King of Hollywood

Chapter iv sheep herd theory

Standing in the front yard of his villa looking at the four rushing away editorial assistants, Adrian's mouth couldn't help but smile. Think of the shocked look on their face when they walked away, and he knew that his creation was almost half successful.

These scripts were chosen after he thought and thought carefully, especially the four different types mailed out earlier: comedy on campus, romantic love, creepy love, and horror films. And three of the four scripts belong to the bright spots that make money, but not much.

Two more potentially valuable screenplays - American Pie and Scream Scream - were then thrown out again when the other side sent someone to negotiate. Both films were exemplary of small, high-cost box offices, and countless sequels were made that could not be seen by their professional qualities, and he added some indicative notes at the end.

So, what's the next response from the big movie companies?

Adrian shook his head and ignored it. Anyway, his purpose had been halved. As long as the four films were filmed and made money, the other half had almost been achieved.

It's just a little bit of a shame and frustration, because one of the first four scripts, the assistant who sold it to Warner, was supposed to be released in two years, by Whitney. Houston starred in Bodyguard. If Adrian remembers correctly, the movie's box office reaches $100 million in North America alone - that's $100 million from the early 1990s!

Unfortunately, he didn't invest it himself and sold it for $35,000, which inevitably made him a little depressed. Of course, this emotion was thrown behind Adrian's head a few minutes later.

If you want to build your reputation as soon as possible, it is not possible to sell all of the small money screenplays, and it is necessary to include a box office over-the-counter in the first few. With a little brainwork from the producer, and the same obscure writing that Adrian wrote in the back, Warner would definitely make a pot full of money.

And most importantly, of course, because Adrian has a lot of scripts to make money from, don't worry about. He had deliberately spent the last three months writing the script to register as a screenwriter, not because the union could help if necessary, but because he thought the union, which paid a fee, could store and keep the script outline for two years.

Most writers leave their syllabuses in the custody of the union, and movie companies often check the union for noteworthy scripts, or possibly even new ones.

Adrian has put in ten script syllabuses that have been busy for three months, and will keep putting in syllabuses or full scripts in the days to come. This would allow him to stand undefeated by the union's record keeping, even if the concept of "Lei Tong” might emerge.

As for what those "once” writers might have made of their lives, I'm sorry, that's out of Adrian's mind. When he was still Zhang Haoxuan, he saw a theory in a science fiction novel that made him quite impressed by the exclusion and mixing of life - sheep theory!

This theory of sheep herds is not the one studying the effects from the crowd. The author hypothesizes a picture of a billion sheep living in a world full of ice, walking together on the ice field in order to survive in an equal-waist triangle; sheep walking in front can enjoy grass or water sources whenever they encounter it first, and the sheep behind can only eat grass roots and drink leftover water.

No sheep can leave the flock to survive alone. The next place with grass cannot be seen on the cold ice. When there is a blizzard, only by walking together and nurturing interdependence can they survive.

Behind the line, the sheep struggle to get the same rights as the sheep in front - nothing more than to eat fresh grass and drink clean water. The sheep in front must first maintain their current position, ensure that they are not squeezed behind them, and then try to move forward as far as possible.

Some sheep have struggled their whole lives because they stood back and could not appear in a more forward position in the team. And the other sheep, when they were born, naturally stood behind their parents, in a much higher position than the other sheep.

There is no justice in this world.

Now that he's reborn, or he can be seen as God, or whatever it is that could have adopted him, put him in a more forward-looking place, and given him a pair of incredibly hard horns, then why doesn't he keep pushing forward?

Perhaps in the future he will set up a foundation to help those slanderous writers, perhaps secretly supporting the writers' union's strike for their own benefit - a far-reaching strike in '08, and several previous strike plans, all of which he knew at the time of Zhang Haoxuan's death - but it would not be possible for him now to give up plagiarism in exchange for the accumulation of money and fame.

Shameless? Absolutely not. But I don't care.

“I'm going out, Mrs. Galen. Don't wait for me at night.” Adrian went outside after a little tidying up, and he had an important appointment this afternoon.

