The cost of pain

When the orcs were confirmed to exist and the big forest became noisy in Russia, the city of Raven still lived calm days as usual, unaware of the orc disturbances. Mani's mother used to spend every day in the city's pharmacy sweating through her labor.

Raven's settlement was one in which each of the people who lived there lived together to find what they could do. For example, hagremon flowing from other veterinarian settlements like bees earned foreign currency by hunting prey to get rid of the wonders around the city, mixed non-combatants like mani mothers, public services everywhere in human settlements, and deals with lizard traders coming from outside the town.

The ideal settlement was Raven's, where beasts and bloodthirsty people could then live with respect for each other. But he could not understand it, and was called Hagremon by the beasts, and Josomon by man, and was despised. After all, they only think they're losers who have fled somewhere.

Overwhelmed by that fact, there were those who were infidel without work until they came to Raven's settlement. Kaku, Mani's mother was one of them. But then one day they realize they're supported and move out of the dark cave. And I know because I saw the bottom of it. The truth is that if low-level beasts, mixed blood, and humans live to compensate for what they lack, they will be able to live much richer than pureblooded settlements.

In fact, the city of Raven where she lived was more splendid than any other Wesen settlement. She hoped that one day the gargantuars would realize it and create a society where people like herself could embrace and work together, without paying attention to pure blood.

But that hope will soon be extinguished.

That afternoon, Mani's mother was sorting out the store's inventory. Previously, when fever patients appeared in the village of Gargantuar, the Feng came to help them, refining the special effects they acquired at that time and distributing them to the Adventurers Guild in the Great Forest.

Because of this, the city that was monopolizing the medicine was hit hard... One day, a lizard merchant came along and made it possible for the Adventurer Alliance to handle the new medicine in Raven's city. Apparently, Feng was expecting this, and he took care not to disturb the city's revenue balance.

Thanks to this, Raven will now harvest the bark of Kina and lizard traders will prepare it for sale in the villages. She thought all humans were mean, but some of them were fine. I was glad that the honorable man was with Mani.

While Mani's mother was thinking about that, it was time to gaze at the city from the shop, wondering what Mani was doing now.

"Oh, my God! Oh, my God!"

and a werewolf ran away. It is a bee that has recently flowed from the village of Gargantuar and has become a watchdog for the village. High-pressure, manicured mothers didn't like it very much, but it was a popular man among young women who thought it was wild.

As the bees jumped into the chief's house, Pantaguer the chief soon appeared from within. He was Gargantuar's brother, a man who met Mani's uncle, and she couldn't get her head up because she had a saved past.

When the chief came out, he shouted loudly at the people gathered in the square of the city.

"Everybody, listen up! I don't know, but the city is surrounded! They're not monsters, they're beasts! They're just people I've never seen before, and they're asking us to get out of here! Of course I refuse, but I don't have enough manpower! Bring weapons if you can fight!!

The chief's words upset the people of the city. Why would a beast attack us? We haven't done anything... but I can't tell you to leave. I suppose they hate such tyrannical beasts, and they've come this far. It's not a joke to be kicked out again.

Such a rebellion against the Wesen society set their hearts on fire. Raven and the others responded to the chief's call and took their weapons. But they were so brave. When they left their anger to run to the entrance and exit of the village, there was an unimaginable gathering of beasts.

One-on-one is no match for a beast. I can't beat you, even if it's two against one. Yet more beasts were gathered around the village than themselves. No one knows what he's thinking, let him stare at the beast-specific feeling of oppression.

As the chief said he had never seen, it was not a neighboring tribe, but just something from afar. Not only the werewolves, who make up the majority of the forest, but also rabbits, cats, and lizards. It was as if all the tribes of the Great Forest had ended here.

Everything wasn't always wrong. Nobody wanted to do such a nasty job, so there were actually beasts gathered from all over the Great Forest, like a joint responsibility. So it was inevitable that there was a gargantuar among them.

Pantagluel was overwhelmingly upset about being surrounded by so many beasts at first. He was so frightened that he was about to abandon the townsfolk and flee, even though he was a chief. But what aroused his mind was that he had a hate brother there.

When he found the face he saw in the herd of beasts surrounding the city, he decided that it was all his fault that was causing all this trouble, and he stuck around with his teeth tight.

"You... gargantuar! You made your face right in front of me! No, the people of the city are scared, get out of here!

However, without being frightened by the quarrelling pantaguer, Gargantuar stared at his brother without breaking his cool expression and said instead of greeting him.

"No, you're out, Raven."

"What!?

"As you can see. We've gathered to get you out of here. I don't condone what I face. Get out of here or come on!

Pantaguel jumped at his brother with rage at the words. But sadly, there was a huge difference in power between the brothers. Gargantuar easily defeats his brother as if he were a sticky bug, looking down at him lying on the ground without power.

