Chapter 443: Time-field Acceleration Core
The name of the device that Michael had found in the system store was called the Time-field Acceleration Core. And, it was what Michael was looking for, as it exactly matched his current needs.
The Time-field Acceleration Core was a portable device built to create a controlled time field around a selected area.
Once activated, it created a stable field that could make time inside move up to 30× faster than outside. Thus, 1 hour outside would equal 30 hours inside. The field could cover an area of up to 2,500 m², and its range could be changed through the control panel.
The device did not have a fixed operating time. It could remain active as long as its energy supply lasted. A vacuum-energy reactor supplied the main power, while internal energy cells stored extra power for periods of high demand. The system also monitored the field and reduced its output if the energy level became too low.
As for the price, it was exactly 1,200 SP, which was equivalent to 120 million dollars, if converted.
Even though the price was quite steep, Michael was not that surprised. In fact, he felt that it was a little cheaper than he had anticipated.
Afternoon, this was something that was capable of affecting time within a certain area. While it was not as versatile as the time manipulation ability that he had, it was very useful.
Additionally, it did not have some of the limitations that the time manipulation ability had. After all, while the time manipulation ability could allow Michael to be able to stop time, reverse the time, accelerate the time and so on, it had a time limit.
But this device, once installed, all that it needed was energy supply. And the good thing was that, it came with its own source of energy, which was self-sustaining.
The reason why Michael felt that this device was cheap was simply because the price of the evolution serum that he had taken quite some time back was priced at 7,500 SP.
That was equivalent to 750 million dollars. Michael was not sure about the logic applied here, when pricing the two items, but regardless, he did not continue wasting time.
Instead, he just went ahead and completed the purchase. Immediately after, there was a flash of light, before on the floor in front of the couch that he was lying on, something appeared.
Michael gazed over, realizing that it was a black device about the size of a small suitcase. Its smooth metal body had a thick glass panel in the center, where a faint blue light came from the energy core inside.
A small touch screen was located near the top, showing the time rate, field size, and remaining energy.
There were two handles on each side, obviously, they could be used to carry the Time-field Acceleration Core around.
Michael picked it up, realizing that it was not heavy. By estimation, it should be about 500 grams in terms of weight. That was something that surprised him, because looking at it, it seemed to be heavy.
Probably, the material that was used to create it was special, making it that despite being hard, which he could feel, it was almost weightless.
After observing it for a moment, Michael realized that there was another button at the very top of the device. Looking at it, it was labeled with a briefcase that was opened, and another that was closed.
Even though he could kind of guess what this button could do, he still went ahead and pressed it. The moment that he did so, the device in his hand suddenly began transforming.
Its outer shell split into thin sections that folded inward and changed shape, while the internal parts moved into a new layout. The blue energy core and control screen disappeared beneath the surface as the metal casing reshaped itself.
When the process ended, the device had taken the form of an ordinary briefcase, with no visible signs of its true function.
This transformation reminded Michael about the wrist watch that he was currently wearing. Onyx was installed inside, and the wrist watch was capable of the transformation.
In fact, the form of the wrist watch was just a disguise. The original shape was that of an advanced nanotech laptop. Therefore, it could easily transform into a laptop, if Michael wanted it to.
With the transformation of the Time-field Acceleration Core completed, Michael was quite eager to test it out. Therefore, he immediately carried it out of the room, only to bump into Kate.
It seemed that she was coming from downstairs, and had just been passing by his door.
"You're going somewhere?" Kate asked as she looked at the briefcase that Michael was carrying.
At the same time, she was kind of curious about what Michael wanted to do. After all, ever since she came back from the training camp, she had spent quite some time with him.
That was especially back in Brenton city. But one thing that she noticed was the fact that, Michael seemed to be idle almost all the time. This left her surprised and curious at the same time.
Still, despite how curious she was, she did not ask Michael about it. Now, seeing him carrying a briefcase, it almost looked as though he was going to the office. It was just that, Michael was currently dressed in a casual outfit.
Michael wore a plain black T-shirt with dark-gray jogger pants. His dark brown hair was slightly tousled, and a pair of black slip-on shoes covered his feet.
The way that he looked, nobody would expect him to go to the office that way. And if he had the intention to change, were his clothes not in the room that he had just left?
"It is a surprise that I told you about. Once you are done with what you're doing here, come to the villa. You will be able to find what I have arranged for you." Michael responded with a slight smile.
Then, without giving Kate a chance to ask more questions, he immediately left, leaving her extremely curious. She wanted to follow him, to ask more about the surprise, but in the end, she decided against it.
She thought, since it was a surprise, then, she would have to wait. Therefore, she decided to go ahead and continue with the preparations that she was making. Once she was done, she would immediately head over.
Michael obviously did not know what Kate was thinking about. He just left the mansion, under the curious gazes of some of the maids and Andrew.
Since the villa was not far from the mansion, Michael obviously went there on foot. A few minutes later, he arrived at the villa.
Ever since he knew about Michael's acquisition of the villa, Andrew had made arrangements for security of the villa. Therefore, at the entrance of the villa, Michael nodded at the two security guards, before he went in.
Entering the villa, one would immediately realize that something was unusual about the villa. From the outside, it looked as if it had several windows, several floors, and possibly several rooms as well.
But once inside, the entire villa seemed like an open space. The entire place was white in color, with nothing around. Of course, this was due to the modification that had been done by the installation of the training chamber.
Michael looked at the core of the training chamber that was located at the very center of the villa. He approached it, before he placed down the briefcase that he was carrying.
Immediately after, he pressed the button to transform the briefcase. After the transformation of the device into a briefcase, the button that could enable the transformation was also located in another position.
Instead of being on the side of the briefcase, it was below the handle. Just where the fingers wrapped around the handle of the briefcase, Michael could feel it.
The moment that he pressed it, the transformation once again occurred. For an ordinary person out there, who had not been exposed to such level of technology, they might think that they were watching a live science fiction movie.
The transformation was quick, completed within just 2 seconds. And, once again, the device that Michael had bought was now in front of him.
Looking at the display screen, Michael stretched his hand
and touched it. The display lit up at once. A low sound came from inside the device as the blue light beneath the glass slowly grew brighter.
Thin lines of light spread across the central panel, and the Core began drawing power from its internal energy cells.
A few seconds later, the hum settled into a steady vibration. The screen displayed the time rate and field size, and on the same screen, there was the option for Michael to select and set everything to his preference.
Michael wanted to test the full capability of this device. Therefore, he immediately said the time right at 30x, and the field size, it was exactly the size of the villa.
He could exactly select the size of the villa because it was an option provided during the time that he wanted to set the range.
Immediately after he pressed the confirm button, there was a flash of light. Michael could not even react, before the light disappeared.
Looking around, everything looked normal. It was as if nothing had changed at all. But, with his time manipulation ability, Michael realized that the time flow within the villa had been accelerated by 30 times.
"Training chamber, activate." Michael called out in a low voice. And the moment that his voice fell, his surroundings suddenly began transforming.
