Isekai Taneuma

Back then, in the forest,

A small village with a population of about 100 people spread out to fit neatly under a giant tree in a large forest. Gargantuar settlements lived noisy and calm days as usual.

Three months had passed since Feng was expelled and Mani studied abroad, and the villagers had forgotten about them and lived at ease. The elders were waiting for a message, which was a private reason for wanting the mushrooms I asked for, and no one was worried about them leaving.

Mary's words, shouting that it was unacceptable to kill a newborn child, pierced the hearts of the villagers. On that day, after expelling the Phoenix, they were made to struggle to forgive the noisy ones. Inside, even those who chased the feng who disturbed the order of the village and said they were going to kill them appeared.

But the next day, as if nothing had happened, no one would talk about them. As if Feng and the others hadn't been there from the beginning, the village was back to normal. No one wants to kill their own child. Everyone in the village knew that there was no solution to this settlement but to relieve the wounds by forgetting.

That's pathetic... but Gargantuar didn't want to change anything. If anything could have changed, it would have changed a long time ago, and I knew very well that there was no future for the beasts of the Great Forest only to maintain the status quo.

There is a village square right in front of you when you leave the chief's house. Surrounding the square were houses lined up with elders' houses and high-ranking families in the village. Feng used to live in one of them, but now other families have moved in, and there are no traces of them.

Neither the mosquito nets hanging to avoid mosquitoes, nor the mints planted to keep insects away, nor the only cooking area in the village that was built in the house were removed, and the inorganic walls and floors were bare so that I could not remember what happened there anymore.

After passing through the square and entering the jungle from outside the village for just a few tens of meters, you can see a two-story house in the open space. The Adventurers Guild's quarters were now entirely unavailable, and the plants in the garden were stretched.

Lucy's drying table, which was always drying her laundry, was covered in vines that grew out of the ground and looked like a green mountain. The surroundings of the house were completely covered in weeds, like abandoned ruins. Only the crushed ground shaped the trail as if it were still waiting for the Lord's return, but it would be a matter of time before the weeds would cover it if he remained absent.

Occasionally, mail was delivered, even in the absence of a resident, due to the Adventurers Guild's information network, but it has been gone for weeks. Since the villagers expelled their predecessors, they realized that the replacement staff would hardly come, and it was judged more efficient to fly.

The lack of information meant that we could not communicate, and Gargantuar had to walk from the village to the adjacent branch for a few days to get in touch with Mani. At first, I thought it was still good, but from the position of chief, I realized that I couldn't leave the village so often, and he was having trouble. He didn't know that it was so painful not to know if his son was in trouble. The village was isolated.

This delayed him from realizing that changes were taking place in the big forest.

One day, Gargantuar was waiting for Mani's letter. When he returned home to the guild, as usual, the head of the settlement, far away from where he would normally have never met before, asked him.

When he found Gargantuar returning, he greeted the elder politely and walked back to him.

"Gargantuar, was it a disaster?"

"Oh, how are you?"

They stared at each other as they stared at each other, and then shook hands as they gauged the timing, as if they were in the presence of a sumo wrestler. Our faces are flushing because it's not sunny or hot, and we're doing our best. The palms that gripped each other were so close that they could hear the gyu and pseudonym.

The two were never bad friends, but they weren't. Among the chiefs who unite the tribes of the great forest, because of their age and level, they have often been compared to each other for a long time, and one day they became rivals who were aware of each other's bees.

The rival chief groaned and said, biting his back teeth, pulling his canine teeth out, and putting his strength into it like an all-powerful force, without grasping the clutch to let go.

"I've been in touch, but I didn't hear back at all, so I came all the way here. Confronting an Alliance is against the rules of the forest. What are you doing in your village?"

Gargantuar replied with a smooth expression as he waved his hand at the opponent.

"I'm sorry I rubbed with the guild. But I was checking every day to make sure it wasn't delivered to the guild."

"It didn't arrive, so I guess that's how I got here."

"What!? What are you talking about?"

Your village was the only one with a contact network.

Gargantuar was upset, but when asked in detail, it seemed that the defect was on his side.

The rival leader had been in touch with him through the Adventurer Alliance, but the absence of a resident did not seem to have reached him. In addition, it appeared that the relationship with the neighboring village had deteriorated due to the expulsion of Feng, the benefactor, and the separate communication had been interrupted. The chief of the neighboring village deliberately ignored contact with Gargantuar.

Gargantuar was a bitter decision to bow his head to his enemies, but his chief, he couldn't help but bow his head to his rivals.

"I'm sorry about that. Thank you for coming all the way for my village."

"Hmm, that's what I should have said from the beginning."

"... so why did you call me?

"Yes, it was."

When the rival chief remembers that he didn't come here to annoy himself,

"During this time, the chiefs of the major villages gathered for a chiefs' meeting. I had to discuss it urgently."

"What!? A council of chiefs?

Since 300 years ago, the veterinarian society, which allowed the demon tribes to invade, has been cooperating with each other avoiding disputes between veterinarians. But it was at the level of the neighboring village, and there was no such thing as a discussion across the big forest.

