"What?" Morden said with a confused face.

His confusion wasn’t only caused by just a single thing; it was due to two things at the same time. Firstly, he didn’t have a single idea what the Watchmen were, and secondly, he didn’t understand the reason for the invitation.

"Why?" he asked again when he noticed Mona was not responding to his first question.

"Do you really need me to explain that right now, are you in or not?"

"Or wait, what did I just say? you have no choice to make in this; you must," she said in an authoritative tone.

"Why?" for the third time.

At this point, it was taking everything Mona had for her not to conjure a shadow to pierce Morden in the head at that exact moment.

"Are you sure you really want me to get irritated just after you narrowly escaped death?" Mona asked.

"I am sorry, but I try my best to not make decisions until I have a full scope of things or at least think I have a full scope of things."

Those words actually made sense from all that Morden had been doing; before making any major decisions during his trial, Morden had first done some investigative work in the Mountain Lord’s house, and he had also milked Layla as best he could.

"Hmph,"

"The skills I just appreciated now seem to be really getting on my nerves at this point."

"But I guess it can’t be helped,"

"If you had actually responded immediately without actually thinking things through, then that would have been a problem."

While she spoke, Mona turned around and moved from her position of standing directly above Morden to where her Shadow seat was and sat down again.

"Before I begin any form of explanation, it is important to get one thing very much straight."

"You aren’t being invited as a member but as a Prisoner or to make it nice, a slave."

"You won’t be given a fancy badge to show your acceptance, nor will you have pay waiting for you; you will only do what you are told and be in reach in case anything goes wrong."

"which means you are being invited as free labor that we can do anything to, anytime we want."

"That’s better than dying, right?"

Morden listened to all she said without showing too much of a change in expression; the only change he had was when he heard that he would be working as free labor.

’How do I feed them? I have spent all of my money’

But other things didn’t shock him in any way; he hadn’t expected them to treat him ceremoniously, what Mona described was just what he had expected.

’All that is even all good, but what exactly are the Watchmen?’

Seeing Morden currently lost in his own mind, Mona couldn’t help but smile from the sight.

’He is probably regretting his decision to leave this instance."

As a straightforward woman, Mona didn’t focus on those distracting thoughts and soon wiped them off of her mind before clearing her throat to speak again.

"You want to know what the Watchmen is, right?"

"Yes, I do."

"Alright then, the watchmen are a Branch of the Police or it can even be considered an organization on its own that focuses mainly on problems of the Bearer World, which means we have no direct contract with ordinary people," Mona explained.

"So Watchmen are like the Police of Bearers; that is, you handle criminal activities that involve Bearers?" Morden said.

"Don’t sully us again like that ever again," Mona suddenly berated.

"You are really testing my patience now, kid."

"Do you think that in the whole of the Police force, there aren’t Bearers that can handle cases like that?"

Feeling the temperature in the room slowly growing hotter, Morden realized that Mona was already getting annoyed, so he immediately calmed down.

"What do watchmen do then?" he said in a low voice.

"Watchmen, unlike Policemen don’t handle ordinary criminal cases, even those that even Bearers do."

"We watchmen handle cases that can’t be solved by ordinary means; to put it in better perspective, we use the darkness and shadows to handle the dark side of the Bearer world."

"Just so you know. The dark side is the larger side."

Morden sat there on his chair that was conjured for him as he slowly began processing all that Mona had just explained to him.

"Fight the dark side of the Bearer world, uhh? How does that actually help me?’

Since he had gotten all the information he needed at that moment, it was now Morden’s turn to use that information to actually do something that will end up being helpful.

’Hmmm, I think it is actually the best decision for me.’

’Since the lead with the red ghost is already off,’ Morden said while looking at the dead man that was currently on his left.

’Then the wisest decision right now is to join them and try to gain access to the information they have on my family murder case.’

’I doubt a whole organization won’t have far more information than I do.’

"Alright then, I agree to join, but that will only be on one condition," Morden said with a stern voice.

"I told you it wasn’t a choice right, you either join or you just die," Mona answered.

"I know, but this is something important that needs to be talked about as soon as possible."

"What is it?" a frown slowly taking shape.

"I will join if I can get access to all information the Watchmen have on my family case."

Hearing Morden’s request, the slight frown on Mona’s face vanished and was now replaced by a smile.

"Is that all?"

"Yes,"

"Then, welcome to the Watchmen, slave," Mona said.

"I hope you know you are a slave under me right, which means I can do anything I like with you, so don’t make me do something drastic."

In response to that, Morden nodded profusely.

"Alright then, let’s head over there right now to get you registered."

"What? Now?"
