering stroke after stroke of attacks, each movement fueled by experience, each shift in stance born out of necessity to win!
The dragons weren’t a foe to this bunch from the attack divisions; they were nothing more than mere prey.
Within minutes the entire swarm of dragons had all been butchered.
Their bodies rolled down the volcanic slope, while the assault force progressed.
The dragons lying within the deeper regions of this Genesis nest were shaken awake by the sudden anomaly.
Their vanguard force had been decimated so quickly it was evident they were under attack.
A thunderous growl broke through the wind, an entity from the dragon race stirred awake. Its eyes snapping open in a cave of total darkness, a low growl quaking through the caves.
"All Intruders Die!"
