Chapter 114 | $1,000,000
As he exited onto the street, he overheard several patrons talking excitedly about a tournament happening at the Titan Training Center.
He the suddenly remembered about Simon and his strange sister.
’That must be the tournament Simon had mentioned. Maybe he would win?’
To him, Simon was too kind-hearted but he also knew kindheartedness doesn’t mean he isn’t a demon in combat.
He decided against going back to watch. Instead, he hailed a taxi. The green taxi stopped and after giving his home district, the driver with accent nodded his head and then took off... just like his mom.
***
The taxi had been driving for about 2 minutes when Dexter’s phone buzzed.
He pulled it out and glanced at the screen.
[Credit Alert: $200,000 deposited into your account]
He stared at the notification. Violette had actually kept her promise and sent part of the money.
Before he could fully process the number, a second notification appeared.
[Credit Alert: $870,000 deposited into your account.]
Dexter’s eyes widened.
$200,000 plus $870,000.
One million and seventy thousand dollars.
’I’m a freaking millionaire!’
Dexter’s mind trembled as he felt extremely giddy. He was an actual millionaire in less than a day!
A massive grin split across his face, almost reaching his ears.
It was so wide that even the taxi driver who offhandedly glanced at him through the rear mirror almost had a heart heart!
Fortunately, he had holy water in his car.
’Should be easy to tie the kid up and exorcise him.’
Dexter didn’t car what the driver thought. This was his first time having so much money. He had never in his life come into contact with such massive digits.
Except when using a calculator.
His mind immediately shifted into overdrive as he pulled up his phone’s browser and started searching.
What should he buy first? How should he spend the money? Buying a few things shouldn’t take all his money right?
He started to look on the internet what he could buy for the girls, big mistake. There was lots and lots of items on the internet.
So he settled on fashion clothing, shoes, boots, newer version wheel chair for Mira, newer phone model for Lyra and newer AI Contact Lens for Selene.
Then a thought struck him. He was in a taxi, why couldn’t he just purchase a vehicle instead of simply using a taxi. Then transporting the girls and items woukd be even easier. bulletproof SUV.
As he thought about this, he couldn’t keep the thought lying down. It’s a million dollar right? Buying a car shouldn’t take much from his money!
After pondering he decided to get a bulletproof SUV.
He was not going to repeat the highway incident where the taxi driver got sniped in the skull.
The driver who was at the front suddenly got goosebumps and he immediately made the cross sign over his chest. ’This boy might be really possessed!’
Dexter suddenly leaned forward and spoke.
"Change of plans, take me to Valerium car dealership at Raestrum District."
The driver nodded and adjusted his route.
Five minutes later, the taxi pulled up in front of a massive car dealership. The showroom floor stretched across an enormous, brightly lit space, filled with rows of gleaming vehicles of types and luxury.
Dexter stepped out of the taxi and walked inside. The moment he crossed into the building, a salesman in a tailored suit materialized at his side like he had just teleported.
"Good evening, sir! Welcome to Valerium Motors. How can I assist you today?"
Dexter smiled like the rich millionaire that he was.
"I need an SUV," he said. "Preferably bulletproof. Bulletproof glass, reinforced chassis, the works."
The salesman’s eyes brightened. "Of course, sir. We have an excellent selection of armored SUVs. Right this way."
He led Dexter through the showroom to a section where several rugged, imposing vehicles were parked.
Each one was black or dark grey, with thick, reinforced doors and windows.
"This is our latest model," the salesman said, gesturing proudly at a sleek, modern SUV.
"This year’s edition. Reinforced vibranium-alloy frame, mana-infused bulletproof glass rated to withstand Superhuman-level impacts, self-sealing tires, and a built-in mana shield generator. Retail price: $350,000."
Dexter’s heart jumped. 350k just for a car? His entire fortune would be gone just by purchasing three!
Dexter pretended to observe the vehicle truly in fact, he was looking for ways to reject this vehicle and maybe can el his whole plan of buying anything at all.