Much more must have happened by doing it. That was the first time that a council of chiefs had been held, such as the Demon King Crusade Conference.

"Why didn't you call me to such an important meeting?

"That's why I've called you so many times!

"Mh... mmh... so what was decided at the council of chiefs?

"Oh, I came to tell you that. Listen to me. This is not my opinion. That's what we all decided."

The rival chief sourned his mouth, emphasizing that this had been decided at the meeting, and then began talking about what had happened at the meeting.

According to it, in the past few months, the village has been destroyed by the demonic invasion, and a large number of tribes have lost their places of destination. Tribes that have lost their chiefs are fragile, and if they are absorbed by other tribes, they are often fed by demons as they are. So the beasts joined hands, and when they heard that the demons had come out, they cooperated across the hedge of the village and defeated them.

Then I remember Gargantuar. They have worked with the Feng and defeated the Oannes many times. The fishmongers don't know where they're coming from, but they're coming out whether they're going to kill them or not. Is that what other weaker tribes can't handle?

The rival chief shook his head and corrected what Gargantuar thought.

"No, it's not. They didn't get hit by Oannes. The orc did it."

"Orcs...?

An orc is a giant demon tribe that occasionally flows from Neuroi. I've never seen Gargantuar, but I've heard that even my own class of beasts are powerful enough to deal with without just a few.

According to the story, it's happening in large quantities.

"When I talked to the people who were beaten, they said they were dealing with Oannes at first. Whether you knock it down or knock it down, if you're tired of the mermaids showing up again sometime, they suddenly turn into orcs when they do."

"No way? It's a mistake. The weak demons gave me the name of such a strong demon because I'm not dressed well."

When Gargantuar gave back his unbelievable opinion, the rival chief nodded that he agreed.

"If it was just one tribe, yes. But there are a lot of tribes that have seen orcs. Some of them were more specific, and it seems that the villagers who were scolded to defeat Oannes came across the birth of Oannes."

I see. The fish people who come here are always pregnant, so I would have expected this one day. You got more oanness, didn't you?

Then the rival chief snorted at his dissatisfaction when he told him not to break his back.

"No! The scorn says that Oannes gave birth to the orc. The newborn orc soon began to kill his mother and eat the dead flesh. And when I dragged my friends out of other mothers' stomachs, I started eating dead meat with them again."

"Stupid! I can't believe it!

When Gargantuar shouted at an event that was too shocking, the rival chief nodded that he agreed.

"I can't believe it either. But none of them have seen the demon breed. And the orc actually showed up, so I can't tell you it's a lie."

"Uhhhh...."

"I still don't know if it's true, but the orcs that have appeared here recently are not hagles, they're organizing themselves. When this happens, we Wesen can't win alone. All we have to do is fight together."

Gargantuar nodded many times without saying that he agreed.

"Of course, we'll help. So what do we do? Should we gather the warriors and go?

"I'm going to do that, too. But there's one more thing I need you to do."

The rival chief then began talking about a proposal that had been decided at the meeting, emphasizing that it was not his own personal opinion.

"The number of tribes that have been hit by orcs now stands at quite a few. Those people who were robbed of their village have no idea where they're going. The neighboring tribes are accepting them, but they can't handle them all. We decided to create a shelter there. We need somewhere they can live in peace."

Gargantuar had a bad feeling.

"We must secure a place for that, but as you know, there is no place like that in the Great Forest. That's where we looked at Raven's village."

"... Raven?

The rival chief told me to stare at the gargantuar, not to mention this.

"Raven is a nickname for hagremon. They're all over this big forest. My ex was one of us, so I've been spilling my eyes till now, but I can't say that in this situation. We need to take one of their villages in order to create a shelter."

"No way...?

"I don't think so. We decided to make the village your brother owns. We will raid the village in the next few days and expel them from this forest."

Rather than raiding my brother's village... no, it's not just my brother. Mani's mother lives there too. He protested that he was very unbearable.

"Why!? Because I skipped the council of chiefs? I'm sorry about that, but it's terrible to decide unilaterally without asking my opinion!!

But the rival chief shook his head with a reluctant face.

"No, I'm sure that's a little bit of a problem, but there are other reasons. In fact, your brother's village didn't reward the neighboring village even though Oannes was near it."

"What!?

"Failure to do so damaged another tribe, not Raven. We can't forgive this injustice."

"Is that true?

Gargantuar asked bewildered that it was unbelievable, but the rival chief nodded to the hawk over and over again.

"Originally, people like Raven didn't want to be tied to the village code and ran away. It would be no wonder that this happened in a settlement where such people gathered. However, in the current situation, I don't want you to stay in the big forest. In order for our Wesen society (Wallachia) to survive, we need them to leave. Even if you turn your heart into a demon."

Gargantuar couldn't say anything back to his words. The rival chief seems to have received an answer, seemingly boring, and with a slightly guilty tone, he kept turning his head.

"You will participate in Raven's assault. That's the penalty for skipping the Council of Chiefs."

When the rival chief said so, he returned to the neighboring village, where he had already gathered his strength for the raid.
