Chapter 437: Did You Succeed?
"What? You mean to tell me that something like that happened? How come I don’t know anything about it?" Alex asked, both shocked and furious.
It had been 5 days since he had left, after being urgently required to deal with something.
When he went over, he realized that things were much more complicated than he had expected. First of all, the mutants that he was supposed to deal with, they were stronger than reported.
Secondly, there were more mutants than the information that he had received claimed.
And another thing that made him much more frustrated was the fact that those mutants were prepared. It seemed that they had already been anticipating his arrival, as they had already prepared the signal jammers.
Even the special communication devices provided by NEXUS could not work in such an environment. Therefore, he could not release the information of the situation back to the organization.
Additionally, he was left worried, because he could not go back to help Kate and Lina. Initially, he thought that he would be done with everything within just a few hours, before going back.
But because of the unexpected situation, it would be impossible for him to return on the same day. Hence, he could only hope that Kate and Lina would not take action, and wait for him. After all, they had just gotten their abilities less than a month ago.
Dealing with those mutants was not that easy. Even though he had prepared himself somehow, it was not enough. Therefore, when he was done dealing with them, he ended up unconscious.
But because he had been gone for over 2 days, several people came looking for him. When they found him unconscious, they took him back to the organization, where he received treatment.
Lucky for him, he had not suffered too serious injuries. Otherwise, waiting for an entire day while unconscious, he could have easily died.
After he regained his consciousness, he immediately inquired about the situation. And after he was told that he had been out for 2 days, he panicked.
He was only relieved when he was informed that Kate and Lina were both okay. Additionally, they had dealt with 4 mutants, with one of them being killed. The other 3 had all been arrested, and had been taking into custody within the organization.
Despite having many questions about his own situation, he was much more concerned about the condition of the two ladies. He was the one who had suggested that they should take on the task, therefore, he felt responsible.
Without asking about anything else, he just contacted the two ladies, and immediately left to look for them. It was just that, after arriving in the capital city, he could not reach them for the night, instead, he had to wait until this morning to meet them.
During the night, he was extremely worried. First of all, he was worried that the two ladies might have gotten hurt. Second, he was worried about the impression of the two ladies of him.
If they ended up thinking of leaving the team, things would get out of hand for him. After all, he had only created the team not long ago. If the only members of the team decided to leave, then obviously, that team would have to be disbanded.
But after the two ladies finally explained to him what had happened, he was furious. It was not just about the fact that they had to deal with four mutants, despite the information claiming that there was one.
Instead, he realized that what had happened to him, definitely had something to do with the situation that the two ladies had faced.
Without thinking, he immediately made a call. He contacted someone within the intelligence branch, someone that he trusted.
After talking for a while, Alex’s expression shifted completely, as he was not sure about how to react.
The person that he had just called, he was not present 5 days ago, when Alex and little ladies faced danger. It was because of this that the information that Alex and two ladies received had problems.
By now, the person that was involved in this had already been dealt with. Therefore, Alex did not have to worry about him.
Instead, he was puzzled. There was something that he could not understand at all. The two ladies being targeted, it was understandable. But for him to be targeted as well, what could have happened?
"Did something happen?" Kate asked with raised brows.
"Ha! Morrison is dead." Alex shook his head as he sighed, before he responded.
""Huh?!"" This information immediately left the two ladies dumbfounded. Clearly, they had not anticipated something like this to happen.
They could recognize Morrison, as Alex had already previously given them the information about him. He was Evan’s brother, who had spent all of his merits within the organization, to allow Evan back into the training camp.
Unfortunately, those merits ended up being wasted, because during the mutation serum injection, Evan could not hold on, and he ended up dying.
Basically, it could be said that Morrison could be blamed for indirectly causing his brother’s death. He had aimed to help, only to cause Evan’s death.
Still, according to Lina, from the information that she had managed to get on Morrison, they had to be prepared. They had to prepare themselves for a situation where Morrison might target them.
According to the information about him, he seemed to be the vengeful kind of person. Additionally, he was petty, and he liked to blame every bad thing that happened to him on someone else, even if there was a very low probability of that person being involved.
Kate was not worried about him targeting her. With her current abilities, she really wanted to face challenges, so that she could grow. Therefore, if he targeted her, she would be more than happy to deal with what he sent her way.
Unexpectedly, even before he made a move, he had actually died? That was something that she had never expected.
"What happened? Could it be that he was dealing with some mutants, and he ended up dying?" Kate asked curiously.
"He was dispatched here in the capital. But, he simply vanished within his room. For over 4 days now, investigation has been carried out, trying to find who might have been involved with his death.
But until now, there have been no results. Additionally, not even his body could be found, though, everything that he possessed when he was staying at the hotel, has been retrieved." Alex explained, even though he himself was confused.
At this point, he began getting worried. Even though he was stronger than Morrison, it was not by a huge margin. Additionally, this sudden disappearance, if it was linked to some mutants who were against the organization, then things could get messy.
Morrison was targeted this time. Who could tell who would be targeted next? Would he be the one? Or would the two ladies be the ones to disappear next?
As for the probability of Morrison having escaped, instead of dying, because they could not find his body, it was absolutely zero. That was because, every official member of the organization was injected with a device into their bodies.
The device itself was very small, but it could easily enter into the bloodstream. It was used to detect if a person was alive or dead. The moment that the heart stopped beating, and the blood stopped flowing, it would immediately alert the headquarters of NEXUS.
It was because of this that they had realized that he was dead. Otherwise, this could have just been a situation where Morrison had escaped after realizing that his plans had been exposed.
While Alex was still thinking about that, Kate suddenly realized something. She remembered the time that she contacted Michael, when they were dealing with the 4 mutants.
Then, she remembered the conversation that she had with Lina. At that time, she asked Lina if they should investigate about the person who might be involved with them being targeted.
Unexpectedly, Lina told her that there was no need for that. That was because the person had already been dealt with.
So, could it be possible that Morrison was the person who had targeted her? As she thought about this, she realized, there was a high possibility of that.
Still, despite having this realization, she did not say anything about it to Alex. Since it was Michael who had taken action, she realized that he was doing this for her.
She wanted to smile, but she managed to contain herself, deciding that she would have to spend some more time with Michael later on. Maybe, she should think about how she should thank him.
At this moment, Alex suddenly spoke, "Okay, it seems that you two ladies should be prepared. We will be going back to the headquarters of the organization, so that you can go through the process of officially joining the organization.
There are a lot of undercurrents that are about to sweep through this world. Therefore, it would be better if we are all prepared, ready to face them."

At the same time, within the same conference room, the group of 10 had gathered once again.
Just like previously, they had varying expressions on their faces, but there was one thing that was common for 9 of them, they all looked expectant.
Additionally, the were all gazing at Isabella, a lady with a slightly plump figure, blonde hair, with her purple eyes behind glasses.
"So, did you succeed?" Finally, Jamie could not help but break the silence in the conference room, the question directed at Isabella.
