Inside the cabin.

The pinewood in the fireplace crackled, and the orange-red flames danced cheerfully.

It bathed the entire living room in a warm glow.

A faint scent of pine filled the air, adding a touch of calm to the slightly tense atmosphere.

Feng Shan sat on the sofa, leaning forward slightly with his hands clasped on his lap.

Nash and Gunpowder stood silently behind him, their expressions grave as their vigilant eyes scanned the surroundings.

Across from them sat Sheriff Sean and the biker gang leader, Quinn. In contrast, the two seemed rather stiff, with flashes of nervousness in their eyes.

Neither side spoke; they just watched each other quietly.

The living room was so quiet that the only sounds were the crackling of the firewood in the fireplace and their soft breathing. The atmosphere was a bit heavy.

The sound of soft footsteps arose.

Then, Jenny appeared in the living room, helping an old woman.

The two slowly walked to the sofa between the two groups and sat down. The old woman wore a faint smile.

"Are Tammy and the others okay?" Feng Shan asked softly, turning slightly, his eyes full of concern.

"They’re all asleep now," Jenny replied in an equally low voice before looking up to introduce her. "This is my mother, Penny Cecil. You’ve already met."

Hearing this, Feng Shan quickly and politely stood up, a sincere smile on his face.

"Hello, Lady Payne. I’m Feng Shan, from the Alaska Crown Territory."

The old woman, with a kind smile and benevolent eyes, nodded lightly in response to Feng Shan. "These past few days since Jenny’s been back, she’s talked about you every day. She says you’re a wonderful young man."

The atmosphere became awkward again. Before, it was two sides staring at each other; now it was three.

In the quiet living room, the only sound was the soft popping of the burning pinewood in the fireplace.

Finally, as the head of West Yellowstone City’s sole law enforcement agency, Sheriff Sean was the first to break.

He coughed lightly twice, cleared his throat, and turned his gaze to Feng Shan, breaking the silence. "Mr. Feng, I was wondering what happened to those five bastards who kidnapped Miss Jenny!"

"I gave them a very serious lecture about their behavior, and then I let them go," Feng Shan said with a beaming smile, looking particularly radiant, as if nothing had happened at all.

Standing to the side, Little Tom’s eyes went wide when he heard this.

He stared in disbelief at Feng Shan, who was smiling as he told a bald-faced lie without even blinking.

An inexplicable chill crept into his heart.

’Gaston and the other four were clearly all captured by your men.’

’And they were going to be sent to Alaska. So why is he saying he let them go?’

Tom knew perfectly well.

’Once they get to Alaska, that frozen, almost barbaric place...’

’...their fate is obvious. It’s definitely going to be horrible.’

’Why can’t the law be used to punish them justly? Why resort to such an extreme method?’

Little Tom’s mind was a mess of conflict and struggle.

On one hand, he felt Feng Shan’s actions were somehow improper.

But on the other hand, when he thought about what Jenny had gone through, he felt conflicted.

In the end, driven by his inner sense of justice, Little Tom gritted his teeth and decided to step forward.

He walked up to Sheriff Sean’s side, just about to reveal the truth about where Gaston and the others had gone.

"Uncle, they..."

"Shut up!"

Sheriff Sean, however, was like a lit powder keg. He whipped his head around and shot his nephew a vicious glare, his eyes looking like they could spit fire, and his tone was as frigid as ice in a cold snap.

"You’re not needed here. Get out!"

Little Tom froze on the spot, an expression of disbelief on his face.

Ever since he was a child, his uncle had never spoken to him in such a tone. Even when he was naughty and caused big trouble, the most his uncle would do was nag him a bit.

But just now, the way his uncle looked at him was like he was looking at an enemy. It made Little Tom feel incredibly estranged and scared.

"Get out. Don’t make me say it a third time!" Seeing his nephew still frozen in place, Sheriff Sean impatiently pointed a finger at the wooden door and repeated sharply, his eyes devoid of any pity.

"I—!"

Little Tom felt utterly wronged, his chest tightening as if stuffed with cotton.

He never imagined his uncle would be so merciless in front of so many people.

What was more humiliating was that everyone in the room was watching. Where could he possibly hide his face?

Waves of shame washed over him. Little Tom’s face flushed bright red, and the rims of his eyes reddened slightly.

Finally, biting his lip and holding back tears, he immediately turned and walked briskly out of the cabin.

With the sound of the wooden door closing, Little Tom’s figure vanished from the living room, leaving behind only a silent atmosphere.

"Mr. Feng, my sincerest apologies. Little Tom has been spoiled since he was a child. He’s still just a kid, please don’t mind him!" After his nephew left the cabin, Sheriff Sean’s smile returned, though it looked somewhat forced. He had to maintain a polite facade. "Since you’ve already lectured Gaston and his men and they’ve realized their mistake, I imagine they won’t have the face to stay in West Yellowstone City any longer."

"I should think so."

Feng Shan replied, still beaming, his expression completely unchanged, as if everything that had just happened had nothing to do with him.

Sheriff Sean returned a smile of his own. "That’s wonderful. I was just getting a headache thinking about how to handle them. Thank you for your help, Mr. Feng.

’Filthy!!’

’So damn filthy!’

Listening to the two of them put on this little show, Biker Gang leader Quinn...

...suddenly felt a strong wave of nausea, as uncomfortable as if he’d swallowed a fly.

’Every time I take my men out to earn money, we’re taking huge risks.’