"Now, which one is next? Call me from someone who's complaining!

The people of the city, gathered in the unquestioned line, were upset. Needless to say, there is no chance of winning where they face. After all, the chief was supposed to be the strongest beast in the city. None of them had the courage to confront the beast whom he was treated as a child. What's more, even the vigilante bees hired for these times are shrinking in fear of their usual strength. Seeing the pathetic figure, despair ran over the people of the city.

But... a woman jumped out of it. Mani's mother expected him to do something when she saw Gargantuar. However, the opposite happened to the expectation and confused her, rushing to negotiate directly with the man she once loved.

"Wait! Gargantuar, why are you doing this? You don't want to do anything kind that hurts someone like this unilaterally. And does Mani know about this? Can you keep your chest up and tell him?

This also seemed to upset the boulder gargantuar. He was prepared for this to happen before he came here. However, the degree of impact was still different between imagination and reality.

He was stuck by the woman he once loved and thought he could face his beloved son, and his heart broke for a moment. But as soon as he remembered the villagers, he bit his back teeth and threw at the mother of a clinging mani.

"Shut up! If you want to know why, I'll tell you! You Raven didn't report a demon tribe coming out of the river in the water! That's what caused the damage to the nearby villages! If you can do it, the villagers who had nothing to do with it are dead! This will never be allowed!!

The rival chief continued to advance, as if to echo Gargantuar's voice.

"Yes! Originally, you were on this land because we were merciful. And yet, instead of helping us, you've done us harm. I can't keep you here any longer. Eliminate anything that does not follow the rules of the Great Forest!

"No more questions, get out of here as soon as you can!" "If you don't, die! - You guys are bad!

The voices of rival chiefs made it possible for the beasts surrounding the city to jump in without question. Raven, who had gathered for the protest, was driven to scatter the spider's children without a clue. Those who tried to escape into the building were dragged out, and the house where the locks were closed and the castle was set on fire. The old man and children were relentlessly chased away until they left the city.

When Raven knew that the Beasts were serious, he realized that the resistance was meaningless and fled the city in despair. The scattered ones lurked in the shade of the woods and trembled as they heard the screams from the city where they lived until just now.

As the sun set, Raven and the others fled apart to regain a little calm and gradually merged to discuss their response. It was about a kilometer from the city and not far from it, but the Beasts just kept kicking Raven out of the city and didn't seem to follow him there.

The beasts were still occupying the city, and it seemed they were turning back when they found those who went to see what was going on. I wonder if there will ever be any more determination to let you come back here. So, if we try to build another village, we'll be chased and kicked out. Raven and the others lamented their misfortune.

But if you let the Beasts tell you that, you deserve it. When they chased Raven, they said it was your fault. It would have been necessary to suppress their conscience, but even those who were exposed to the word could not have abandoned it.

The evicted Raven took a breath and crammed into the chief, who was dying because he couldn't protect the city.

"Pantagluel, is it true what they said? Even though a demon tribe appeared in the vicinity, it was left without anyone knowing....."

The chief is silent as if he were evil. On his behalf, a young man who was attacked by the demon tribe came forward and said.

"It is true that the demon tribe has emerged. I was abducted and nearly killed by a demon tribe, and I was saved by a group of adventurers. They should have come to the village and reported it to Pantagluel...."

"Speaking of which, for a while, I didn't want to go near that water station, and there was a touch... I can't believe that was happening."

The sharp gaze of the people of the city is pierced. When the chief, who was in a state of rest, regained his gaze, he realized that he was being hunted down, and began to make excuses in haste.

"That's not true! They said that the adventurers would help us defeat the demon race. That's why I didn't do anything, but when they got the medicine, they broke their promise and left."

"Yes, they're bad!

The bees followed him loudly, echoing the words of Pantaguel. In the daytime, he was afraid of the Beasts and couldn't do anything, and he was buying a cage from the people. As if to reclaim it, he shouted that he would march in front of Raven.

"The adventurer came from the village of Gargantuar! And today, Gargantuar attacked. Maybe they were after this from the beginning!?

Raven and the others are upset. Certainly, judging by the situation alone, it doesn't look that way. However, Mani's mother spoke out in a hurry to dispel the bee's words.

"Wait! They didn't make that promise. Besides, aren't the chiefs the ones who refused to receive the medicine? And yet, they didn't resent it, and even after they got the medicine, they turned to me through the Adventurer Alliance to make sure the city wasn't in trouble. You can find out as soon as you go to the guild and check it out. I don't think those people would do anything that could get us into trouble."

"Shut up, shut up!

"Haah!

But the bees waved violence to silence her so as to block her words. Suddenly the mother of the mani, who had been beaten on the side, rolled down to the ground without strength. Tension runs between Raven and the others. The bees are weak, but strong in Raven. You can't defy this eclamptic man in this situation.

