King of Hollywood

Chapter Six: The Next Goal: Miramax

The strangely shaped trees stood around, and the staggered branches created a scene that looked somewhat strange. If the surrounding area was quiet as a painting and the light was dim, even the bold people walked in it, they would feel cooler in the back neck.

But it would be a big mistake to think that this is a strange forest, and this is Studio 71, where everything is artificial for filmmaking. Real forests don't have such weird places, or in real forests, such weird places are rare, even professional climbers are hard to reach, let alone film crews. Essentially, the style is weird like "Slash Valley," and the story happened again in the 18th century, and the crew doesn't go to the forest for field views, usually a combination of partial scenery and CG.

“The lights, the lights are stronger, and I need a darker environment, a strange atmosphere, which is clearly not enough.” Burton in the crowd clapped his hands and said that a fluttering hair and casual clothes looked more like a vagrant who had just come out of a poor kiln than a well-known director.

Every director has his own style, like Cameron, and he shoots without margins, but nobody can beat him on the set; and Jonathan? Damy, always dressed up on the set, talking to actors over and over again, and speaking in a harsh tone if necessary; Michael? Belle likes to hang out with the actors and look very close to the people, mainly because, of course, he doesn't have the right to be angry now.

So Burton now looks a little messy, and it's understandable how gentle and impotent he is to direct the shooting -- these are superficial phenomena, and if they're not charming and impotent, how can these guys listen to him?

In short, Adrian just needs to see the satisfactory results and how the process does not require attention. He had seen the footage, which was rough, but basically matched what he thought. As a director and producer, he had made several more films, which was still judgmental.

“To be honest, you look great, classic, and with a little Gothic style, you have a mysterious appeal.” Adrian measures Johnny? Depp said they were handsome in 18th-century pop clothes, black coats wrapped around their bodies, and hidden white shirts inside.

“Thank you.” Depp laughed, and while Adrian was unknown to the media about saving Ralph last Halloween, Ralph's friends, like Reeves, like Depp, were very clear. Especially Depp, who knew then was afraid that if Rivan really died outside his club, it would be a huge blow to anyone, so he changed Adrian's senses somewhat.

“Perhaps you can try to play more roles in this area, which should help you.” Adrian looked at him mocking his chin, looking thoughtful.

“Let's talk about it later.” Depp shrugged his shoulders, saying that while his perception of Adrian had changed, it did not mean that there was no separation, and that this slight suggestion was ignored directly.

Adrian smiled and didn't say much, then turned to the beautiful girl on the other side: "Look, what did I say, Liv? This outfit suits you perfectly, doesn't it? ”

“Not bad, huh?” Liv laughed like a flower, wearing an 18th-century, light-green floral skirt with a little lace, a dark, smooth, long-haired waterfall-like drop, and blue eyes flashed a little light, making her look unbelievably clear and unusual.

The character really suits her perfectly, and Burton's previous compliments on Liv's image and story are a perfect match. The only trouble is that she's a little taller, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, so she lacks a petite sense of pity. However, Liv, who was only 16 years old, made up for all this in terms of purity, especially those blue eyes that hadn't changed because of her life and work, making her look particularly pure, and Derp, who was playing, was six feet tall, so the trouble didn't end up being a big problem.

“By the way, Ed, can I have a word with you in private?” Liv suddenly said that Adrian, who was about to say goodbye, picked his eyebrows in surprise and nodded at Depp and said, “No problem. ”

Depp frowned but did not speak, but left after an intelligent greeting. Liv grabbed Adrian's arm and walked towards the back of the scene. Turning behind a tall landscape plank, Liv turned around and looked out the probe, and he exhaled his tongue, which looked lovely.

“Is something wrong?” Adrian asked at first sight.

“No, nothing.” Liv waved his hand, and the proud look on his face didn't disperse in time, guessing what Adrian didn't order out, just asking: “So, what do you want to tell me, Liv? ”

“Hmm...” The obviously temporary girl turned her eyes and came up with a topic, "I want to thank you for giving me this opportunity, Ed. My mom, my friends, Mr. Burton, think this role suits me perfectly. ”

“Nothing, this script had your character first, then the whole story. If it's not right for you, then I'll stop being a writer.” Adrian shrugged his shoulders and said without a shrug.

