Chapter 430: You Have a Debt
While coming over, Michael had already received the information about the hotel. In the information, he knew that the hotel rose thirty-five floors above the ground and contained more than four hundred guest rooms and suites.
The lower floors were dedicated to public facilities, while the upper floors housed guest accommodations and executive services.
The ground floor contained the main lobby, reception, concierge desk, luggage services, a lobby lounge, an all-day dining restaurant, a café, several luxury boutiques, and administrative offices. Behind the lobby were the service corridors, loading areas, and staff facilities.
The second floor housed conference halls, meeting rooms, private business lounges, a ballroom capable of hosting several hundred guests, and a business center equipped with private offices and presentation rooms.
The third floor was dedicated to wellness and recreation. It featured a fully equipped fitness center, a luxury spa, massage rooms, a sauna, an indoor swimming pool, and a beauty salon.
The fourth through the twenty-eighth floors contained the hotel’s standard guest rooms. Each floor accommodated approximately 16 rooms, bringing the total to 400 guest rooms.
The twenty-ninth through the thirty-third floors were reserved for executive rooms and luxury suites. These floors contained approximately 8 suites each, offering larger living spaces, private lounges, and improved city views.
The thirty-fourth floor housed the Presidential Suites, private meeting rooms, an executive lounge, and exclusive facilities reserved for the hotel’s highest-paying guests.
The thirty-fifth floor contained a rooftop restaurant, a sky lounge, a private dining area, and an observation terrace overlooking the capital’s skyline.
Three basement levels beneath the hotel provided parking for several hundred vehicles, storage facilities, hotel operations, laundry services, staff changing rooms, engineering departments, and mechanical equipment required to support the building.
In total, the hotel contained 400 standard guest rooms, 40 executive suites, and 8 Presidential Suites, giving it a total of 448 accommodation units, making it one of the largest luxury hotels in the capital.
Michael made sure to know about this information, just in case he needed to utilize this information later on.
At the moment, according to the information that Onyx had found, it was clear that Morrison had not left his room ever since he checked in.
Michael did not doubt this, but there was a probability that he might be involved with other people. At the moment, Onyx could confirm that he was the only person involved in the incident with those four mutants.
Based on the information, the 332nd room was located on the twenty-fourth floor. It was positioned along the right side of the main corridor, a short distance from the end of the hallway.
....
24th Floor, room 24;332...
A king-size bed occupied the center of the room, with a bedside table and lamp on either side. Opposite the bed, a large television was mounted above a low cabinet.
Beyond the bed, floor-to-ceiling windows stretched across the far wall, with both its curtains drawn. Beside the windows was a sofa with a small coffee table, while a work desk and chair were positioned nearby.
To the left of the entrance were the wardrobe, luggage rack, minibar, and coffee station.
On the sofa, a man, who seemed to be in his mind 30s, with a tall, athletic build, sat while watching a video on his smartphone.
His short black hair was cut in a military style, while his blue eyes scanned his surroundings from time to time. A strong jawline and well-defined features gave him a rugged appearance without making him look overly intimidating.
He wore a dark field jacket over a fitted olive-green sweater, paired with dark cargo pants and brown combat boots. A black wristwatch rested on his left wrist.
His expression was cold, and every few minutes, as he looked at the door, there was a hint of killing intent and in those eyes.
While he was waiting, he received a notification on his phone. He exited the video that he was watching, tapped on the notification, before the messages app on his phone opened.
Looking at the long message that he had received, he went through it within a few seconds. Immediately after, his expression shifted.
The coldness within his eyes intensified, as a frown appeared on his face. More than that, there was slight confusion, as if he could not understand something.
After thinking for a while, he replied to the message, {It doesn’t matter. Look for another method. If it fails again, you will have to pay the price for making me wait all this while for no reason.}
Obviously, the message that he had received informed him about a failure. The message itself did not exactly mention what the task was, but there was an explanation.
It mainly mentioned about a variable and the fact that the information that they had gotten on the prey was false. Therefore, the predator ended up becoming the prey.
Looking at that message, it would be kind of odd. But looking at the history of the conversation between the two parties, it seemed that they usually communicated about this.
It was just text messages, but they all talked about wild animals. Someone who was clueless about the identities of the two parties that were communicating would think that they were just talking about some wild animals.
After replying to the message, the man was obviously not in the mood to continue watching the video that he was watching before. Instead, he stood up, and looked outside through the floor to ceiling windows.
At the same time, he thought, ’It seems that things are a little more complicated than I had anticipated. Most probably, I might have to personally take action in order to deal with this.
But that will be a little more complicated, especially with my information within the organization.
It is hard to trust another hand to do what you want. If not for the constraints, I would have already done everything myself by now.
Seems I have to look for another person to handle this matter. If it all fails, then, just use the brain and find another method of dealing with this issue.’
As he was thinking about this, he squinted his eyes. But, he did not do anything else, despite thinking about contacting someone else.
’I guess I have to leave. Staying here for several days consecutively without leaving, it has definitely raised some questions in the minds of some people. At a time like this, it is better not to stand out, even by staying indoors.’ The guy thought to himself, before he went ahead and began packing.
He was prepared to leave, maybe, he should find something else to do, to avoid any form of suspicion, especially if his plans went through.
...
The corridor extended from the central elevator lobby, with eight rooms on each side. A housekeeping room was located near the elevators, while emergency staircases were positioned at both ends of the floor.
Large windows at the end of the corridor overlooked the capital’s skyline. This was the impression that Michael got the moment that he got to the 24th floor.
It was quite easy for him to be able to get here. He just asked for a room at the reception, and with some manipulation from Onyx, he got a room that was on this very floor.
Considering what he was about to do, Michael did not want to attract any attention. Therefore, at the moment, the way that he was acting, it was no different from a normal customer.
In the corridor, he could see that there were several cameras. The way that they were positioned, they did not leave any blind spots.
Michael did not bother with the cameras, as they could be handled by Onyx.
Looking at the key card in his hand, it belonged to room number 24; 327. The 24 indicated the floor number.
Michael was not sure about who had planned the arrangement of their rooms in this hotel, but they definitely did not do a good job.
Regardless, Michael completely ignored room number 327, and instead, headed towards the farthest end of the corridor.
Room 332 was on the right-hand side of the corridor, approximately the fourth room from the far end.
The moment that he got to the door, his sensitive hearing could clearly pick the movements from inside. Judging from the sound, it seemed that the person inside was packing?
This left Michael surprised, wondering, was it just a coincidence, or had this guy realized that something had gone wrong?
There was a high probability for any of the two options. But, the one with the highest probability was obviously the second one. With the plan that he had set in motion having failed, he might have already received the information about what had happened.
That might be the reason why he was preparing to leave. And if that really was the case, then this guy was quite cautious.
Regardless, that did not matter. Michael just went ahead and knocked on the door a few times, before he waited.
Inside the room, the movements obviously paused the moment he knocked. There was no movement for quite a while, before Michael knocked on the door again.
This time, a voice responded, "Sorry, I’m about to leave. So, I don’t need any services for the time being."
The guy obviously thought that it was room service. Michael just shook his head as he responded, "I’m not part of the hotel staff. It is just that you have a debt that you need to pay."
This time, there was an extended moment of silence, before there was a response, "Who are you? And what debt are you talking about?"
