The two strings of text appeared in front of two different people across a fair distance, but neither of them could see or even read it at all.
They were already fully asleep.
A few seconds after the text appeared, both Morden’s and Darlus’s bodies slowly began breaking into tiny pieces. The tiny pieces broke into even smaller pieces until they were small enough to drift and merge into the fog.
A minute after the process had begun, there was nobody lying on the forest floor anymore, and there was no one leaning on the tree.
The Forest of Chaos was just there undisturbed, especially after the Great Fog was slowly receding backwards into God knows where.
It receded at a speed much faster than when it arrived, leaving a large patch of the forest exposed in the blink of an eye.
Soon, it was already where Lisa was sitting.
She had also noticed the Great Fog Leaving, but she still didn’t dare move due to the fear of what would happen if she did.
Not until everything was completely gone did she dare turn her head to look around, hoping to share her experience with either of them.
She had heard something for the first time since she had memories, but it was an extremely confusing, Soul Chilling sentence.
"The deaf can hear, but the sightful cannot see," she muttered while she got up on her feet.
After that moment she was already back to the mind-numbing silence she was used to, and it actually gave her a sense of peace.
"I better try to look for those other two,"
"Immature kids that just can’t sit their asses down and think,"
She looked all around her, attempting to gauge where the two could have headed off in. She decided on one direction and just headed there without hesitation.
****In the direction she was headed****
A large group of people that appeared to be Bearers dressed in a diverse range of armor and holding different weapons, looked at a much simpler person in front of them with a questioning gaze.
It was obvious they had something to say, but none of them actually had the gut to say anything until one person eventually stopped up.
"Lord Marcus, shouldn’t we have encountered the fog by now?" a man dressed in large bulky armor asked with his head bowed quite deeply.
The man called Marcus turned around to face the other members of the group with a wide smile and thin eyes.
"Yes, we should have, but the fact that we haven’t—what do you think has happened, and whose fault exactly do you think that is?" Marcus asked.
When they heard his question, everyone in the group looked between one another, searching for someone to give an answer to that statement, but no one stepped up.
Hearing that, Marcus’s smile slowly shrunk while the veins on his head throbbed with astonishing intensity. It took everything he had for me to not lash out on everybody there
"It seems I need to rephrase my question again so you can understand me better."
"Whose fault was it that those kids managed to get out of the city so fast?"
"Whose fault was it for wasting extra time searching the city as a team instead of splitting up?"
"Whose fault was it that it took us so long for us to get here?"
"With the answers you have for those questions and the fact that since we can see the Fog now, it means it has receded,"
"Combine all your answers and tell me who is to blame," Marcus said in a loud voice.
Just like the last time, the group turned to look at one another, each giving positive nods to the other, and in the end, they raised their voices to answer.
"We don’t blame you for this, Lord Marcus."
Marcus: (× ×)
The urge to spit out blood was so overwhelming for him that he barely managed to remain standing.
"Hmmmm," he released a deep sigh in order to calm down.
"We have missed the Opportunity, the fog has probably consumed the attributed kids for now, so we can only return to the city entrance to wait," Marcus Instructed.
The group members looked slightly reluctant to follow that order, but the moment they saw the Stern expression on Marcus’s face, they immediately turned around, ready to leave.
"How can a group of Two-ringed Bearers be so dumb?" Marcus muttered while shaking his head.
He watched them go a little distance away before also deciding to return, but that wasn’t without him turning around to look towards a specific tree.
He stared at it for a few seconds before looking away with a smile.
"I am sure he saw me. Why didn’t he do anything about it, though?" Lisa said while she continued looking at the leaving group.
During her search for the other two boys, she had stumbled upon the group, and that was why she was hiding behind the tree to eavesdrop.
She wanted to confirm some things, and by the end of the conversation, she actually confirmed them all.
"They are the group of Bearers that have been after us since we left Evergreen city,"
"They seem to have more information about this Citywide Event than we do."
"They aren’t the ones that took Morden and Darlus."
After she had searched their immediate environment and even tried using her eye ability to try and track their current location and had ended up failing on both instances, she had concluded that they had been taken by the Great fog or their pursuers.
One box has been cancelled, and one thing has been confirmed. She was now all alone.
****In an unknown location****
Morden lay flat on the ground, his closed eyes facing the clear sky and sounds of chirping insects all around him.