The bees said to Raven, who strayed in awe.

"They kicked me out of Gargantuar's village. I know better than anyone that he is a clever, evil man. He must have set us up again with a cowardly hand!

Pantaguer follows such a one-sided claim by the bees. He could no longer shape himself to restore his honor.

"... that's right. The bees are right. The adventurer said they would take care of it. And yet, today, Gargantuar arrived. Besides, the woman there was a gargantuar woman. Maybe they were all glued."

"Oh no! No!

Mani's mother tried to disagree, but the bees soon pinned her down and she couldn't do anything. And when the chief saw it,

"We got caught in a gargantuar. He was plotting to steal our city from the start. That's why I had to."

"There can't be such a clever beast... if they were so clever, we would have interacted more with them and this wouldn't have happened."

Someone murmured as if they were stunned. Pantaguel could not contest the words, and swallowed them, but the bees, which ran their eyes bloody in place of the chief, jumped out in front of everyone.

"Who was that? The one who complains, get out front and say it clearly!

There was no one to face the intimidating bees, and Raven and the others stared at the ground and kept silent. As someone just said, I can't talk to the Beast. I don't know how this happened... but there was nowhere else to say such a thing with courage.

The bees gained momentum with no objection and continued to excel.

"Gargantuar took everything from us. I can't forgive this! We can't just do it. Now let's give Gargantuar a shot. That's right! If you get hit, do it again!

Pantaguel, a boulder, began to puzzle the bees. The bees are gargantuar... and even the feelings of phoenix hatred are too early to distinguish between delusion and reality anymore. The chief tried to calm the young man down, beating him earlier and toned him down.

"No, wait, bees. If you say you're going to do it again, how are you going to do it again? If I could do that, this wouldn't be happening right now."

"Pantagluel! You're a coward too!?

"There's nothing to be timid about. You and I are the only ones here who can fight Gargantuar? Can you beat Gargantuar?"

That's how the bees swallowed their words. He was traumatized by what Gargantuar did so much before. I can't forget. He was thrown out of the village because of it and spent many nights sleepless.

That said, we can't just stand back and shut up while we're robbed of our city. Where should I go from here? You'll see why the people of Raven lived secretly in the woods.

They had no place to go from the beginning. Well then, I guess I'll have to rot like this....

Looks like you're in trouble.

And then.....

Raven and the others were completely indifferent to the roar of the heating bees. Behind them suddenly a deaf voice suddenly overheard them.

"Don't be so surprised. I am not your enemy. I'm on your side."

"Who are you!?

Pantaguer, who was still holding back as chief, jumped out to protect the upset Raven. Towards him, a man slowly emerged from the darkness of the forest.

"Good evening, Raven. I am late, I am Pizarro from the Holy Empire. I was investigating this forest a little bit, but at that time, I was irrationally witnessing you Raven being attacked by the Beasts... I was being outraged. That kind of behavior is very unacceptable. If you're thinking of revenge, could you let me help you?"

"Co-operation...?

And Pizarro smiled,

"After all, I am a savage, such as a beast. We are not enemies of the Empire. With the weapons we provide, you will be able to fight the Beast on an equal footing."

"Weapon, weapon... can we beat them with that?

"Yes, with weapons and tactics, there can be no defeat. And even if it happens, I have an absolute trump card."

Pizarro said so, and two priests appeared behind him without trying to hide their sleepy expressions. There is a stir between Raven and the others.

"If you stand up with weapons, they will be your guardians to protect you."

"Is that true!?

Pantaguel, who had been trying to stop the bees before, was now willing to join him and avenge Gargantuar. He had been reluctant to show his brother, not because of the love of his relatives, but simply because of the difference in his power.

If he defeats Gargantuar and becomes chief... his eyes glow suspiciously. Pizarro did not miss the reaction of Pantaguel.

"Of course it's true. Me and them are close. Mr. Permel, Mr. Diogenes."

When Pizarro called out his name, the two priests looked deeply uncomfortable.

"... Pizarro is right. If you want, we can help you."

When the priests agreed, there was a stir between Raven and me.

"Are you sure the priests will help us?" "You can win, you can win!?" "That gargantuar bastard..." "Do it again if you get hit! That's the rules of this forest!

There's a light in their eyes... and a flame of vengeance. To put it bluntly, the eviction of the city began when their chief did not report on the demons. But Raven and the others forgot about it and someday their heads were filled with revenge on Gargantuar.

People seem to feel the pain of being taken more strongly than the joy of getting something. Even if they were flawed, the memory of being taken away is deeply engraved in their hearts. Gargantuar... the beasts were doing it wrong, of course. They were so strong that they couldn't think of what they could take away from them.

They will soon pay for the money.