Liv blinked, wondering what he had in mind, and suddenly turned to Adrian, showing a sweet, innocent smile: “Anyway, I should be thankful, so...”

Before she finished, she smiled and touched Adrian's mouth. Adrian picked his eyebrows in surprise again and touched his mouth before saying, “What an unexpected way to thank you, but can I respond to your appreciation? ”

“If you want… of course.” Liv's smile became a little subtle, and the feeling that he didn't care about anything reappeared.

Is this a seduction? Adrian's eyes shrugged and remembered when she saw Depp chatting with her earlier, her not cold, not hot attitude, what had just happened. He then grabbed the girl's face, kissed her red lips and broke her teeth without effort.

Liv's eyes opened suddenly, his hands rested on Adrian's shoulder, his little tongue also began to subconsciously try to push the sudden foreign object out, but a few times later he began to become obedient, as the other party's rhythm wrapped and teased, so that the two people separated after a few seconds of a warm kiss, the eyes filled with distracted girls some soft climbing on Adrian, a long sigh from his throat.

“Hey, that's not polite." She gasped twice, and came back to God. Liv pushed Adrian, only in tone, but with delicacy. Two faint red spots had flown on her beautiful face, and her 18th-century lady's clothing had a different look.

“I asked you, you said you could do this.” Adrian looks innocent.

Liv hummed and held his arm and mumbled. He looked lovely: “I didn't say that. I mean, if you wanted to, you could respond to my thanks, but you didn't say you could do that."

Nevertheless, the feeling of not caring about anything had not subsided, and Adrian couldn't help but smile, holding up what seemed to touch the young girl in front of him.

“So what do you think I should do? Have a party? Every party you go to is long gone. Or ask you out? I don't think Ms. Bibi would have said yes, and before..." Adrian blinked and didn't go on.

“That's why I refused because I felt inappropriate.” Liv argued.

“Yeah, even you feel inappropriate.” Adrian yanked his hands, "Okay, that's it, it looks like the shooting is going on, so let's get over there and don't let Tim worry. ”

He hugged Liv's shoulder and walked into the scene. Liv followed him for a few steps and suddenly looked up at Adrian and said, "Okay, so give me a chance. How about we go on a date? ”

“We're dating?” Adrian's frowning, "are you sure, Liv? I'm afraid your mother won't. ”

“My mother is my mother,” Liv grabbed, looking at Adrian with some provocation and curiosity, “what I want to do doesn't necessarily require my mother's consent. ”

“Well,” Adrian touched his chin, "I stayed in Los Angeles for just a few days, and soon I was going back to Alabama to make a new movie, so I couldn't wait until I'd done my job there. ”

“No problem," Liv promised without thinking, “I'll wait for your call. ”

She ran away laughing. The figure with the skirt was really floating. A few steps later, she turned around and made a phone gesture to Adrian with her hand up her ear.

“Funny girl.” Adrian muttered, saying hello to Burton and Depp, and then left the scene of the Female Head Valley. He came here first to learn about the shooting, then to see how Liv was doing, and to give her a wonderful virgin, it took a lot of work to select in memory.

Since there were no problems with the shooting, Burton did everything well, and Adrian promised not to interfere with the specific shooting. And when Liv unexpectedly agreed to a date, then naturally he should leave, knowing that he still has a lot to deal with, and as Charlize said, these days have to be very full.

“Summer is also a harvest season.” Adrian in the car muttered so much that there was more than one date after coming back from Alabama. Charlize, who was closing the door after boarding the car, heard the same phrase, frowned and only sighed. Naturally, she knew why Adrian had come to the Cut Off Valley studio, and guessed why he had said it.

“We're going to lunch now, and then we're going back to the club.” Adrian shook his head with a smile in his eyes, then greeted Grover in his car and rang again with the phone in his arms.

“Hey, Claude, I was just moaning that summer is also a harvest season, and then you called, and I think it must be good news.” Adrian was somewhat surprised to say that the call was from Claude and that progress had been made on the latest acquisition.

“I don't have a problem with that, if you think it's good for the company, do it, but let me remind you that after this arrangement, you have to consider LaVerne's location.” After hearing the rough story, he went on to say, "Yes, of course he's worth it, as long as you don't open the check like Paramount did... OK, so be it. ”

After turning off the phone, Adrian had a long exit, and the corner of his mouth was filled with a funny laugh, and Claude began to let go, which was a good thing. With the integration of TBS, Claude shifted the target elsewhere, and after several selections and questioning Adrian, he chose Miramax.

