Chapter 443 - 318: Scar (Part 2)

They all knew that ever since Jenny had come to the Crown Territory, she had been content to stay put. She had never left, and she certainly couldn’t afford any expensive cosmetic treatments.

So, how could the scar on her face be healing?

Maria’s face was full of suspicion. She slowly leaned in, her eyes fixed on the scar on Jenny’s face as if trying to see right through it.

She reached out a hand and gently touched the scar, her movement as delicate as if she were handling a priceless treasure.

However, as if she’d received an electric shock, she instantly pulled her hand back, an expression of utter astonishment on her face.

Her mouth fell slightly open, as if she wanted to say something but was at a loss for words.

"Jenny, did you use makeup?" Maria asked again, her face a mask of confusion. She found it hard to believe the incredible scene before her.

Jenny gently shook her head, unable to hold back the tears welling in her eyes. They streamed slowly down her cheeks.

If she were really wearing makeup, the tears would have ruined it completely.

But right now, the tears merely left two clear streaks on her cheeks. Other than that, there was nothing out of the ordinary.

Still in disbelief, Maria slowly reached out her hand again.

This time, her fingers lingered on the scar for a long, long time, as if trying to feel every minute detail of this miraculous change through her fingertips.

Finally, she had to accept it: the scar on Jenny’s face was truly healing.

In that instant, Maria’s eyes grew moist as well, and tears burst forth.

’I’m so genuinely happy for Jenny!’

For years, that scar had been like a deep fissure cutting across Jenny’s heart, an unspoken pain buried deep inside.

And now, it was actually starting to heal.

’Thank God!!’

Maria whispered silently in her heart.

Then, she excitedly turned her head to look at Tammy and the others. Her voice trembled slightly with excitement as she shouted.

"It’s true! The scar on Jenny’s face is healing!"

Her words were like a bombshell dropped in the dining hall, causing an instant uproar.

Everyone surged toward Jenny like a tide, surrounding her completely.

They all started talking at once, asking about the reason for this miraculous change.

Jenny’s face was now like a piece of unshaped dough, with all sorts of fingers touching it gently as if to verify the reality of this miracle. Gasps of amazement could be heard from time to time.

Feng Mountain was shoved to the periphery by the crowd of enthusiastic and excited girls.

Just as he regained his footing, he happened to see Old Zhang furtively putting a dining knife back on the table.

Seeing this, the corners of Feng Mountain’s mouth curved up in a playful smile. He deliberately raised his voice and said.

"Old Zhang, who was it that said they couldn’t control their ’thing’ down there? Who said they were going to cut it off and feed it to the dogs?"

Hearing this, a flash of embarrassment crossed Old Zhang’s face, but he reacted instantly. Shaking his head vigorously, he flatly denied it.

"Did someone say that? You must’ve misheard, kid. We don’t spread or believe rumors around here."

Seeing this, Feng Mountain just smiled faintly, with no intention of pressing the matter.

After all, Old Zhang genuinely treated Jenny like his own apprentice. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have gotten so worked up thinking she was being bullied.

A moment ago, Old Zhang’s blood pressure must have skyrocketed to 200.

Just then, Jenny struggled to break free from the crowd.

She scanned the dining hall anxiously, and when her eyes locked onto Feng Mountain, she unhesitatingly rushed straight toward him.

Feng Mountain’s expression changed.

’If I dodge, Jenny will definitely crash into the surrounding tables and chairs. What if she gets hurt?’

Left with no choice, he could only stand his ground.

He used his own body as a cushion, steadily catching Jenny as she threw herself into his arms like a small bird.

The moment their bodies touched, an awkward yet wonderful situation occurred.

Her chest, soft as bread, was squashed flat like dough by the impact.

However, it seemed to have a life of its own, immediately springing back into shape, only to be flattened again the next second. This repeated with astonishing elasticity.

This strange and intimate sensation left Feng Mountain at a loss. It felt as if an invisible hand had seized his heart, causing it to beat frantically.

