Xiao Xiao continued along the path. The deeper she walked, the colder it felt. I’m not sure if it’s my imagination, but this place feels eerily sinister.

As she walked, a sudden gust of wind whipped around her, seemingly containing some kind of Energy.

Xiao Xiao stood still, hesitating whether to move forward, when a streak of light flashed toward her at high speed. With her eyes wide open, she only realized it was a sharp blade when it was almost upon her.

SNAP!

Xiao Xiao dodged quickly, and the blade stabbed straight into the tree trunk behind her. In an instant, the speared trunk crashed to the ground. Seeing this, Xiao Xiao couldn’t help but furrow her brows.

"Who’s there? Why don’t you show yourself!" Xiao Xiao shouted toward the direction the blade had come from. "Whoever you are, get out here right now! Don’t think you’re safe just because you’re hiding!"

After she finished shouting, she noticed her surroundings had become unnervingly quiet. If she had dodged a moment later, that strike would have killed her. Even though no one answered, Xiao Xiao was certain the person was still nearby—and a very dangerous one at that.

She continued to yell, "Stop hiding! I know you’re lurking in the darkness! What are you trying to do!?"

"Little girl, you talk too much."

A cold voice came from the darkness.

"Who are you!?"

"Who I am is not important. What matters is that you’ve trespassed here, and for that, you must die!"

The voice from the darkness was thick with murderous intent. Upon hearing this, Xiao Xiao’s heart skipped a beat. That voice is so unfamiliar! Who is he?

"I was just passing by, with no ill intentions," Xiao Xiao quickly explained, as she could feel that this person truly intended to kill her.

To dare kill so brazenly within the Xue Family compound... I can’t even imagine who this person could be.

"Is that so? Since you were just passing by, why did you feel the need to trespass here!?" the mysterious man’s voice remained cold and detached.

"I... I came looking for my pet!"

Xiao Xiao could feel a chilling coldness emanating from him, giving her goosebumps. Besides, this is the Xue Family’s estate. I don’t know who he is, so I can’t risk a fight.

"Your pet?" After hearing her words, the mysterious man’s tone grew even colder. "It seems I’ll have to send you on your way."

His voice resonated once more, this time laden with lethal intent.

"Hey! I only stumbled in here by accident. If I offended you, I apologize. But since I trespassed by mistake and you want to kill me for it, I have no reason to be polite anymore!" Xiao Xiao’s expression hardened, her words deadly serious.

"Hahaha!" The mysterious man burst into laughter. "Little girl, you certainly don’t lack courage!"

Hearing his response, Xiao Xiao’s eyes darted around. "It doesn’t matter how courageous I am. What matters is that I’m still in the Xue Family’s territory. If you kill me here, you won’t escape the consequences! So you’d better back off!"

"Hahaha! Little girl, you really are naive! Do you think I’d let you go!?"

After speaking, the mysterious man vanished. Xiao Xiao immediately became vigilant.

His martial arts are unfathomable. This person is no ordinary expert. I can’t worry about that now, though. The most important thing is to get out of here.

However, before she could react, the mysterious man appeared beside her once again. This time, he held a sharp sword and thrust it at her without hesitation.

Seeing this, Xiao Xiao quickly dodged to the side.

BOOM!

With a tremendous crash, the ground where Xiao Xiao had been standing was split in two by the man’s sword, turning to rubble. The force of the blow also pushed Xiao Xiao back several steps. After steadying herself, she immediately retreated.

"Hmph!" The mysterious man scoffed.

Wielding his sword, he lunged at Xiao Xiao again. As she watched the onslaught, Xiao Xiao continued to dodge, but her assailant’s moves grew more ferocious, forcing her to constantly retreat.

With no other choice, she had to draw her own weapon.

SWISH!

A streak of silver light flashed as a slender sword appeared in Xiao Xiao’s grasp.

"Break!" Xiao Xiao shouted, pushing the Elemental Power within her to its limit and unleashing her full strength against the mysterious man’s blade.

When the swords clashed, an explosive shockwave spread out instantly. Xiao Xiao’s arm went numb, as if it no longer belonged to her.

Seeing this, the mysterious man snorted coldly. "Young girl, for someone your age to possess such strength is quite remarkable."

His praise brought Xiao Xiao no pleasure. Instead, her expression soured. "Who exactly are you?"

"Who I am is not important. What matters is that I must kill you today!"

A chill ran down Xiao Xiao’s spine. He’s not joking! His strength is terrifyingly formidable!

"You..." Xiao Xiao glared at the mysterious man, her eyes filled with rage. He’s powerful, and I’m struggling against him. But kill me? No way!

With a sudden motion, she brandished her sword and lunged at her opponent.

BANG!

Their weapons collided, sending them both flying backward. Xiao Xiao spun in the air before landing, stumbling several steps back with a pale complexion. The mysterious man, however, was completely unscathed, his expression indifferent. Seeing this, her face soured.

This is bad; I can’t keep this up. I have to run! Her mind raced as she glanced around, desperately searching for an escape route.

Seeing her intent to flee, the corners of the mysterious man’s mouth lifted into a cold smirk.

"Think you can run?"

The moment he finished speaking, a silver needle shot toward Xiao Xiao. She rolled to her left, narrowly dodging the attack.

Seeing this, a mocking curve appeared on the mysterious man’s lips. This girl really is something else. Still, her struggles are futile.

With a flick of his wrist, the man’s sword stabbed out again. Seeing the incoming thrust, Xiao Xiao promptly blocked it with her slender sword.

CLANG!

The crisp sound rang out. The impact rattled Xiao Xiao’s arm so badly that her slender sword nearly flew from her grasp.

Damn it! Where are the members of the Xue Family? How can they let someone attack people so recklessly in their territory! She wanted to run, but it was clear the mysterious man before her had no intention of letting her go.