“Okay, but I'll make two sandwiches and leave them in the fridge, and you just have to put them in the microwave for a spin to eat.” Mrs. Galen, who tidied up the living room, said kindly.

“Thank you." Adrian nodded and drove out to the city.

The profession of writer is not as low in modern times as it used to be, but it's not as high up there. Otherwise, how can there be a big strike in '08? A good script, a good director, and a good actor are the three main factors in making a good film, but when have you seen the scriptwriter ask for dividends? Not even writers who earn half a million a year in the writers' union.

Though the writer made it easy for him to break into the Hollywood gate, he would never set foot there.

“I can't believe you got here earlier than I did, Claude.” Adrian sat down in front of Claude with a flimsy look on his face and nodded at the male waiter who came over: “A latte. ”

Without waiting for Claude to speak, he continued to ask in a whispering tone: "Did you have a good time? ”

Despite handing over all his family to Claude, who had been stubbornly copying the script for the past three months, he would still have time to look at the financial statements sent by private accountants. In the face of that landing and landing plot, Adrian had only one thought: this kid Claude was addicted!

“Hey, how can you say that? At least you've quadrupled my money.” Claude's innocent face.

“When you flip five, you can stop and wait for the fluctuations to pass before you start.” Adrian said politely, "Don't forget our agreement, play depends on the situation. ”

That said, Adrian was a little depressed, after all, it was an oral agreement, and in his final words, even if Claude had played out, he could only accept it. Fortunately, Adrian did not mortgage the villa in order to keep the overturned principal money, and he secretly smoked the corner.

“Don't worry, I always put the deal on my mind, you trust me so much, of course I can't let you down.” Claude smiled and lifted his hands.

“My accountant told me that there was a maximum of three months left. ”

“For me, there's at least four months or more.” Claude said confidently and with a bit of arrogance, apparently benefiting tremendously over the course of these three months.

“Okay, Ed, just ask me out for something.” He took a sip of coffee.

“It's simple, I need to acquire a movie company and then direct a virgin.” Adrian's fingers tapped gently on the table.

Claude almost sprayed the coffee out of his mouth, and he quickly put the cup down and looked at Adrian with amazement.

“Warner, Worldwide, Fox and Disney bought a script from me and are still competing for ownership of both scripts, so don't be so surprised.” Adrian said calmly.

“I thought… I thought…” Claude made a few unconscious gestures.

“You think I was just kidding? Come on, Claude, I'm very serious.” Adrian picked the eyebrows, "I joked when I officially asked for your help. ”

After a long breath, Claude shrugged: “I know, but... Ed, you've changed a lot. ”

“Everyone will change, and I told you, from the day I was electrocuted, I was no longer mine.” Say here Adrian waves, "Well, don't say that, I was going to spend half a million dollars to set up a new movie company, but I didn't have that much time and energy to start over, so I was going to buy one. It doesn't need to be too big, it costs about 3 million, and you can have a complete department and a basic network of relationships. ”

Claude stirred the coffee in the cup with a spoon, watched half Adrian half silently, and finally sighed: “It's really weird, Ed. Though reason tells me this idea is crazy, intuition tells me you're likely to succeed. ”

“When did you become a grandmother, Claude?” Adrian couldn't help but frown.

“Okay,” Claude raised his hands, "so what do you want me to do? Open a new account and transfer the money directly to it? Or just help you find a movie company to sell? ”

“That's the best you can do for me, but I need you to give me four million. Adrian thought about it and said," In addition to buying a movie company, I need to buy adaptive copyrights for several novels and invest in my first film. ”

“If you do as you say, your investment in your first film is only a few hundred thousand at most…” Claude was interrupted by Adrian when he was finished: “Okay, Claude, I know you care about me, but trust me. ”

“Okay," Claude nodded, "but if you leave me only 20 million dollars, I can't guarantee I'll make 60 million for you in the end. ”

“Then it's down to 50 million, and your pay doesn't count.” Adrian said immediately.

“So that's it.” Claude stood up after a cup of coffee, "and I looked forward to your miracle, which was true this time. ”
