Chapter 200: Mo Chen Returns (Part 1)
The man sitting opposite him raised his eyebrows at Xiao Yuanwei’s question.
"Your Excellency wants to know?" He asked rhetorically.
Xiao Yuanwei furrowed his brows and nodded, "Please tell me."
"You will know when the time is right." He told him. "I don’t dare to interfere in this matter."
Especially when it came to his own disciple’s family’s matters. Would Little Ya think he meddled too much later?
He already saw the red thread of marriage fate between Zhou Anran and Xiao Yuanwei, and whether they would be a harmonious couple, it was hard to say.
Everything would depend on a lot of factors... and he didn’t want to interfere unless it was absolutely necessary.
Xiao Yuanwei wasn’t angry.
"So, they are really my wife and children." He nodded at Mo Chen and got up. "Thank you for your time."
With that, he excused himself and headed outside. His men followed. After years of getting to know Mo Chen, he could still pick up something from the man’s expression.
He really didn’t come to Mo Chen to get an answer; he only needed to confirm something.
Once Xiao Yuanwei arrived in his place, he went to his study and began to ponder about something.
In another place, Xiao Qingya was quite excited when she heard that her master had also arrived in the Capital. It was Physician Bai who had come bringing back the news.
"He will visit tomorrow." Physician Bai smiled. "He had just arrived today."
The Xiao family members were quite anxious, but they tried to rein in their anxiety. It had been so many days since they arrived in the Capital, and even with Xiao Yuanwei’s men joining the search, they still didn’t get any positive result.
"Alright, alright," Xiao Yuxi waved her hand. "We will surely prepare a feast tomorrow to welcome Master Mo."
After Physician Bai delivered the news to them, he left.
Now, it was only the Xiao family’s members there. Zhou Wenzhi and Zhou Shuran had gone out to find some nearby fertile fields they could buy.
Meanwhile, Zhou Anran and Xiao Qingya went inside the storage space.
They also found a martial art teacher for Xiao Fenghao and Xiao Yuxi. Zhou Anran had absolutely forbidden them from running around the Capital by themselves.
She was worried about them in such a place like the Capital. Her second son and eldest daughter sometimes could be reckless, and she didn’t want them to get hurt or run into trouble.
If they wanted to go out, Xiao Jingran, her reliable eldest son, had to accompany them.
Currently Zhou Anran was transplanting the young rice plants into the fields. It had taken her much effort because she was alone and Xiao Qingya was too young and small.
She could hear her daughter’s inner thoughts and worry.
[It has been so many days since we told the ghosts in the Capital to report to us if they saw my second sister...] Xiao Qingya muttered worriedly.
[But there hadn’t been any substantial news at all. I began to wonder if my second sister is at the Capital at all.]
Zhou Anran fell silent.
She was actually also wondering the same thing like her daughter. It wouldn’t have been weird if the kidnapper suddenly changed their minds and decided not to go to the Capital any longer.
Or... in the worst scenario, maybe something had happened to them.
[Should I ask my mother and eldest brother to search in the cities near the Capital?] She wondered, rubbing her chin that her face was smeared with mud.
Just like a reliable advisor, the System immediately reminded her.
[Host, meet your master first. He might have a solution for this.]
The little one’s eyes suddenly lit up at the mention of Mo Chen. She picked up the white little cat from her shoulder and began to spin it around.
[That’s right. We can only rely on my master for the time being...] she slowly trailed off.
The System became all dirty from the mud on her hands; it was feeling helpless.
[Master shouldn’t immediately remember to test me on the first meeting, right?]
Now, as Xiao Qingya planted the young rice plants in the muddy soil, she couldn’t help but worry about a new problem.
The System finally wriggled out of her grasp and returned to perch on her shoulder. If it told her host the truth, it was afraid her host would directly stuff it into the mud.
Outside the storage space, Xiao Fenghao and Xiao Yuxi were taken aback.
The martial art teacher was a different person.
"Second Young Master Xiao, Eldest Young Miss Xiao," the person greeted them amidst their confusion.
Xiao Fenghao narrowed his eyes slightly. "Who are you?"
The person smiled and introduced himself to them. "Second Young Master, I am a guard under Master Han Tingxun."
So, he was Han Tingxun’s subordinate, which means he worked for Xiao Yuanwei, their so-called father.
Xiao Fenghao and Xiao Yuxi glanced at each other. They were confused why this person was suddenly here.
The person understood their confusion and added, "I will be your new martial art instructor. Master Zheng had something urgent on his side and had to leave the Capital in a hurry. He entrusted this matter of teaching the two of you to me."
A look of disbelief crossed their faces.
They actually didn’t quite believe the latter second half of what he had said.
"How do you know us...?" Xiao Yuxi trailed off, sensing something odd but didn’t know what it was.
She felt like she had missed something.
"I was with His Excellency during the trip to the Capital," he explained calmly, looking like an easy going person.
Some of Xiao Yuanwei’s guards also had masks covering their faces, so it was understandable they wouldn’t recognize him.
Xiao Fenghao pursed his lips tightly. Ever since he discovered that Xiao Yuanwei was their father, he also suspected that he was slowly recovering from his amnesia.
"Did His Excellency send you here?" He asked.
