"Have you initiated the procedure?" the Lion-like Genetic Beast said to the bowing Servant in front of it.

"Yes, Lord, the Great Fog is already spreading throughout the Forest as we speak."

"Alright, that’s great then; we wouldn’t mind the sacrifices we need to make as long as we are able to successfully complete the mission."

—----

"Lisa! Darlus!" Morden called out as the fog had reached a really crushing density; almost everywhere in his line of sight was completely filled.

He could even barely see his own hands, and even breathing became increasingly difficult.

The scream he had let out previously was all for nothing since his voice didn’t even travel far at all.

It was so bad, it was almost certain that he himself barely heard his own voice.

’Damn, Damn, Damn,’ we are screwed.

’Second Time in the Omnisphere, and we are already setting off City. Wide events, trapped in a killing death fog,’

’Was the Administrator actually right?’

’Wherever I go, does death and trouble actually follow?’

Though Morden wanted to push that thought out of his head as fast as possible, his memories of his last few days after his trial and even the time here hasn’t been anything more than trouble.

Jumping from one hot mess into another hot mess.

’No no, now is not the time to think about shit like that, Now is the time to think of any way to get out of this freaking scenario,’ he thought with gritted teeth.

Looking around him, there was nothing but a dense white fog, so there wasn’t particularly anyone he could ask for help.

’I am on my own; I have to think of a Way myself.’

’But how? I barely even know anything about this phenomenon except its name and the fact that it is an important event checkpoint.

’Can I outrun this thing?’ Morden thought.

If he had learned anything back on earth when he was still in school, it would be the fact that Gases have a more randomized method of movement so they shouldn’t move.

Though he could remember how fast it had enshrouded the three of them earlier, he still felt he could outrun it.

With that thought in mind, Morden turned towards what he believed to be the way out and then bent his knee slightly before shooting out like a spring.

He didn’t dare use Boost in such a situation, since the back to back battle had him mostly drained so he had about a single use left that he planned to keep for emergencies alone.

Morden pushed his leg as far as he could, parting the cloud aside as he rushed through it.

’I hope Lisa and Darlus actually find someone to do it.’

While he ran, Morden could feel his body temperature increase by leaps and bounds, his breath growing shorter the longer he went on.

But he didn’t stop; he didn’t even think of stopping, he just ran. He ran with the full focus on getting out of the fog.

The longer he ran, the more he slowly started regretting his decision to actually run.

His shortness of breath made it such that he had to take deeper breaths just to keep himself active and not fall unconscious from Oxygen deprivation.

That wasn’t the best idea, though.

Instead of actually making an escape out of the fog, he ended up inhaling a large amount of the fog and now that was causing some crazy reactions in him at the moment.

’Shi, things are growing a little fuzzy, and it’s quite hard to concentrate.’

’It’s getting even harder to pay attention to anything.’

The more time he spent running, the worse that feeling. grew, at one point, Morden slowly felt his eyelids growing heavy and his muscles losing their tension. He was slowly falling asleep.

He was falling asleep while running at full speed, and it added a deeper layer of strangeness to the event that had started.

Just as expected, his loss of focus eventually cost him and Morden ended up tripping on a root in the forest floor which sent him flying.

THUD!

His body hit the ground harshly, but it didn’t stop immediately after; instead, he still rolled forward for a few more minutes.

The pain wasn’t enough to jolt Morden awake, though; if anything, it made his sleep deepen even further.

’I guess there’s no fighting it then.’

That was the last thought that came into Morden’s mind before everything went totally dark.

Not too far away.

Darlus didn’t take Morden’s approach of running through the forest, he just waved his hand in front of him like a blind man until his hand managed to touch a tree.

A wave of relief washed over him as his almost fully closed eyes widened slightly.

He skillfully moved his body despite being extremely tired, such that his back was facing the tree and he shifted backwards a little bit.

He was now leaning on the tree.

With a steady pose, Darlus slowly closed his and fell into the same deep sleep state Morden was in.

In the location where the trio had previously been standing, only Lisa remained there.

Unlike the other two, she wasn’t sleepy, in fact she wasn’t tired in any way but her brows remained furrowed in a way that showed extreme confusion instead of anger.

Her eyes were glowing slightly, but she still couldn’t see a single thing. Her most reliable weapon and tool was now rendered useless.

More experienced than the other two, she didn’t do something none of the other two had tried.

She had started slowly revolving Vital Energy around her body, from her head down to her toes but most especially her eyes and that was the only reason she hadn’t completely fallen asleep now.

She increased the amount she pumped towards her eyes but it still didn’t change anything, in the department of sight that is, in other places though, something was going on.

There was an extremely faint sound in her mind.

As a deaf person, that was completely unheard of. For her everything has always been completely silent, no background noise, nothing.

And now, she could hear something, not through her ears, directly through her soul.

’The deaf can hear where the Sightful can’t see.’
