Chapter 442 - 318: The Scar
"Be careful on your way."
Jenny knew Feng Mountain was now a qualified Wilderness Hunter.
After all, he and Nash had just crossed the Tundra not long ago, and he frequently went hunting there.
So, while Jenny was worried about his safety on this trip, she also knew he was more than capable of handling himself.
"I know. I’ll tell Alvin later that I can’t make it for his welcome home drink." After speaking, Feng Mountain turned to leave the kitchen, but his feet suddenly stopped as if rooted to the spot.
His gaze fell directly on Jenny’s face, a hint of confusion in his eyes.
"What’s wrong?" Being stared at so intently by Feng Mountain, Jenny felt an inexplicable flutter of panic. Her cheeks flushed slightly as she asked instinctively.
"Your scar..." Feng Mountain subconsciously raised his hand, wanting to touch it. But halfway there, he realized the gesture might be inappropriate. His fingers paused in mid-air, and he pointed to his own face instead, a hint of pleasant surprise in his voice. "The scar... it seems to have faded a bit."
’The scar faded?’
At first, Jenny didn’t think much of it.
Her initial reaction was that it was just Erica’s foundation, which she had used that morning, concealing the scar’s traces.
But a moment later, she came to her senses with a jolt. She hadn’t put on any makeup that morning at all.
But Feng never lied. If he said the scar had faded, then it must be true.
At that thought, Jenny’s heart began to race. Forgetting everything else, she hurried out of the kitchen and went straight to the full-length mirror in the dining room.
Her face was clearly reflected in the mirror.
The scar that had once stretched from between her eyebrows to the corner of her mouth had truly faded a great deal.
Before, the scar had been like a vicious, writhing centipede crawling across her face, so hideous and terrifying that people meeting her for the first time dared not look at her directly.
But now, the scar’s color was noticeably lighter. Even the raised, keloid tissue was gone without a trace. The scar now looked more like a red birthmark.
Jenny stood silently before the mirror, her eyes locked on her reflection. She slowly raised a hand and gently caressed the scar.
Her fingers trembled slightly, as if she were touching an incredibly precious treasure.
Excitement surged through her like a torrential tide, but she fought to keep her emotions from bursting forth.
Tears glistened in her beautiful eyes, like dewdrops rolling on a lotus leaf at dawn, and her shoulders trembled slightly as she struggled to contain her overwhelming emotions.
Feng Mountain quietly walked to Jenny’s side, standing with her in silence.
Although he didn’t know what was causing the scar on Jenny’s face to gradually disappear, he was certain the Fire Seed was at work.
’The mysterious power contained within the Fire Seed seems to be subtly changing everything around me.’
The dining room had been a scene of bustling activity, with the girls all at their posts, their laughter and chatter filling the air.
But when they saw the scene with Jenny and Feng Mountain, the atmosphere instantly froze.
Everyone thought their boss had bullied Sister Jenny. The previously cheerful mood became quiet and somewhat oppressive.
"Sister Jenny, what’s wrong?" Tammy approached cautiously, her voice timid as she whispered the question. Seeing Jenny’s trembling shoulders made her own heart ache.
"Did Feng bully you? Don’t cry, I’ll go tell Erica." Maria, who was also helping in the dining room, saw this and rushed forward. She threw her arms around Jenny, as if to build a protective barrier around her.
Then she turned her head and shot Feng Mountain a furious glare, her eyes seeming to pierce right through him, demanding to know what he had done to Jenny.
’This has nothing to do with me!!’
’I don’t know what’s happening either.’
Feng Mountain felt a wave of helplessness, his face a picture of exasperation.
’I can’t believe such a good moment would be misunderstood like this.’
Meanwhile, Old Zhang, who acted as the commander-in-chief of the dining room, had learned about the girls’ heartbreaking and unfortunate pasts through casual chats over the past few days. From the bottom of his heart, he harbored a disgust for foreigners.
At this moment, seeing his beloved final disciple crying her eyes out, he didn’t even think twice before assuming Feng Mountain had bullied Jenny.
Old Zhang flew into a rage on the spot. He grabbed a dining knife from the table, his face flushing crimson, and cursed at Feng Mountain.
"Feng Mountain, did you bully little Jenny in the kitchen? I told you, you don’t learn any of the good things, you just had to learn to do bad things like those foreigners! I saw from the start that you were no good. If you can’t control that thing between your legs, I’ll cut it off and feed it to the dogs!"
The other girls in the dining room also turned their gazes to Feng Mountain, their eyes filled with confusion.
In their eyes, the boss was such an outstanding man; what woman in the camp wouldn’t want to be close to him?
Besides, everyone knew Sister Jenny liked the boss. He didn’t need to bully her; a single look from him would be enough to conquer her.
"No!"
Overcome with emotion, Jenny forcefully pushed Maria away, quickly spread her arms, and stood protectively in front of the innocent-looking Feng Mountain.
Tears welled in her eyes, yet they were mixed with an irrepressible smile. Pointing a trembling finger at her own face, her voice choked with sobs as she shouted.
"I’m happy! The scar on my face is healing! It’s true! Look, if you don’t believe me!"
The scar on her face was healing.
Those words, like a stone tossed into a calm lake, instantly sent ripples of shock through everyone’s hearts.
Everyone knew about Jenny’s tragic and unhappy marriage, a past she couldn’t bear to look back on. And the hideous scar on her face was the cruel mark left by that marriage.
