Chapter 434: Revelation
Michael’s expression did not shift in the slightest, despite the question asked by Stewart. Even the gaze that was on him, he did not evade it.
To Michael, he felt no pressure when facing Stewart. Therefore, this attempt by Stewart, it was bound to end in a failure.
"I’m sorry, but I don’t understand why you are asking about my background. And, I believe that with the connections that you have, you should already know about my identity, and about my past." Michael shook his head as he responded.
Stewart was internally surprised when he realized that Michael was not the slightest bit pressured. He did not look flustered at all, despite the pressure that he was putting on him.
This kind of reaction, it was not something that was expected to be seen on an 18-year-old young man. This made Stewart’s impression of Michael to completely shift.
Before he was sent here, he had thought about many things that could happen during the interaction between them. But of course, he always kept in mind the instruction that he had been given, to be polite with Michael.
At the moment, they did not know if Michael was an enemy, or was the potential ally. Therefore, before knowing this, it was better to handle things carefully.
"You are right. Before I came here, I was impolite and investigated you. It is just that, the information that I found, it is kind of inconsistent. At least, it leaves me wondering who you really are.
The shift that you had a few months ago, that kind of transformation, it is beyond ordinary. And believe me, I’m not the only one who noticed this. Today, I came, but tomorrow, it could be someone else.
But I can assure you, I have no any intention of making an enemy out of you. Therefore, you can consider my question to have been asked out of curiosity, and cautiousness." Stewart gave a lengthy response.
Everything about Michael, they had already investigated. It was just that there were some things that they could not find about him.
Just from the fact that some of Michael’s information could not be found by even Christopher, it was alarming. After all, the private force, the Intelligence Coordination Agency under Christopher was the best at getting information.
But even they themselves had failed. In fact they could not even upload Michael’s information to their servers. Every time that they attempted to do that, the information would be corrupted or completely erased.
Another thing, the way that Michael was acting, so calm when facing him, it spoke more. It was as if this young man in front of him had completely transformed in the past few months.
At least, according to the information that they had gotten about him, from his young days, he was not like this. At least, he had not experienced something that would make him have such confidence, until a few months ago.

Hearing Stewart’s response, Michael smiled slightly. Then he said, "That is honest of you, Mr. Stewart. You know, not many people would admit that they did a background check on someone, so openly."
"I’m trying to be sincere with you. I’m not trying to hide anything, as it will not help in the situation that we are in." Stewart shrugged.
"That’s true. Anyway, I really have nothing to say about the question that you asked. The information that you found on me, that is all there is about me." Michael eventually shook his head as he finished speaking.
Stewart immediately understood that it was impossible for Michael to reveal what had really happened. Even though they had their own suspicions, they could not confirm them. It was for this reason that Stewart was trying to probe Michael.
He had thought that he might get a clue, but he realized that he could not. And since that was the case, he decided not to push anymore on the topic.
Instead, he changed the topic, "Okay, let’s talk about something else. You should already know about the changes that are about to happen, right?"
Michael raised his brows at that. He had been getting the information about the suspected changes, and even Matthew had conveyed the information to him through Henry.
But even then, Michael had yet to get the concrete information about this event. At least, the information that he had gotten was mostly rumors.
This was something that made him a little puzzled. After all, he could not find that information, despite Onyx being the highest level AI in this world.
With Stewart mentioning it, Michael thought, maybe there was a possibility that he could find the information about this matter from him.
Therefore, he responded, "I have heard about it. It is just that I am not really sure about the details of the event, and the circumstances surrounding it. Maybe, could you elaborate on it a little?"
Stewart gazed deeply at Michael upon hearing that. For a moment, he thought that Michael was lying to him. But so far in their conversation, he had gotten an understanding of Michael.
At least, from what he understood, Michael did not seem to be the person that would lie. There was a possibility that he could lie, but it seemed that his personality was a straightforward one.
This was the judgment that he had made based on the previous question that he had asked. Michael could have lied, but since he did not want the information to be revealed, he refused to answer.
"Haa! Okay, I will give you a little bit of information that I know about." Stewart let out a deep breath before he spoke.
He took yet another deep breath, before he continued, "I believe that you already know about the mutants. The issue about mutation serums is not something that is just being researched on one country. Instead, several nations and forces are researching on it.
For a while now, several forces have been combining, restricting the mutants. Therefore, the general public did not know about the existence of mutants until now.
One of the reasons why the information about the mutants and the mutation serum was not revealed was quite simple. It is basically because the research is not yet completed.
Several meteors landed in this world. The most recent one being over 10 years ago, to be exact, 10 years and 7 months ago. But before that, most of the information about the other meteors was never recorded, because most of them fell in areas that did not have people.
This started exactly 16 years, 3 months and 2 days ago. For 6 years, I total of nine meteors fell. The duration between each meteor was inconsistent, some fell within the same year, and there was a gap of almost 2 years before another meteor fell.
The falling of the meteors, especially considering that none of them was captured by the satellites before they suddenly fell, it raised a lot of questions. We are not sure if the meteors falling was done deliberately, or if it was just a coincidence.
Therefore, after it was found out that the contents of the meteors could lead to mutation, the research has been carried out. Right now, the aim of most of the forces in the world is to get stronger.
That way, in case this was something that was deliberately done, or it is a preliminary to something, as long as we are strong enough, we might be able to handle what might come in the future, or even maybe tomorrow, or now.
With a total of 10 meteors, falling in different parts of the world, it is expected that the number of forces researching on the mutation serum could reach 10.
With the alliance of several forces, it was manageable to control the actions of the mutants. The spread of the mutation serums was also limited, making sure that chaos would not erupt in the world.
After all, if mutants appear all over the world, it is to be expected that order could no longer be maintained as it is now.
But as you can expect, not all the forces agree with this. Some forces have always been against the limitation placed on the mutants. They believe that mutants should be free to act.
They do not tolerate being ruled by ordinary humans, while they themselves were that strong. They wanted to apply the rule of the jungle.
Fortunately, those forces were not strong enough to be able to face off against the alliance. In the end, they were restrained over the years.
But the information that we have gotten recently is that, they had a recent breakthrough in their research on mutants.
They have produced a high grade mutation serum, which not only does not pose any danger to the humans, but the abilities awakened are also stronger.
The only downside is the fact that they cannot mass-produce them, at least for the time being. They need to do a little more research, in order to make the process less complicated.
