Chapter 411: Despair
When Raymond heard the old man’s words, he finally understood. As he thought deeply about it, he realized, that seemed to be the case.
In most situations, the young scions from the big families had their partners already arranged by their parents. This was something that happened within the Morgan family, and many other top families out there.
Thereby, unless the partner that someone brought back was up to standard, it was impossible for them to make a decision on their own future.
They would just have to follow the arrangements of the family, and marry the person they had been arranged for.
Previously, he had heard that Michael had the final say on his future marriage life. But of course, Raymond had his own doubts about this.
Michael’s background was way big as compared to the Morgans. But even then, the Morgans arranged the future of the young generation. Mostly, it was to ensure that the status of the family was maintained, and the family continued to grow.
Because of this, he believed that Michael’s family would also arrange for him a suitable partner. But now, it seemed that that was not the case.
As he felt relieved, he also reflected on himself. Despite the fact that he was already engaged to someone, he was mostly having fun with some girls out there.
He usually had the mentality that he would have to enjoy himself first, before going back and settling down when the time was right.
He had never really considered many things, especially what the girls that he had fun with thought about, or their families. While he had never been forceful, and most of them clung on to him, was it not the same situation here with Michael?
It was the Morgan family that was trying to climb up the social ladder. Thereby, they could only be hopeful that Michael was serious. Otherwise, they would really suffer a loss.
Eventually, Raymond decided, from now on, he would no longer play as before. He would have to be serious in everything that he did, and consider other people as well.
At the same time, he thought about his fiancee, who he had never spent time with, and did not even know her well. It seems that he would have to get to know her, before it was the day of the marriage.
"Okay, go and tell Olivia about the news, and have her prepare. Since she is Kate’s mother, she should be the one handling the guest coming over." Charles stated.
As he watched as Raymond left, the old man was all smiles. He had never anticipated that they would get such a big chance.
He was not really that much focused on the gift that was being sent over. In any case, just how big of a gift would that be? But it was a completely different matter on the implication of the gift.
With Michael’s support, they would eventually be able to break into the capital. By then, the future of the Morgan family would be ensured.
....
After sending Chris away, Michael relaxed for a moment, before he stood up, intending to go to the villa to continue training.
But he had only started going up the stairs when he suddenly stopped. He thought about the invitation that he had received from the Wilsons.
It seemed that recently, he did not have much to do. So, he decided, on the following day, he would be going over to pay them a visit.
Previously, he had already sent a bio human over, so that he would ensure the safety of the family. As for the identity of the bio human, that was up to the bio human to decide.
Having made a decision, he took out his phone and made a call to Marion. A few seconds later, the call connected, and he immediately informed her about his visit on the following day.
If not for the fact that he had previously told Marion that he would inform them in advance, he would have gone over right now. But now, it seemed that he would have to do something else first.
Moving away from the stairs, Michael headed towards the basement. It was within the basement that someone was held, someone that Michael hated.
It was because of this guy that his parents ended up being killed. While he was not the one who had directly done it, he had ordered Bob to do it, implying that he was the mastermind.
Even though Bob had already been dealt with by Kate, for being the one that was behind the death of her father, Michael still had Amos to deal with.
He could remember the pain that he had felt when he heard that his parents had been killed during a bank heist. At that time, despite feeling helpless he really wanted to find the culprits and deal with them.
After the passing of his parents, he was taken to the orphanage. As for what his parents had accumulated over the years, it was supposed to be given to the orphanage, at least to be held by the old couple of the orphanage. Then, when he grew up, they would give it to him.
Unfortunately, the orphanage was kind of owned by gangsters from the shadow assembly gang. Therefore, they were the ones that took over everything that his parents ever owned.
And when Michael came to know that it was not accidental, but the death of his parents was orchestrated by someone, of course, he was incensed.
He had intended to deal with the Santos family back then, slowly. But now, things had changed.
He had been holding back dealing with the blood reapers syndicate, but it’s seemed that he had been giving Amos too many chances. This guy had attempted to have him killed on several occasions, where he obviously failed.
And it was the incident involving Jackson that finally, Michael decided that enough was enough. With Jackson dealing with most of the top members of the blood reapers syndicate, and Amos ’vanishing’, it could be said that the syndicate was already done for.
With the involvement of the government, no matter how many connections the syndicate had within the government, it would eventually crumble.
It was not just the government that would deal with them, but the other forces such as the Santos family and the silent order syndicate under it, upon being given a chance, would they miss it?
Recently, Onyx had already updated him about the situation of the blood reapers syndicate. Without the control of the top brass of the syndicate, many activities of the organization fell apart.
And with the other forces taking advantage of the situation, according to Onyx’s estimation, in less than a week, the blood reapers syndicate will completely disappear.
Michael thought about this as he continued going downstairs, finally reaching the first level of the basement.
Just within a few hours, the basement had been renovated, to the extent that there was another room that was added. The sound proofing of this room was extremely good, and it was within this room that Amos was held.
Michael opened the door, before stepping into the room. His eyes landed on an old man was sitting on the floor, his eyes listless as they looked at the ceiling.
He did not even seem to notice Michael entering the room, as he continued looking at nothing on the ceiling.
Michael did not mind this at all. He closed the door behind him, before he approached Amos. He stood in front of him for quite a while, before he finally crouched down, his face on the same level as Amos’.
Even then, Amos did not react. Maybe the guy was deliberately ignoring Michael’s presence, or maybe his mind was somewhere else, that he completely failed to notice that someone was currently in front of him.
Michael stretched one of his hands, before using his fingers to flick Amos’ forehead. Of course, he made sure to hold back, otherwise, that simple flick would have been enough to be able to make Amos suffer a concussion.
"Aaah!" Amos’ body jolted as he suddenly screamed from the pain. While using his hands to rub his forehead that was already showing a red mark, he looked horrified as he gazed at Michael.
He tried to move back, but since he was already leaning on the wall, there was nowhere for him to go. Thereby, he could only continuously push his back against the wall, while looking at Michael.
"It seems that you are finally awake. I’m curious, what kind of dream were you daydreaming about?" Michael asked.
When Michael asked that question, Amos did not respond. Instead, his mind was a complete mess. The previous night, after helping the police with the investigation, he tried to run away.
With the warning that he had received from Jackson, he understood that Michael would come looking for him eventually. As for when that would be, he was not sure.
Nevertheless, he thought, since he still had a chance, he better bolt. But unexpectedly, his car was hijacked, and he was knocked unconscious, not even sure who had kidnapped him.
When he woke up, he found himself here, with the entire room painted white, completely empty. He tried to shout to see if anyone would talk to him, unfortunately, he was completely ignored, and the only other sound that heard for the past several hours was his own echo.
The door was locked, he could not open it. Therefore, he could only stay here as he thought about the fact that he was finished.
He also thought about who might have kidnapped him. Eventually, he thought that it might be the work of someone from the Santos family. It was the Santos family that had the most hatred against him.
Looking at Michael now, it seemed that he was right. It was just that he was not on the spot, as he had never really thought that Michael was the one who had kidnapped him.
"Okay, I have a few questions for you. I hope you cooperate, otherwise, there will be consequences." Michael did not mind the lack of response from Amos, as he spoke slowly.
