King of Hollywood

Chapter V Film Companies

It's a lucky thing to have a friend like Claude. So thinking Adrian shrugged his shoulders, the waiter continued to write and paint on his notebook after continuing his coffee. He was drawing a split shot of his first movie, and there were a lot of movies in his head that cost a lot, but none of them had this low cost in his hand.

He could actually go home and paint, but the original plan was to meet Claude for dinner. But what did this guy say to him: I don't want to go to dinner alone with a man! And then he walked away and tweaked him: I don't understand why you always like to meet in this tiny, broken cafe.

Goddamn it, where's this cafe? Where's it broken? Not only is it clean and tidy, the service attitude and the view outside is good, but it's also not like I haven't been here before... Adrian has some unfair thoughts about this cafe. Then he shook his head, smiling. It blends well, plus it's been completely adapted for a few months, so it's okay to not have to bear too much of the past.

“Is this your painting?” A voice sounded beside it.

Adrian raised his head and an angular face appeared in front of him, about 18 to 30 years of age, handsome and at the same time a sense of serenity, believing that it attracted many women as well as men with special interests to the cafe. He looked at the painting in Adrian's hand and didn't blink, looking attracted.

“Any opinions?” Adrian asked curiously.

“Oh, no, it's nothing,” the other side reacted, filling up his coffee nervously, "I'm sorry if I disturbed you, okay? Please don't... complain to me. ”

Adrian shook his head with a smile: "I won't, but can you read my paintings? ”

“Yes, sir,” the other nodded, “although the lines were simple, I could see you were drawing movie shots. ”

I didn't expect the other person to look surprised when Adriatic settled in, and the young man explained: “I've played a few small roles in some movies, so I can almost read them. ”

Adrian was even more surprised and interested: "So what do you see? ”

“I'm sorry, I'm just remembering something from your shots, not what I saw.” To be honest with each other, "I haven't reached the point where I can see a movie through such a simple split shot. ”

“Something in the past? If you don't mind...” Adrian looked at his badge, "Mr. Knight, can you say something? ”

“Nothing to say, sir, I came to the city four years ago at the age of sixteen with a star dream, and four years later I had to work in a cafe for a living.” Knight's tone was filled with the feeling of Xiaoso.

Adrian then turned a blind eye, and Hollywood's famous venue attracted men and women who yearned to become famous overnight. Unfortunately, one out of a hundred people, a signed actor, is already pretty good, but more like Dennis? Mr. Knight spent his days working after his dreams had broken.

But with Dennis' qualities, it should be easy to get favors, right? Adrian suddenly squinted. Although all he directed before he was reborn were small television dramas, with so many movies he had seen, he still had a human eye. Dennis is not particularly handsome, but the corners are quite distinct and have a small personality flavor; very plastic, especially since he's only 20 years old, if you want to describe him as a real person, and Brad? Pete's a little bit like that.

Look at his depravity, obviously what he's been through. Adrian shook his head, perhaps out of curiosity or even just kidding, and he said, "I'm preparing my first film, and I need someone with experience in the show to play the part. Interested in trying it out? ”

Denniston, packing his things, stopped and nodded after looking at Adrian for a half hour: "No problem. ”

Adrian picked his eyebrows in surprise: "Aren't you worried I'm a liar? ”

“You don't look like a liar, sir," he shrugged, "so what? It can't be worse than now, you're not gay. ”

This guy... I'm glad Adrian didn't put the coffee in his mouth, but that makes him more interested in Dennis: "So here's my card. Besides, give me your phone, I'm sure I'll call you soon. ”

He punched a loud finger and revealed a highly unpredictable smile: "You're lucky, kid. From now on, as long as I want, I can dedicate anyone as an Imperial Star! ”

LaVerne? Mel hurried into the conference room and sat down in his seat, sweeping his own colleagues, most of whom looked faceless, but the burning sensation in his eyes was evident. He couldn't help but sigh, and no wonder the company was bought and nobody knew what the new boss would do to them.