"Thank you!" Jenny, of course, also felt the intense change in Feng Mountain’s body. A spring-like coyness rippled across her charming face, and her cheeks flushed a captivating red, as if painted by the evening sky.

Her eyes, a mix of shyness and tenderness, were like a clear spring. She lifted her head slightly, her watery eyes gazing at Feng Mountain with deep affection, as if they could melt a person’s heart.

’I can’t take this!!’

’This is going to be the death of me!’

Feng Mountain cried out silently in his heart. He wanted to quickly push Jenny away to diffuse the awkward situation.

In his panic, he could only cast a pleading glance at Old Zhang.

Who knew the old man would just give a lewd grin, turn around, and walk away, showing no intention of helping him out.

’That old coot! Isn’t this a classic case of the farmer and the snake?!’

Feng Mountain was both furious and anxious, and couldn’t help but curse silently.

The other girls saw this, shared a knowing smile, and pretended not to notice anything, each returning to the work at hand.

Meanwhile, Maria and Tammy were covering their mouths and snickering, standing aside and enjoying the show with great interest, with no intention of helping at all.

’Looks like there’s no hope of getting help from anyone else. I’ll have to figure out how to get out of this myself.’

Resigned, Feng Mountain looked down at Jenny in his arms. An idea struck him, and he deliberately changed the subject to the scar on her face.

"Jenny, what’s going on with the scar on your face? Do you know when it started to change? Have you felt unwell at all recently?"

Sure enough, hearing this topic, Jenny seemed to snap out of her dreamlike state.

Only then did she realize she was the center of everyone’s attention, and her face turned an even deeper red, like a ripe apple.

Then, feeling the subtle yet firm change in Feng Mountain’s body, she shyly let go of her tight embrace.

Finally free, Feng Mountain, as if grasping a lifeline, quickly straightened up slightly and pulled Jenny over to a nearby dining table to sit down.

Sitting in her chair, Jenny furrowed her brow slightly, lost in thought.

After a moment, she spoke slowly, a little uncertain.

"My face has been a bit uncomfortable lately. Sometimes it felt really itchy. I thought it was an allergic reaction to Erica’s makeup, so I didn’t pay it much mind."

"Oh!"

Feng Mountain nodded slightly and pressed on, "When did you start feeling that way? Have you eaten anything special, touched any unusual objects, or done anything out of the ordinary during that time?"

Hearing this string of questions, Jenny was a bit dazed for a moment, a flicker of confusion in her eyes.

She gently bit her lip, her delicate brows knitted together, thinking hard.

Suddenly, as if remembering something, her tightly furrowed brows instantly relaxed.

"I’ve got it! The fire-pit?" Jenny’s voice rose slightly, a hint of excitement in her eyes.

’A fire-pit?’

Hearing this, Feng Mountain’s spirits lifted. He had been leaning forward slightly, but now he shot upright and asked eagerly, "What about the fire-pit?"

With a somewhat uncertain look on her face, Jenny said slowly.

"It’s what Master said. He said that fire-pits are very sacred in China. In Chinese history, they were places where the ancients made offerings to the gods. If someone wanted something, they could pray to the fire-pit, and they would supposedly receive the gods’ protection."

"So what did you pray for? For your scar to heal?" Feng Mountain’s eyes widened. He stared intently at Jenny, his face full of curiosity.

"Mhm!"

Jenny lowered her head slightly, a blush creeping onto her cheeks. She gave a somewhat guilty nod, confirming Feng Mountain’s suspicion.

’Just as I thought.’

Feng Mountain mused to himself, ’It must have been the Fire Seed’s doing.’

As his thoughts turned, an image of the Fire Seed instantly appeared in his mind.

But this time was different. A strange, golden speck of light had appeared within the Fire Seed.

This golden speck was located in the center of the Fire Seed, clearly distinct from the rest of it. They did not merge, as if it were a separate entity.

The scene felt familiar, as if he had seen it somewhere before...
