Chapter 71: Monkey Group
Morden could do nothing except stand there and stare at the approaching group. From their swinging speed, he was sure he couldn’t outrun them unless he used a boost.
The next moment, the two leading Golden-furred Monkeys were already close enough to him, so they stopped and waited for their group members.
Woooooooo haahaa!!!
The two shouted while jumping excitedly on the same branch they had stopped all while excitedly pointing at Morden as if trying to show others their prized discovery.
"What the hell is going on?" Morden muttered.
Following the lead of the first two, the other monkeys also stopped and immediately began excitedly chattering. They didn’t just stop at that; Morden watched as they slowly began separating and making way for what looked to be a much larger monkey.
He hadn’t actually seen it yet, but Morden was sure that it would be absolutely massive. Each of its swings was accompanied by a large and violent shake of the tree.
Soon, it finally got into sight, and all Morden could say was, ’ohhh.’
"Massive" was absolutely the wrong word to use; it had already outscaled that by a large margin, even calling it a Monkey seems like sullying it.
It would be more accurate to call it a Gorilla and not just a normal Gorilla, a gigantic one.
In front of such a sight, the only thing Morden could do was be there and gawk.
’I am almost certain that this is Epic-grade or higher. It can surely squash me like a bug with a single finger.
His wait finally ended as the beast eventually landed in front of him, kicking up a large amount of red dust.
"Wooh ha," he suddenly heard the Monkey leader say while pointing at Morden and also the group behind it.
"Uhhh? what the hell is that supposed to mean?" he answered with a confused face.
"Wooh ha," the monkey lord repeated while making the same gesture, but this time he added a little point to the stomach.
It even proceeds to point at a tree beside it.
"Stomach? tree? me? them? together? What?"
Mordeen knew he wasn’t actually calm enough, but he wasn’t up for that kind of interaction now; all he wanted to do was cross over and get to obtain Gene shards, not make friends.
He watched as they all looked at him with an expectant gaze, as if waiting for him to respond; in the end, he gave in and gave it a deeper thought.
"Tree and stomach, it can be tree on stomach, Tree and stomach, or even Tree in stomach."
"Wait, tree in stomach, isn’t that the genetic tree?"
"Genetic tree, me and them together,"
"Is this guy trying to tell me that we all have the same genetic tree?"
"Probably because I recorded a gene from their kind,"
The group of Monkeys remained excited as they watched Morden mutter to himself.
The moment he was done, Morden looked up at the Monkey leader and nodded with a smile.
"Wooo haaaaaa," the Monkey leader said while nodding back with a composed face.
"So? what now?"
The Monkey leader then turned around as if it was getting ready to leave; its group member also did the same, but unlike their leader, they actually Started moving.
The massive group of monkey beasts were now hopping from tree to tree, leaving only their leader behind. Soon the Monkey leader actually got started moving too, but before it actually did his first swing, it turned to look at Morden and beckoned at him.
’Is he telling me to follow them? I don’t have time; I need to get to the other side.’
Seeing that Morden was hesitant, it just stretched out its hand, grabbed hold of Morden, and then placed him directly on its shoulder without a care.
’It is abducting me,’
’Never in my life would I have thought I would be abducted by a monkey.’
Before its first swing, the Monkey leader looked at Morden as if telling him to hold on tight. Immediately after, he felt the muscles tightening, meaning it was blasting off.
’Ohh shit, here we go.’
with a large burst of strength, the leader jumped off the ground, grabbed onto a branch, and immediately swung from it. Just like that, they two began on a journey that even Skillful and elegant swinging. A few swings in, Morden had realized that it wasn’t as bumpy as he had imagined.
Due to the leader’s massive size, every swing was able to get them a really large distance, and soon they had arrived in the Monkey settlement.
"Woow,"
That was all Morden could say as he curiously looked around him; his eyes just kept darting from one place to another. From an observer’s standpoint it almost appeared as if he were the monkey brought into a human city.
At first sight, it was obvious that the beast had a really impressive social structure; he could see some larger, more muscular Golden-furred monkeys patrolling the area.
"Those must be Uncommon-grade ones."
And lastly, the real citizens were Common-grade Monkeys.
The Monkey leader picked him off his shoulder while it continued working, obviously because he wanted Morden to follow it.
"I wonder what is going on," he muttered.
He followed the Mountain leader towards a back area, but he didn’t do it without any form of resistance. The deeper they moved, the thicker the stench of rotting meat Morden perceived.
Soon they finally arrived at their destination, and Morden finally realized the reason for that smell.
It was a pile of Golden-furred monkey corpses; some of them were old, while some were new, but in all, one thing was uniform about every single corpse that was there.
They didn’t die of natural causes.
Some were killed by the same kind of arrows he had seen earlier, while the others were killed by throwing spells, which told Morden one thing.
"The monkeys on the other side were responsible,"
"oh my God, did I just find the perfect opportunity."
