He hadn’t even managed to kill one of the beasts, and now there were two facing him at the same time.

"This needs a lot of thinking now," he muttered.

The two wolves shared a tacit look, and then the next moment the two charged at Morden at exactly the same time.

They moved so much in tandem that it made it much harder for Morden to know how to dodge.

’Which one do I focus on first?’ he thought while shifting his gaze between the two of them.

The two wolves were now at attack distance, and they did just that. They both leaped into the air, their jaws both aimed directly at Morden’s head, the only difference being the fact that they were coming from opposite directions.

[Durability +10 (temp)]

[Speed +10(temp)]

He felt his skin harden and his legs grow lighter at the same time.

He ducked as fast as he could, effectively dodging the two jaws while also giving him barely enough room to counter.

He twisted his waist to almost a full 90 degrees, and then he slashed upward with all the force he could generate.

’You will go down once at a time,’

This time dexterity couldn’t help it, and one of the Forest wolves almost had its body caught in half.

It wasn’t dead, but it was surely at the brink of death.

But Morden also didn’t escape scot-free, the attack he used was dangerous, he could have dislocated his spine with such a move but thankfully he had managed to use Boost to Increase his Durability.

’Now time for the second one.’

Seeing that their attack had missed and now one of their own was almost dead, the Forest wolf grew mad. It abandoned all reasoning and just charged at Morden.

It showed no skill or tactics; all it wanted to do was kill Morden, and that played out well for Morden.

He got his ghost slayer sword ready again and prepared to use Boost for the third time, increasing his strength all the way and killing this mad wolf in a clean strike.

The Wolf got into the sword range, and without batting an eye, Morden brought his sword down.

The force in the attack was heavy enough to produce a whistling sound as his sword cut through the air cleanly.

His attack connected directly on the beast’s head but just as it was about to cut through.

’Growl!!!!!!’

A third beast just joined.

This time he was in the midst of an attack, and the beast was aiming straight for his stomach.

’I can’t stop this attack,’

He couldn’t use Boost to increase his Durability either as it was increasing his strength currently, and switching in such a short period was impossible.

Just as the bite was about to make contact.

BAM!!!!

An Icicle flew in just in time, and with so much Force that it didn’t just pierce the beast, it ended up nailing it into a tree adjacent to Morden.

Darlus’ perfect interference saved the day and allowed Morden to kill the Forest Wolf in front of him and avoid any major injuries.

[Ding!]

Congratulations, you have killed two Common-grade Forest Wolves and have obtained the Forest Wolf gene shard (×2).

[Other rewards: two small-scale Vital Energy Infusion]

[Infusion shall begin now.]

Morden read the word "infusion," and memories of the pain he felt first resurfaced in his mind.

But unlike what Morden had expected, there was no pain anywhere; he just felt two gentle streams of Vital Energy crawl into his body.

They flowed through his body extremely peacefully, giving Morden the feeling of being fully energized for a bit until he eventually changed direction and headed towards his body core where his Genetic Tree was.

They arrived in the blink of an eye, and as peacefully as possible, they blended into the tree. Almost immediately one could notice the slow but visible growth of the tree.

Even Morden, who couldn’t directly see what was going on, could actually feel it.

’My Genetic Tree actually grew. Now we are making progress,’ he said with a broad smile.

He didn’t care at all about the notification he had received about the Forest wolf gene shard since he didn’t have a Forest wolf gene.

"If only I could convert it," he muttered before pushing the thought to the back of his head.

There was nothing he could do, so he might as well forget about it and check up on his friends.

He turned towards the direction he came in and headed back to the clearing, hoping to meet up with the rest.

He didn’t walk far before he saw both Lisa and Darlus sitting down while they waited for him.

"Thank you, teacher, you saved this student," Morden said to Darlus the moment he grew close enough.

"Hahahhahahah, it’s fine, it’s fine, I always help those weaker than myself," Darlus said with a wide grin.

Both Morden and Lisa had noticed he had been behaving slightly odd since they had entered the Omnisphere again, seeing a smile so widely made along with him.

’It seems he had gotten the confidence boost he needed,’ Morden thought while turning to look at Lisa.

’She also took care of two Forest Wolves herself without a single scratch on her; her clothes aren’t even ruffled; it must’ve been extremely easy.’

’She is strong, but I am also growing.’

"So what do we do now? I don’t think we can stay here anymore," Darlus said.

"Yeah, we need to leave as soon as possible actually," Lisa seconded.

With that the trio immediately began taking care of the environment or better said they were trying to cover up any track they might have left that could notify those people that they had been here.

The hunted can never afford to be careful.

They moved all the Forest Wolf corpses to a side, cleared some grasses that they placed in areas that could have any signs of them and soon they felt like they were done.

"I think we are ready to go," Morden was just about to say when a figure came into their view and spoke in a gentle tone.

"Don’t tell me you want to leave just like that."

"Attributed Trio."
