Chapter 433: Governor of PNRB
According to Onyx, there was someone that was looking for him. The thing that surprised Michael was the identity of this person.
He was none other than Stewart, the governor of the world biggest bank, the People’s National Reserve Bank, PNRB.
Michael was not sure about the reason why this person was looking for him, especially considering that Michael was not banking with his bank.
As he thought about it, he realized, maybe there was a possibility that Stewart came to invite him? At the moment, Michael was not sure about how much money he had in his account.
In any case, he believed that it was already over $1 billion. Such a huge amount of money, not many private accounts could hold so much liquid fund.
Of course, that did not imply that other accounts did not have such a large amount of money. It was just that most of those accounts were corporate accounts, belonging to some of the major businesses and companies.
Michael himself had already stopped paying attention to this account. Almost everything that needed to be handled about this account, it always went through Adrian.
Because the same situation as the first time when he had over 300 million dollars in this account. Back then, he was invited by Rose Harvey, the private accounts manager from Apex bank, to go through the upgrade of the VIP status and so on.
But back again, Michael had no intention of wasting time on something like that. Instead, he was focused on earning SP. Therefore, he let Adrian handle the issue.
Since then, everything about this account had always been handled by Adrian. And Michael was not really sure about his current status within Apex bank.
Comparing Apex bank to PNRB, it was almost the same as comparing a nation’s biggest bank against the central bank of that country.
Even though Apex Bank was big, it was obviously smaller when compared to PNRB. But even then, it was quite big nonetheless, considered as one of the biggest banks in the world.
As he fell into thought about this, Michael tried to understand if there could be any other reason why Stewart was looking for him.
He believed, even if it was about inviting him to start banking with them, they could send someone else. After all, the influence that Stewart held was huge. He was a popular figure not only in the finance sector, but all the other industries as well.
As long as there was any relation of other industries with the finance sector, Stewart was well known figure. For him to personally come looking for him, Michael believed that he was much more complicated than just trying to poach him.
"Look into it. Try to identify if there is anything that I should pay attention to about this person. Try and find out as much information about him as possible, and see if there is any relationship between him and others that I might have to know about." Michael instructed Onyx.
When he reached ground floor, he went ahead and checked out. He said that he was not sure if he would come back, as something came up, and he would need to handle it.
The surprised receptionist could only help Michael to complete the checkout process. There was no refund, as per the policy of the hotel.
Michael of course did not care about such a small amount of money. Hence, he got out of the hotel, got to the parking lot, got into the car, before driving back to the mansion.
As soon as he got out of the car, he found that Andrew was already waiting for him.
"Sir, you have a guest waiting for you. He is Stewart, the governor of PNRB. He hasn’t told me what he is here for, claiming that he will wait for you to arrive. He did not allow me to contact you either." Andrew stated as he followed behind Michael.
"No problem. If there is something that you need to handle, you can just go ahead with it. There is no need to follow me." Michael nodded as he said.
"Okay, sir." Andrew responded before he turned around, heading towards the back of the mansion.
Michael got into the living room, finding Stewart. He was a man with a slim build. His short dark brown hair was neatly combed back with a clean side part. He had gray eyes, a straight nose, and a clean-shaven face with clear features.
He was dressed in a well-fitted charcoal suit over a plain white dress shirt, paired with a dark blue tie. He had polished black leather shoes on, while a silver wristwatch rested on his left wrist.
This was the first time that Michael was meeting someone of such a high stature. The air around him, it was extremely different as compared to that of Matthew, the old man from the Santos family.
Even as he sat there, one could feel some subtle pressure coming from him. If an ordinary person were to face him, they would definitely feel pressured.
Immediately after he entered, Stewart looked over. He raised his brows slightly, as if he was kind of surprised about Michael’s appearance.
But even then, he stood up, completely unlike what was expected of someone of his position. He enthusiastically smiled as he spoke first, "Mr. Santos, I never expected that you were this young in person. It is so nice to finally meet you in person, after hearing so much about you."
With the way that Stewart was acting, Michael of course had to be polite as well. Therefore, he smiled, and the two men shook hands.
At the same time, Michael responded, "Governor Stewart, you are exaggerating a little. I don’t believe that there is much to say about me out there."
"There is no need for you to be so humble. Haha!" Stewart responded as he laughed.
From the way that he was acting, it seemed that he was an easygoing person. This was completely contradictory to the image that people had about him from watching him on TV.
"Please, have a seat." Michael finally said. Then, he himself went ahead and sat on a couch that was directly opposite from Stewart.
At the same time, he looked at the maid that was in the living room, waiting, and nodded at her.
"Sir, what would you like to have?" The maid approached Stewart, before she asked politely.
She had already asked before, but Stewart insisted on waiting for Michael first. It had already been over an hour since he arrived, but he had just been staying here silently, waiting.
Many of the staff in the mansion knew about him. After all, he was a popular figure that could be seen on TV from time to time.
It was just that none of them had expected that Stewart would come here, to look for Michael. And more than that, he was polite.
This left them wondering just what was Michael’s identity. They knew that he definitely had a big background, but they did not know how big it was.
But now, looking at the attitude displayed by Stewart, they realized excitedly that they might be working for a very big figure. Therefore, the way that they looked at Michael right now, it was way different as compared to before.
"I just help me with apple juice." Stewart responded, polite even when talking to the maid.
The two then began chatting with each other, trying to get to know each other a little better. Of course, they did not talk in details, just some casual introductions.
Even though Michael already knew about Stewart’s identity, Stewart still went ahead and introduced himself.
Despite already possessing the information on him, Michael still acted as if he was surprised when he heard that Stewart was just 49 years old. To be the governor of the biggest bank in the world at such an age, it was a great achievement.
For Michael, he introduced himself just as an ordinary person, who was a little lucky. As for what he was lucky with, he did not say.
Eventually, after the drinks were served, and the maid left, the two finally began taking things seriously.
"So, Mr. Stewart, why did you come looking for me? I don’t think that we have had any business transactions between us before today. Or maybe, could it be that you came here today to poach me from Apex bank?" Michael asked with a slight smile.
"Hahaha! You are kind of funny. And I like that. Anyway, today, I came here for something much more serious. Maybe, should we find somewhere so that we can talk in private?" Stewart laughed before he responded.
Michael immediately realized that what had brought Stewart here was as he had expected. It was definitely something more than just banking.
As for what exactly it was, for the time being, he could not tell. Even the information that Onyx had gotten on him, it did not give Michael an angle to speculate from.
"Okay, please, come with me." Michael gazed deeply at Stewart, before he finally stood up as he spoke.
Stewart revealed a smile, as he followed Michael upstairs. The two of them went to the second floor, before Michael led Stewart into the study.
At the moment, Kate was out. And basically, this entire floor was reserved just for him and Kate, or any other person that they allowed here.
Only the maids in charge of cleaning, and Andrew, who came over from time to time, only if there was a need to, were the ones who could be found on this floor, but rarely, or at specific times.
For a private conversation, they could have it here, without having any worries about someone listening in on their conversation.
After they settled in the study, finally, Stewart spoke.
"Mr. Santos, I’m quite curious about your identity. What is your background?" Stewart asked as he looked directly into Michael’s eyes.