It was a little dark to think of LaVerne, who had been the general manager of the film company for almost seven years, and it was emotionally difficult to accept that the company had been acquired. Bosworth Films, though small, was founded in the '60s and has been through a few rains. If the owner's son didn't inherit the company and need capital turnover, how could this highly qualified film be sold?

With the sound of footsteps, a young man, between 20 and 30 years old, appeared at the door of the conference room with a smile, and the angular lines, with an indescribable sense of softness, added a handsome touch to some of the rough faces.

“Hello, ladies and gentlemen.” Young man made it, "I'm the new chairman of Bosworth Films, Adrian? Corwell. I know you're all worried right now, and maybe I'm going to make some drastic changes, and maybe somebody's going to lose their job. However, I am here to assure you that I will not interfere in the business of the company for at least six months, nor will I dismiss any gentleman or lady in this room easily. ”

While it is not certain how credible this is and knowing that the new boss has more to say next, those sitting, including LaVerne, are relieved slightly.

“But over the next six months, I will be visiting all of you, and as long as you get my approval, I don't mind raising your salary. Of course, if it cannot be achieved, then it is regrettable.” The words of the new boss then tightened a few minds and turned to General Manager LaVerne.

LaVerne hesitated and was about to say a few words to everyone, and Adrian's voice rang out again: "That's it for today, Mr. Meyer stays and the others come back. ”

Soon, there were only two people left in the conference room, and even if it was not so big, it felt a little empty.

“LaVerne? Mr. Meyer. - May I call you Ralph? Thank you.” Adrian nodded with a smile, "I've read your profile, you're a great general manager, and if it wasn't for the company's short boards, you'd definitely be able to do something about it. If you could, could you tell me why you were already an assistant to President Paramount seven years ago when you suddenly resigned and left for a small company like this? ”

“The world is not fair, Mr. Adrian.” LaVerne shrugged his shoulders, not saying much, and he believed that if he had read his information, he must have known what happened to him in Paramount, "as to why he went to Bosworth Films, and stayed for seven years, that was because my father had a relationship with Mr. Old Bosworth - is that a satisfactory answer? ”

“Very satisfied," Adrian laughed. “Well, Ralph, don't worry, I said in six months, but ask for the company, and you'll make it. ”

“If I may, could you tell me your plan, Mr. Adrian?” LaVerne asked.

Adrian stared at him for a few seconds, then smiled a little: “Simply, I'm going to go to England to make a small cost film, plan to finish the shoot in two months and later, and then send it to the Venice Film Festival in August for exhibition, so you'll have to help me arrange for someone familiar with the business. ”

“I'm sorry, you mean...” LaVerne looked at Adrian incredibly, and he had no idea that the new boss would be an automated, handmade directorial film.

“You heard me correctly,” Adrian nodded, “I will be directing and producing a B-rated film costing no more than $200,000 in two months before it is sent to Venice for exhibition. And while this is my first time as a director and producer, I'm sure the box office for this film will cost hundreds of times more. ”

“Sounds... good.” LaVerne rubbed his head and said with such a bitter smile.

“I know blank words are hard for you to accept, but you'll see the truth in two months, LaVerne.” Adrian smiles and opens his hand, "I'll tell you a little bit more, and soon I'll be making my first investment in the company, and the acquisition of Bosworth Films is just the beginning. ”

LaVerne did not speak, just watched Adrian quietly await his descent.

“You're a smart guy, LaVerne, and I need the help of a smart guy," Adrian sat up straight, "and I want you to be able to make sure that the company runs normally over the course of six months, especially those networks. ”

Mr. General Manager doesn't really believe the story of the new boss, he's been in the business for over a decade, what kind of people haven't seen. But from the last sentence, he could still hear each other's ambitions, and the confidence that came out of the language could not be ignored. So after a few seconds of silence, LaVerne stood up and nodded: "Happy to help you, sir. ”

“Good, that's it.” Adrian knocked on the table and suddenly remembered something, "by the way, the script sent to the editor's team could be made into a report, catalogued and briefed and given to me once a week. ”

Speaking of which, he laughed: "Don't worry, I just got a little carried away in the script, I just bought four screenplays, and there are two that are still waiting for the price. ”
