Chapter 113 | Mister Wayne, Young Leader Michael

Dexter remained frowning as Violette called the waiter and started the process of payment.

’Ultra University.’

He had never heard of such a thing. He had heard of Hero University, of course.

He had finished secondary school but never attended one. Hero Universities were for the wealthy.

Dexter didn’t need a certificate as his path became clear when he got the system.

Become a licensed hunter, raid dungeons, use the Slaughter Extraction System to grow stronger with every kill, earn money, and spoil his wives, making them grow even stronger.

As for the Hero university, it was unnecessary for that route.

But an Ultra University? That classification of academy was entirely new to him.

He was intensely curious, but Violette didn’t seem to want to explain as she paid the waiter, stood up, and wanted to leave.

Before she could take a single step, a voice suddenly spoke out from behind her.

"Violette?"

The voice was masculine, wounded, confident, and was quite gruff.

A young man stepped out from between the tables.

The young man was tall and had a chiseled jaw that looked as though it had been carved from marble.

His tailored suit perfectly complemented his broad shoulders and fit body.

Every detail of his appearance was neat, from the crisp knot of his tie to the mirror-like shine of his shoes.

He looked like a model who’d just walked out of a magazine.

A charming smile spread across his face as he approached.

"Violette," he repeated, his smile widening. "I thought I recognized you from across the room. I figured my eyes were playing tricks on me, but... it’s actually you."

Dexter blinked his eyes and observed the exchange.

The moment the man appeared, Violette’s face turned indifferent.

"Wayne," she said flatly. "I’m leaving."

She moved to walk past him, but Wayne shifted effortlessly into her path. It didn’t look aggressive but natural instead.

"No, no," he said, his smile never wavering. "You can’t leave just like that. I’ve been trying to get in touch with you for the past month. Please... don’t leave on my account."

Violette’s gaze turned cold as she stared at the young man.

The young man’s attention drifted to Dexter.

A subtle frown came across his face as his eyes landed on Dexter.

Dexter was dressed plainly and ordinary, like those construction workers. His eyes drifted to his feet, and the arrogance in Wayne’s face increased.

Dexter looked ordinary. Perhaps a little handsome, but nothing that explained why someone of Violette’s standing would be dining with him in a restaurant like this.

The frown disappeared like it had never appeared in the first place as he revealed a fake smile and stretched his hand out.

"I’m Wayne," he said pleasantly. "And who are you?"

Dexter glanced at the offered hand before shifting his gaze to Violette.

She hadn’t said a word, but he caught the faint flicker in her violet eyes.

Dexter looked back at Wayne’s outstretched hand, stood up, and replied curtly.

"Hey, I’m leaving."

He gave Violette a brief nod then without a second thought, walked past Wayne without another word.

Dexter didn’t want to get tangled into whatever was happening between the two. They might be exes and might have had a relationship with each other; everything would simply be messy if he gets involved. So he decided to walk away instead.

His sandals made muffled flip-flop sounds as he exited the restaurant, and moments later, he was gone.

Wayne remained motionless, his hand still suspended awkwardly in the air.

For the briefest instant, his smile cracked, and his brown eyes turned pure red.

Wayne was an Ultra-Rank Hero.

Every superhuman hero who met him would immediately show respect without being needed to be told.

Power was respect in this world, it was simply the natural order of things.

Yet this ordinary-looking man hadn’t merely failed to show him respect.

He had dismissed him entirely.

A faint killing intent leaked out as his gaze hardened.

Then Wayne inhaled slowly.

His composure returned until his polished smile settled back into place.

Violette, seeing the exchange, chuckled lightly as she reached for her handbag.

"If there’s nothing else," she said coolly, "I’ll be leaving."

She slung the bag over her shoulder and headed for the exit.

This time Wayne didn’t block her.

Instead, he fell into step beside her, matching her pace.

"You should really get in touch with Young Leader Michael," he said casually, but there was a hidden force in his tone.

"He’s been trying to reach you. Just as I have, he has something he wants to tell you. Something he believes you might actually be willing to hear."

Violette suddenly stopped.

Around them, the restaurant carried on as normally and yet, the space between Violette and Wayne had gone deathly cold.

Then she turned.

Her violet eyes met his.

The cold within them could have frozen an ocean.

"It seems Michael has been lenient towards you. Speak to me that way and you will not just lose your tongue. And as for Young Leader Michael, tell him that if we ever choose to ally with another faction, it certainly won’t be with Blood Crown."

She stared at Wayne, whose face had drained a bit of color, then smiled.

Without waiting for a response, she turned and walked away.

Wayne stood where he was, watching her disappear through the restaurant doors.

He was still smiling but his face was slightly pale from fear. However, the fear and the fake smile vanished.

A streak of crimson veins bulged along the side of his neck, up to the edge of his eyes, before it slowly receded as pure killing intent flashed within his eyes.

His gaze instantly became savage and bloodthirsty. It was terrifying.

It lasted only a heartbeat before he managed to compose himself.

Throughout the entire exchange, another young man had stood quietly behind Wayne.

He hadn’t spoken nor had he moved a muscle to draw attention to himself.

Only after Violette disappeared completely did he finally break the silence.

"Mister Wayne..."

He hesitated.

"I don’t understand why Young Leader Michael is so determined to form an alliance with them."

Wayne slowly turned.

His gaze settled on the young man with the crushing weight of a collapsing mountain.

The temperature around them seemed to drop as if the killing intent he had suppressed moments earlier still lingered in the air.

The young man’s face instantly lost all color.

Sweat formed across his forehead as he lowered his head, his earlier curiosity evaporating without a trace.

Wayne opened his mouth and spoke in a calm but terrifying tone.

"You presume to question Young Leader Michael’s decisions?"

The young man hurriedly shook his head.

"I... I wouldn’t dare."

Wayne’s expression remained impassive.

"Then learn to keep your mouth shut."

His face slowly calmed as he continued.

"The thoughts of Young Leader Michael are beyond people like us. Simply do your job and nothing more.

"...Yes, Mister Wayne."

The young man’s head faced the ground even more, and his entire body trembled with fear and respect.

Only after the restaurant gradually returned to normal did Wayne glance once more toward the exit Violette had taken.

A faint smile that didn’t reach his eyes slowly curved across his lips.

"So..."

he murmured to himself,

"You’ve really chosen your side."
