King of Hollywood

Chapter 7: I'd be happy to offer you an opportunity

“You haven't called me since that night. I thought you'd forgotten about me.” The bright sun struck the woman's face through the floor glass window, making her look clear and quiet, the spoon stirred evenly under her long fingers, the coffee in the cup spinning slowly, forming a small whirlpool, hidden in a joking tone with a hint of grudge.

“How is it possible that you were so extraordinary and out of style that night.” The man sitting opposite her smiled slightly, picked up his cup and sighed gently, in an elegant, well-groomed manner, with a different charm.

Gwyneth raised her eyebrows and didn't speak, though she kept smiling, but her face clearly said she didn't believe it.

“Of course, I should still say I'm sorry, it's really my fault that I didn't call, although it's been a busy time," Adrian sighed down the cup, "but I won't forget any beautiful woman who impressed me. ”

“Any?” Gwyneth's eyes spinning, not knowing what she was thinking, stretched her hand to plunder her ear hair, and she looked careless.

“Why did you choose me to play this part, Ed?” She suddenly changed the subject, "starring in the role of the weak, eventually murdered wife of a perverted killer? ”

'Cause that's the impression you gave me, Gwinnie. ”Adrian said in his spare time.

“You mean, I'm the kind of woman the pervert killer sees?” Gwyneth single-handedly spanked.

When Adrian settled in, she laughed and looked at the woman in front without blinking: "Good, clean, soft, this is Gwinnie in my eyes, a woman who is not very pretty but very beautiful. ”

“You're a good talker, Ed," Gwyneth mumbled and smiled, then looked at another spot not far away, his agent bargaining with Roger, and further away, looking at the magazine as if he was indifferent to everything in front of him, Charlize.

“Anyway, it's a pleasure to have you personally invited.” That's what she said.

“I'm flattered to say that, Gwinnie, but I just want to make sure that the person I'm looking at is able to say yes, because the person I'm looking at must be the right character for the movie.” Adrian's tone, albeit faint, was unquestionable, and Gwyneth's eyes had to flash through different colors.

She bowed her head and sipped the coffee as she continued to speak, and Adrian's voice suddenly remembered, "Wait.”

“Is something wrong?” Gwyneth asked puzzled.

“Yes,” Adrian replied, "something wonderful and interesting. ”

His eyes didn't blink and he looked at Gwyneth, smiling and smiling, with a little admiration in his eyes and a little aggression.

“Can you tell me something?” Gwyneth frowned slightly, making her look good.

Adrian didn't answer, just put his middle finger out of his mouth and do a "shush” move, then keep measuring Gwyneth. Top to bottom, left to right, and sometimes clear to the bottom, as if admiring a beautiful piece of art; and sometimes hot * *, as if in front of him was a * * with a red luo.

Faced with this gaze, Gwyneth felt uncomfortable twisting her lower body, drooling her head and not daring to look at him, but this discomfort grew longer and longer.

“Ed… I think…” Gwyneth stirred up the rest of the coffee to get out of this overwhelming feeling, and Adrian suddenly reached over to hold her chin.

Some stunned Gwyneth flashed an angry look on her face as she was about to speak, and Adrian's voice rang again: "Give me a few more minutes, Gwynnie. ”

The tone of the voice carries a request, but also a little temptation, and those dark, deep eyes are filled with seriousness.

Gwyneth's face suddenly flashed with a shy redness, and she didn't say anything more to her mouth. She slipped slightly past her head and looked out the window, leaving Adrian to touch her face.

Adrian sighed a few minutes later.

“Perfect?” After he retracted his hand, Gwyneth turned around, "That's a great compliment, Ed. ”

Despite the obvious irony in her tone and the angry look of her eyebrows, her breathing became slightly rushed when she heard the word "perfect” earlier.

“I'm serious, Gwynnie," Adrian retracted her hand, but her eyes never shifted, and at this point she gave me an exciting look, "I have a brilliant idea, only you can help me do it."

“Really?” Gwyneth's eyes lit up again, "I... do I know what it is? ”

“Um... sorry, I can't tell you.” Adrian laughed with a smile, a tone and cunning, and immediately after the other party revealed its anger, he said: “But I can assure you, this is an absolutely wonderful idea. Look at you, Gwinnie, your temperament. Your beauty has become an impeccable choice. ”

“Well, I don't understand.” Gwyneth sighed and she had no idea what Adrian was talking about.

