Chapter 754: Xue Feng’s Request
"I was wondering if there’s any way we can get the Buddha’s Relic?" Xue Feng cut to the chase, asking directly about the matter for Ye Qingchen.
Upon hearing this, everyone’s eyes widened in disbelief.
"Xue Feng? What did you just say? Did I hear you correctly? Did you say the Buddha’s Relic?" an elder asked, his eyes wide, once he had recovered from the shock.
Xue Feng nodded. "Yes, that’s the one. The Buddha’s Relic from the First Mystic Realm."
At this, the other elders all reacted, looking at Xue Feng with very odd expressions.
"Xue Feng, you could have asked for anything else! Why on earth would you want the Buddha’s Relic? Do you have any idea how hard that thing is to find? Even if our entire clan mobilized, we might not find it in that Secret Realm!"
"That’s right. What the Sixth Elder said was a bit of an exaggeration. If our entire clan mobilized, we might have a chance of finding it. But to get the Buddha’s Relic, the most important thing is to have someone at the Family Head’s level take action. Only they can sense the Relic’s location within the Secret Realm!"
"Exactly! But the Family Head would never agree to help you with this. Even if he did take action, it would consume a considerable amount of his energy, and that’s not something he can recover from with just ten days or half a month of rest."
"Xue Feng, why are you suddenly looking for the Buddha’s Relic? We’re not trying to discourage you, but you should really ask for something else."
"Yes, if you’re set on the Buddha’s Relic, there’s really nothing we can do to help you."
The elders all began speaking at once.
Xue Feng frowned upon hearing their words. It seems helping Ye Qingchen will be more difficult than I thought.
"Elders, I know this is a very difficult request, but that item is quite important to me. This is the only condition I have," Xue Feng said with resolve.
The reason Xue Feng was so willing to help Ye Qingchen was simply because of Xue Zhao... He knew Ye Qingchen and Xue Zhao had a good relationship.
Seeing Xue Feng so adamant about the Buddha’s Relic, all the elders sighed and shook their heads.
"My goodness, we were just singing your praises, and now you come to us with this. Even if we go to the Family Head, there’s no way he’ll help you!"
"Indeed! Xue Feng, this is a rare opportunity. If you waste it like this, you might never get another chance!"
"You handled such a difficult matter in the outer city and earned so much merit, only to end up with nothing. That can’t feel good."
"Xue Feng, you’d have a better chance asking for a Divine Level Cultivation Technique than the Buddha’s Relic!"
The elders all tried to persuade him, but Xue Feng’s mind was made up.
"There’s no need to convince me. My mind is made up. Please, just bring my request before the Family Head. I’m not afraid of wasting this opportunity!" Xue Feng said, refusing to budge.
Seeing how resolute he was, the elders could only shake their heads helplessly.
"Xue Feng, since you insist on the Buddha’s Relic, we’ll mention it for you. It’s a shame to see such a great opportunity go to waste. It’s painful for us to watch."
"It is. Even if we tell the Family Head, he will surely reject it outright. Xue Feng, don’t get your hopes up."
"Alright, Xue Feng, we’ll speak on your behalf. You can go back for now."
The elders were deeply regretful, but Xue Feng seemed completely unfazed.
To him, this opportunity wasn’t actually that important. How could he not know the nature of the Xue Family? Even if they had something valuable, they would never give it to a member with a humble background like him. The elders might have paid lip service to helping him, but he knew they were really just looking out for their own interests.
After Xue Feng left, the elders’ faces all turned sour.
"This Xue Feng! A golden opportunity was right in front of him, and he just threw it away! If you ask me, he’s just a good-for-nothing."
"We shouldn’t have even given him a pleasant look! What a waste of our good intentions!"
"In that case, should we still even bother bringing up the Buddha’s Relic for him?" one of the complaining elders asked, his eyes wide.
The moment he asked, many others chimed in, "Asking is pointless, so why should we speak for him?"
"Exactly! Asking on his behalf is just a waste of our breath!"
The leading elder heard their words, stood up, and shook his head. "No, no, no! We most certainly should ask for him! However, I am curious... what does he need the Buddha’s Relic for? Cultivators like us certainly have no use for that thing."
This question plunged everyone into deep thought.
"You’re right. At his current stage, even if his cultivation has hit a bottleneck, he shouldn’t need that. So what is he planning to do with it?"
"That’s a good point. Could it be that he wants to use the Buddha’s Relic to refine something extraordinary?"
The group of elders was once again filled with questions.
The leading elder gestured for them to quiet down. "Alright, alright, enough wild speculation. We can just send someone to find out. As for mentioning his request, it’s a simple matter. If we don’t bring it up and he holds it against us later, it would make things awkward for all of us."
This suggestion provided a path forward, and no one had any objections.
"Fine, we’ll do as you say. We’ll mention it for him when the time comes."
「Meanwhile, elsewhere.」
After separating from Qi Tian and Qi Sheng, Xiao Xiao began wandering around the vast Xue Family estate.
"Xue Zhao’s pet is so strange. Why did it just run off like that? Could it be that the little thing doesn’t even like Xue Zhao?" Xiao Xiao murmured to herself as she walked.
Without realizing it, she wandered quite a distance. The scenery changed, and soon she noticed something was amiss. She found herself in an increasingly secluded area, even more desolate than where they were staying. The surroundings were nothing but stretches of woods, eerily quiet and devoid of people, where the only sound was the wind whooshing through the rustling leaves.
"Strange, I didn’t know the Xue Family had such a remote place. But there’s a path here, so I can’t be lost, can I?"
Looking at the path beneath her feet and the seemingly endless woods ahead, Xiao Xiao couldn’t help but scratch her head, hesitating about whether to continue on.
"Oh, forget it. I’ll just keep going. The little pet might be in there." Who knows where that little pet ran off to? Perhaps it dislikes humans and has hidden away in this quiet place.
