Chapter 259: Donation
Julian Faulkner glanced at Vance Wyatt’s retreating back, then turned to look at Vivian Lowell and couldn’t help but ask, "Why is he so happy?"
He hadn’t even given his assistant a good look, yet Vance was still skipping away so joyfully. Could it be that he had a great time chatting with Vivian just now?
Thinking of this, Julian became even less pleased.
Seeing Julian frowning slightly, Vivian guessed what was on his mind and explained with a smile, "His good mood has nothing to do with me.
"It’s just that I treated the company to drinks today, and Finn happened to order Vance a cup of his favorite green grape slushie. See, what did I tell you?
"People in love are fools. It’s just a drink, and he’s this happy! He’s being so silly. Don’t you think so, Julian?"
Julian rubbed his nose, a flash of unnaturalness crossing his face as he let out a dumbfounded chuckle.
This... why did it feel like Vivian was dropping hints about him?
Julian remembered how he had noticed something off about Vance while he was still in a meeting earlier. Upon asking and learning that Vivian had bought a drink for him, Julian had been so thrilled that he hurried everyone to wrap things up so he could come back to find her.
He hadn’t thought much of it at first. But now, hearing Vivian say that, he felt like he was also the "silly" person she was describing.
Vivian indeed meant to tease Julian a bit. Seeing his unnatural expression, she immediately laughed.
"Look at you, you’re actually embarrassed. Here, I brought this for you."
Vivian handed Julian a cup of lychee coconut milk identical to her own and said, "This is a new item, just launched this year.
"We both have the same thing. Pretty good, right? The season for lychees is almost here, and I really love them.
"It’s just a pity that there don’t seem to be any fruit shops selling lychees in Aethelburg yet. I can only rely on this kind of fruit tea to satisfy my craving for now!"
As Vivian spoke, she picked up her own cup and started drinking.
The initial taste was the light sweetness of lychee, along with small popping boba and the sweet aroma of coconut milk. They blended perfectly together, complementing each other with just the right flavor.
As expected of the new drink invented by her favorite bubble tea shop—it tasted amazing!
Vivian nodded in deep agreement. Seeing Julian take a sip as well, she took the opportunity to recount what had happened earlier that day.
"Lawyer Donovan is going to be detained, probably for seven to fourteen days! As for that nanny, she was fired. Just because she was miserable, she tried to pass that misery onto others. How could that be allowed?"
Julian nodded after listening and said, "As long as the matter is perfectly resolved, that’s good. I’ll have Vance follow up on it later. You don’t have to worry so much about things at home anymore."
Vivian nodded. With the matter reaching this point, she indeed didn’t need to worry much anymore. With Julian around, she actually felt very reassured!
The two chatted for a while longer. Since Julian still had work to attend to, Vivian stopped bothering him and left.
Returning to her own company, Vivian resumed her busy schedule.
When they were in Cyrina, even though Vivian had set aside time every day to handle work, tasks had still piled up.
Vivian worked until past six o’clock. As the people in the company gradually began to get off work, she finally leaned back against the cushion, stretched lazily, and looked at the sunset outside the window.
It was time for the sun to set again. Vivian sighed softly and closed her eyes to rest for a moment, only for her phone to ring.
It was Eleanor Rhodes calling.
Vivian picked up immediately. From the other end of the line came Eleanor’s jubilant voice. "Vivian, I have wonderful news to tell you!"
Wonderful news? Vivian had been feeling quite exhausted, but her eyes lit up upon hearing this. "What good news? What’s got you so happy?"
"It’s like this!" Eleanor explained the situation.
It turned out that their pet hospital’s ongoing charitable work had gained the support of a major cat food brand! They had decided to provide Eleanor’s Pet Hospital with a whole ton of dry cat food, along with several thousand cans of wet food!
Of course, the brand wasn’t giving these items to the pet hospital for nothing.
When Eleanor filmed the cats in the future, she would have to do some promotion for the brand, mentioning their donations for the sake of charity.
This wasn’t too difficult. After all, whenever the pet hospital received donations in the past, they had always helped advertise for the donors!
Furthermore, the one ton of food wouldn’t be donated all at once. It would be delivered in batches depending on the number of kittens Eleanor rescued!
A ton was a lot. Vivian and Eleanor’s two small storefronts definitely wouldn’t be able to store it all. If it were sent to the Faulkner family villa, it would fit, but there was no need for that. They wouldn’t be able to consume that much, and leaving it sitting around would only cause it to slowly spoil.
After finishing her explanation, Eleanor was extremely excited and said happily, "This is great! Such an impressive brand sponsor has decided to send us food!"
Vivian agreed noncommittally. "Mm, yeah! We have to remember to promote them well!"
"That’s a given." Eleanor agreed. Then, remembering something, she added, "Oh, right! Vivian, since you’re also an owner of the pet hospital, you have to be there tomorrow when they sign the contract with us!
"Have you had dinner yet tonight? I haven’t eaten either. If you’re free, want to eat together?"
Eat together? Vivian didn’t have any objections.
After a moment of thought, she replied, "I haven’t gotten off work yet. Let me ask Julian! Is it okay if the two of us come together?"
"No problem." Eleanor didn’t mind. Saying she still had a neutering surgery to perform, she hung up the phone.
Half an hour later, Vivian and Julian arrived at Eleanor’s Pet Hospital. They found a nearby barbecue restaurant and ate barbecue together.
During the meal, Vivian brought up the donation.
Hearing this, Julian asked for the brand’s name. Upon hearing it, his brows furrowed in thought. "I’ve actually heard of this brand. They’re very famous abroad.
"And when they were abroad, they were already doing charity work with the foreign Animal Protection Society. It’s indeed a good thing that they’re willing to donate to you this time."
"See, I told you! Doing charity work for so long is bound to pay off!" Eleanor beamed with delight, proactively pouring Vivian a glass of Arctic Ocean soda.