“Never mind, you'll see, I'll surprise a lot of people, so...” Adrian's laughing harder, “if you can, why don't you sign at least three movies with me? ”

“Three films about?” Gwenniston revealed an astonishing spectacle.

“Yes, there are no mandatory triplets,” Adrian put his hands together and watched Gwyneth for the rest of his life, "trust me, Gwynnie, no one is more fit than you. ”

After first covering her mouth, then breathing deeply twice, then grinding her lips with her teeth, sweeping outside the window, Gwyneth finally made the decision: “Obviously, I have no reason to refuse. ”

Her grey-green eyes sparkled: "It's an honor to be so complimented by a miracle director. ”

“Thank you." Adrian didn't say anything more flattering this time, except that he held Gwennis' hand for the first time and felt her soft tiger mouth a few moments later. Gwyneth did not withdraw her hand, but looked at Adrian somewhat shyly with her head down, until she noticed that her agent was chatting with Roger in a casual coffee chat on a seat not far away, realizing that they had already agreed.

“I think I should go back.” Gwyneth retracted her hand and stood up and became the first elegant girl, “thank you for inviting me, Ed. ”

“I'm so glad you said yes.” Adrian stood up smiling.

Then, naturally, Gwyneth leaves, and Adrian tells Roger about the three previous films and leaves them to him, then takes Charlize to the car and leaves the club to get back to work.

“Don't forget, you have a date.” After watching Gwyneth's car leave the club, Charlize started to warn her, but she didn't have any expression on her face, and Adrian thought she'd be upset.

The main part of today's date with Gwyneth is to invite her to play the role of the wife in the Seven Sins, which is kind of a good match. Such a job does not require him personally, and the head of the company will handle it well, so Adrian will personally come out with Jogwyneth for a purpose.

Throughout the entire date, Gwyneth's reaction was seen in his eyes, with the exception of the shyness that came out of his heart when he touched her face, all of which were semi-realistic and half false. In fact, the same thing happened at the charity party last time, and some of the performances were in there, but she was doing very well, and basically nobody could tell. So a woman is born an actor in front of a man, unfortunately she met Adrian this time.

So much so that the simple point is that this woman wants something from him. Although Gwyneth comes from an artistic family, her father is a filmmaker and her mother is a filmmaker, and even has a big director godfather, that doesn't mean she can be flat all the way in Hollywood, which is just her higher point.

Adrian remembers at a party, listening to a few people chatting, a guy once said something like that. One of the director's daughters wanted to be an actor, so the director entrusted her to a pretty good producer, but the first audition the producer gave the girl was to take her clothes off in front of the camera, and say something like, "How can you give yourself up for art if you won't even take your clothes off?" (Note), the girl who almost cried eventually took them off.

This is Hollywood, a fancy venue. Moreover, there are too many examples where connections, while important, do not represent everything, are incapable, and there is no use in enriching them.

So actors, especially those on the second and third lines, will try to seize the opportunity, and if they can get along with a miracle director, it will be of great help to their cause.

I would be happy to offer such an opportunity as long as they pay the corresponding price. Adrian sighed with his chin in his heart. Gwyneth is not particularly pretty, but she has a very good temperament and is the same type of woman as Blanchett. Of course, she had to be bolder than Blanchett and really wanted to see them bow to their faces.

Thinking about it, he had to look out the window and feel the brightness of the sun on the partition window paper. Summer was coming. Adrian once again exclaimed in his heart that next summer was also a harvest season, and then he moved his mind to the next meeting. Haven't seen her for a long time, don't know what it looks like now?

Rachel in the living room? Viz grabbed his finger with some agitation and flipped out the card in his pocket from time to time, wondering if he was doing it right or wrong.

“You know, Rachel, I'm your agent, and yes, I'm supposed to get you a role, but you're also supposed to change, aren't you? This is Hollywood, not London," her agent said to her on the phone.

Maybe it was a mistake to go to Hollywood? Rachel asked herself in her heart that she had to pull that card out again and looked at the name slightly stunned. She always thought she was crazy that day, but she just met him on the set, but she went out for an afternoon cup of tea and chatted with him for dinner. She actually took him home and went to bed...