But as he examined the vehicle, he noticed that it was quite beautiful. But was Modern, aggressive and really looked like a manly vehicle.
But It was too flashy.
If he drove this thing through his neighborhood, every pair of eyes on the street would track it and people would know he got into some money.
If he saw the vehicle the next morning, then that simply mean pigs could fly.
Dexter looked at the salesman and shook his head.
"This," he said. "It’s too flashy. Don’t you have old models, preferably one that is perfect to assist with someone with wheelchair?"
The salesman’s smile faltered slightly. "I’m sorry, sir? You want a reinforced car that is perfect for transporting someone in a wheelchair and make things easier?"
Dexter nodded and added. "Don’t forget not flashy either. I need something that looks ordinary on the outside but is reinforced underneath."
The salesman blinked, he recovered as he smiled professional. "I understand completely, sir. Follow me."
Dexter thought the salesman might tell him they don’t have, giving him a perfect excuse to withdraw from this purchase.
But seeing the confident expression on the young man’s face, Dexter decided to go with him.
The young man led Dexter across the showroom floor, to a quieter section at the back. Here, the vehicles were older body styles, muted colors, and ordinary in every way. Outside, they wouldn’t earn a second glance on any street.
"This is our Reliability Line," the salesman explained. "Older exterior designs, but we retrofit the internals with the same military-grade reinforcement packages as our newest models. Same protection but less attention."
Dexter’s eyes scanned the row and settled on a dark grey SUV. It looked perfectly ordinary!
The kind of vehicle you’d see in a grocery store parking lot and immediately forget.
Dexter when forward to open the door and he was surprised.
The door was easily three times heavier than a standard car door. The windows was also bulletproof and the interior was minimalist and wide too.
"What’s the spec on this one?" Dexter asked, sliding into the driver’s seat.
"Excellent choice, sir," the salesman said, brightening. "This is the Vanguard V4. Reinforced vibranium-steel alloy chassis, hidden beneath standard exterior paneling. Ballistic resistant bulletproof glass rated to withstand Peak Superhuman-level impacts. Self-sealing run-flat tires."
"Built-in mana shield generator with a six-hour sustained output. EMP-resistant electronics. And a 600-horsepower mana-hybrid engine that runs on both standard fuel and Nexus Cores."
He walked to the rear of the vehicle and pressed a button on the key fob.
The tailgate rose automatically.
Then, with a soft mechanical hum, the floor folded outward as a compact hydraulic ramp extended smoothly to the ground.
"The rear cabin has been completely reconfigured," the salesman continued. "The third-row seats have been removed to create a dedicated wheelchair bay. It features an automatic restraint system that locks the chair securely to the floor, during sudden maneuvers."
He stepped aside, allowing Dexter to look inside.
The interior was surprisingly spacious.
A wheelchair could roll straight up the ramp without needing to be lifted. Once inside, it would lock into place automatically, leaving enough room for another passenger to sit comfortably beside it.
The roof had been raised slightly to provide extra headroom, and the side doors opened nearly ninety degrees, making transfers effortless if they were ever necessary.
"Despite the modifications," the salesman added with a smile, "from the outside, it still looks like an ordinary family SUV."
It was perfect to transport Mira with the vehicle!
"So how much is it?"
The salesman smiled.
"Including the reinforcement package and accessibility conversion, the total comes to $280,000 sir."
Dexter almost went mad right there it was simply too expensive.
However, the mind was willing, but the flesh was unruly.
He ran his hand over the steering wheel. It was really really comfortable.
He looked at the salesman. "I’ll take it."
The salesman’s face lit up like a sunrise. "Fantastic, sir! If you can provide your Hero license, I’ll start the paperwork immediately."
The moment the young man saw the gold card, his face changed and what supposed to take thirty minutes was finished in ten.
Within ten minutes, Dexter had transferred the funds, signed the registration documents, and was handed a pair of keys.
He slid into the driver’s seat, adjusted the mirrors, and twisted the key.
"Vroooom!"
The way the engine purred made Dexter feel like it was totally worth it.
He pulled out of the dealership onto the city street.