Yes, the Miramax who is currently being partly honored for running independent films because of Adrian's presence. This movie company, founded by the Weinstein brothers in the '70s, has good qualifications in Hollywood, and although Bosworth has now partitioned some of what belongs to it, it is still an independent movie company that cannot be underestimated.

Dinesh had been talking to them about mergers and acquisitions since last year, but the Weinstein brothers' desire to keep the company operating independently, coupled with the emerging AC Media partnership with Viacom and the takeover of TBS, has attracted Disney's attention, so it hasn't been negotiated yet.

Claude therefore targeted Miramax, a young man who no longer knew much about the media a few years ago, and who had his own additions and extensions to the plan negotiated with Adrian. Originally, there was only one Bosworth Film Industry, but as TBS was included in the bag, the new line previously acquired by TBS became a subsidiary of AC Media, so he came up with the idea of integrating the film company.

“Bosworth invests in more malicious production and distribution, Newline collaborates with other companies, and Miramax produces and distributes low-cost independent and artistic films.” That's what Claude said to Adrian.

Adrian had no reason to disagree, and Claude's ideas coincided with his initial intentions. Only then was the new line for co-production, Bosworth for arts and small cost independent films, and the big production had other options, before the new line and Bosworth took turns producing and distributing.

The acquisition of Miramax would not have much impact, and Bosworth could only produce films with medium investment, provided Adrian's vision was successfully realized. Besides, Miramax still has a library of five or six, plus newlines and Bosworth, and at least not a few big companies in quantity.

But there are two things to solve. The first is Disney's attitude. Michael? Eisner's dictatorship will certainly not tolerate the AC media slaughter, after all they have been negotiating for so long.

But Adrian wasn't too worried, first of all, as far as the current situation is concerned, it's good to have Miramax, and it's not bad to not have him; secondly, the Weinstein brothers are both dead for money, and I remember someone in my memory describing the two guys as the kind, so long as there's enough money to even jump on the bar to jump * * * character.

And what AC Media is missing now is the money, and when it acquired TBS, it ended up spending only 5.5 billion, and Miramax was worth up to $200 million, because of the good work and the situation Adrian created for Claude. Besides, after negotiations, Claude and Adrian agreed that Miramax's right to operate independently could be preserved, and Michael? Eisner, the tyrant who likes to control everything, will not compromise unless compelled to do so.

And the second problem is that LaVerne's status must be reconsidered, and if Miramax is successfully acquired, it would undoubtedly be more appropriate for the old independent film company to produce and distribute arts and low-cost independent films, and with the PR capabilities of the Weinstein brothers, and the resources now available to AC Media, it would certainly be much stronger than LaVerne's. LaVerne has won so many nominations and awards, Adrian's films have played a role.

But it's not that LaVerne's abilities are insufficient, and those who are incapable, even if the movie is of better quality, can't win anything. It's just that the Weinstein brothers are stronger, and these two guys can get nominations for even quality movies.

Nevertheless, LaVerne had done his job, and if it hadn't been for him, even with Adrian, the Bosworth Film Industry would not have developed as it is now, so the cage would still have to be.

Of course, all this presupposes a successful acquisition of Miramax, so after another exclamation, "Summer is also the harvest season," Adrian leaves it behind.

After lunch at an Italian restaurant, Adrian and Charlize took a walk around the neighborhood and switched plans for the next few days before returning to Fitch Club by car. Just moments before the appointment, Adrian found a room to take a nap, and then sat in the lobby, shaking, waiting on the couch.

Soon after, a young woman and her female agent appeared at the entrance of the lobby, led by Roger, with a golden, reddish hair hanging down smoothly. Her face, though some with some freckles, looked beautiful; she wore a black, decent dress just past her knees, plus a silk coat of the same color, with a pair of pointed toe shoes on her feet and another sexy one.

“Hey, Ed, we finally meet again.” The woman stepped in front of Adrian, smiling and reaching out, her eyes gleaming with a different splendor.

“Yeah, it's good to see you again, Gwinnie.” Adrian stood up with the same smile and Gwyneth? Patro shook his hand.