Rachel covered her forehead and shook her head with a smile. Well, she admitted that Adrian was really charming that day, and she still remembers what happened, from Foster's novel to Shakespeare's, and from medieval theatre to modern novels. Adrian and her imagination after watching the Howard Manor movie fit perfectly, talked, learned, had a sense of humor, and understood the woman's mind, naturally stirred her emotions, and then burned more and more, and the last round was unbearable.

Likewise, as she said that night, it was one of her happiest experiences, so unusual that she ran back and forth several times. Every time I think about that night's death trap, Rachel's unmistakable blush, Adriana's unreserved enthusiasm and skill made her feel unprecedented satisfaction.

But that's exactly what she discovered, so she asked him if he had many women. And then she saw the scene where Adrian and Julia went to the lounge, and she didn't have her part that day, but she came to the set.

As a result, the dude was definitely identified as a dude, and Rachel was angry but had nothing to regret, not much to say when Adriant deliberately invited her to Hollywood, and took his card. In her view, he would not be contacted in the future, so the premiere of "Four Weddings and a Funeral" was not attended.

But some things were unexpected, and after a few stage plays, Rachel began to develop into a professional actor until she realized what it meant to have a chance in filmmaking, especially after Hollywood. In London, her trophies, which she won through theatrical theatre, add a little credit to her, but they're useless here.

So when she heard the agent's words, she was half-cold. Of course, she knew what the agent meant. On several occasions, she thought her auditions were pretty good, but the characters were eventually snatched away by other actresses because they were closer to the director or producer.

She had the option of surviving slowly, and perhaps one day she would perform an unknown independent film, but her reputation would be so loud that it would never happen again. But this is unacceptable for a woman who was 13 or 4 years old and had a princess title at Cambridge University, and some arrogant women.

Rachel turned over Adrian's business cards - she was always a good collector. Although she has heard a lot of rumors and gossip about him since she arrived in Hollywood, he is still a good man if you throw away that. Well, it was Rachel's idea of self-comfort that she and he had only met a few times after all, but now she didn't seem to have any other way, so she ended up here.

Knock knock knocked, and Rachel raised her head. The familiar and strange man was standing at the entrance to the living room, smiling at her.

“Hi, Rachel, it's been a long time.” Adrian said in an emotional tone.

“Yeah, it's been a while.” Rachel stood up with a faint smile, placing her card back in her pocket.

“You are still so beautiful and charming.” Adrian walked a few steps and held her hand.

“Thank you." Rachel sighed in her heart, she could hear the sincerity of the conversation, and there was nothing else to do but shake hands, just like the gentleman she had met.

“Have a seat.” Adrian said hello, turning to the door and shouting: “Charlie, please send two glasses...”

He looked at Rachel with a questioning look, and Rachel nodded.

“Bring me two cups of English tea, please.” Adrian screamed and followed Rachel down, "Black tea in the company may not be as good as outside, but it's still good. ”

“It's okay, just do as you please.” Rachel was busy.

“What can I do for you?” Two cold sentences came to Adrian's fore.

Rachel couldn't help but suddenly realise that she didn't think of anything and called here, which... when did she become so stupid? I can't believe I didn't even think in detail... What should I say now? I want a role? Don't be ridiculous. What would he think?

Luckily, Adrian unraveled her: "Oh, you've finally decided to go to Hollywood, haven't you? ”

“Hmm... yes...” Rachel blended in vaguely, just when Adrian's female secretary brought her black tea, and she finally calmed herself down after holding her mouth.

“It's wonderful, you don't know how happy I am to know that you called," Adrian continued in a sentimental tone, his eyes still blinking and looking enthusiastically at Rachel, "I always remembered the girl I met at the" Four Weddings and a Funeral "studio, beautiful and elegant, and that wonderful evening. ”

Speaking of which, he suddenly stopped and revealed an awkward look: "Sorry, this doesn't seem the time to say this. ”

Rachel laughed so hard that she didn't make a sound, she didn't know what to say, but she didn't realize that Adrian was just such a simple phrase that she had already had some good feelings in her heart.

“If only you'd come back in the morning for another two weeks, then there's a role for you to try.” To alleviate the atmosphere, Adrian shifted the subject.

“What role?” Rachel asked curiously, unaware that the initiative had been taken by the other party.

“An American girl who grew up in the '70s, young and feisty, drug addicted * *, yearning to become famous, but living a bit of a nightmare.” Adrian said so.

“Do you think I'm a good fit for this role?” Rachel frowned, but Adrian's answer surprised her.

“Of course not."
