Chapter 432: Regret, Broken
Before joining NEXUS, before becoming a mutant, and even years after he became a mutant, Morrison had faced different kinds of situations.
Quite a number of times he had been injured, and the pain that he experienced could not be ignored.
Because of this, his pain tolerance had increased to a high level. But, that was in a situation where the injuries that he suffered did not target him specially at the points where his nerves ended.
The fingernails, for them to be pulled out one after the other, the pain that a person would suffer was imaginable. It was for this reason that Morrison wanted to scream from the pain.
But more than that, he was confused. He could not understand how he was targeted by Michael, and what kind of misunderstanding existed between them.
He believed that the method that he had used to target Kate, it would not be that easy for anyone to find out.
It was a roundabout way that he had used, making it difficult for someone to relate any incident happening to Kate, to him.
Therefore, not even for a moment did Morrison think that Michael was targeting him because of what he had done.
He wanted to ask Michael what was going on, but he could not open his mouth no matter how much he tried. There was an invisible force that was preventing him from moving his jaw in the slightest.
In the end, he could only make muffled sounds, which seemed to be a mixture of words and screams.
Michael did not bother to explain anything. He just went ahead with what he was doing, venting his anger.
His actions were quite cruel from another person’s perspective. But what about Morrison? If his plan had succeeded, and Kate ended up dying, what would that be considered to be?
As he continuously thought about this, Michael went ahead and pulled out all of Morrison’s fingernails.
Blood was already trickling down from the fingers, and onto the floor. Michael did not bother to use the telekinesis ability to prevent the blood from pooling below Morrison.
After he was done with this, he was left thinking for quite a while, wondering what next to do. He was not yet satisfied with the pain that this guy had suffered.
Unlike Morrison, who would target the people that his enemies cared about, Michael would not do the same. That was of course unless those people came looking for trouble.
If they came looking for him to take revenge on him, for killing his enemy, he would not mind reuniting them in the underworld.
After contemplating for a while, Michael came up with another solution.
Immediately, he clenched his fist, before he smashed it towards Morrison’s face.
Bam!
Morrison could not even move his head. Therefore, he could only despair as he looked at the fist that was approaching his face.
The pain from his fingernails was already overwhelming. And, he was finding it difficult to hold on, as he attempted to struggle as much as possible, trying to break free.
His efforts were in vain, as the punch landed on his face, squarely on the nose. The nose bridge was broken, making tears suddenly well up inside Morrison’s eyes.
Blood began trickling from the nostrils, and the skin of the nose bridge also broke, with blood also trickling out.
Michael was not done. He looked around the room, finding a toothpick. Then, using the telekinesis ability, he pulled it over.
Morrison was horrified when he saw this. He could not tell what exactly Michael was planning to do, but from what had happened so far, it was definitely not good.
He continued trying to use his full strength, to try and break free. But as he continuously struggled, he became immensely horrified.
It was at this point that he suddenly realized that he was wrong. The information that he had received, it was wrong.
If he had known that Michael was a mutant, and more than that, a very strong one, he would have made more preparations before taking action.
Additionally, considering that Michael was a mutant, and he was targeting him, just a few minutes after he was informed that the task had failed, he understood. Michael was here because of him targeting Kate.
As for how he had managed to find out about this, Morrison realized. The information that he had received about Michael, it was that he had an unclear background.
Back then, he didn’t think much about it. He just thought, maybe Michael was kind of lucky, and received some inheritance from someone. It was just that it was unclear for the time being who was the source of the inheritance.
But now, finding himself in the situation, he realized, things were much more complicated than he had anticipated. Even the connections that he had within the intelligence branch of NEXUS, was not enough to be able to uncover Michael’s background.
The more he thought about this, the more horrified he became. At the same time, he wondered, could it be that it was not Kate who had taken action against his brother?
Maybe, it was Michael, using his connections, he targeted Evan, leading to his death?
That was a possibility. During the mutation serum injection, anything could go wrong. Many things affected the survival rate of a person, including the mentality of the person undergoing the injection.
He had previously made a judgment that, it was because Kate had defeated Evan, while Lina had thrashed him, that Evan was unstable mentally. Because of this, Evan could not survive the mutation serum injection.
All these thoughts appeared in his mind in a very short time. He had practically lost himself deep in thought that he did not even realize when Michael suddenly opened his mouth.
Of course, all this while, Michael had not touched Morrison. Instead, he had been using the telekinesis ability all along. It was the same case when it came to opening Morrison’s mouth.
Michael could see that this guy seemed to be lost in thought, but he did not care. Instead, using the telekinesis ability, he controlled the toothpick, sending it flying towards Morrison’s mouth.
With the mouth wide open, the tongue was completely exposed. Using that toothpick, Michael began stabbing the tip of the tongue. He did not use much strength, instead, he just poked enough to cause some light injuries at the tip of the tongue.
It was the same situation with the punch he had thrown not long ago. If he had used his full strength, this guy would have already died by now.
Michael was not using the toothpick fast. Instead, he used it to poke the tongue about every two seconds.
This ensured that the pain would always be there, and for an extended duration.
The moment that Michael began another round of torture, Morrison was brought back to his senses by the pain.
He tried to scream, now that his mouth was wide open. But he realized, his throat was blocked by the invisible forest. This made it impossible for any sound to come out.
The pain of having his tongue continuously poked nearly drove him crazy. And at this point, he wanted to ask Michael to just finish him off.
Since he already understood the conflict between them, he realized what was going to happen. Definitely, Michael was not going to let him go.
Obviously, he would kill him eventually. As for the thought of using NEXUS as a shield, he did not think about it even for a moment.
Michael already knew about him. Definitely, he knew about the fact that he was from NEXUS. But even then, here he was, subjecting him to this kind of torture.
Additionally come with his unknown background, there was a possibility that he had great connections. More than that, if Michael exposed what he had done, NEXUS would not care about his death.
In fact, if he did not die by the hands of Michael, he would still be killed by Richard, the current leader of NEXUS. Breaking the rules of the organization, and getting caught, the consequences were not something that he could handle.
Michael continued with this torture for a little while more, and only stopped when Morrison’s mouth was completely bloody. His teeth were stained red with blood, looking quite disgusting.
Michael was not interested in looking at this. Therefore, he used the telekinesis ability once again, to close Morrison’s mouth.
With this segment out of the way, Michael went ahead and continuously subjected Morrison to different types of torture. Anything that he could think of, as long as it could make the guy experience pain, Michael would do it.
The pain that Morrison experienced eventually overwhelmed the anger and thirst for revenge that he had. Thereby, it reached a point where, no matter what Michael did, the guy did not react.
Obviously, he had been completely broken by the pain. He could not handle it anymore, despite having a strong mentality.
Looking at the bloody scene, Michael could no longer continue his actions. At least, since the guy was not reacting, there was no need for him to continue.
As he thought about that, he did not hesitate to use the telekinesis ability to strangle him. Finally, when the guy was beginning to suffocate, he showed some reactions.
Through the telekinesis ability that was holding him in place, Michael could feel that Morrison was trying to break free. But no matter how much he tried, he could not.
Eventually, the guy was strangled to death. Immediately after, Michael released the body, allowing it to collapse onto the ground.
Having already completed what had brought him here, Michael decided to leave. But he made sure to contact Vincent, to come over and clean up the scene.
Michael have just reached the elevator when suddenly, he received a piece of information from Onyx through the earpiece that made him frown.
