Chapter 176: Demonic Cultivation Technique
When Felix heard the word "demonic", he finally understood why the Immortal World was reluctant.
Their primary nemesis was the demon race, and for his younger sister to cultivate a cultivation technique that would change her to an existence almost similar to demons naturally violated their values.
Yet, they allowed Guide to bestow a demonic cultivation technique to Mia for her to survive.
As though sensing his thoughts, Guide decided to explain demonic cultivation to Felix first.
[A demonic cultivation does not necessarily mean evil cultivation.
It’s a method of cultivating demonic Qi, which violates the normal principles of Qi circulation, making it extraordinarily dangerous to ordinary cultivators—but potentially extraordinarily powerful for someone whose body, soul, or innate affinity is compatible with it.
The key distinction would be:
For an incompatible cultivator, demonic cultivation is poison.
For a compatible cultivator, it is nourishment.
Demonic cultivation only became dangerous when those cultivator who has innate affinity with it became obsessed with gaining power, inevitably being poisoned by it.
It was precisely why the Immortal World still hated demonic cultivators: their nature was altered.
However, given the circumstances, the Immortal World requests Host to keep your younger sister in check as she cultivates the demonic technique.]
Felix silently ruminated over it. "So, this is a high-risk, high-reward cultivation path.
So, how does this cultivation technique work? You never provided me once about it."
[Because Host is a beast tamer. The way you draw energy to strengthen your beasts alongside the energy core is already a cultivation technique.
Given that you summoned beasts from the obelisk and anchored yourself in a different dimension, the knowledge you gain from it, like meditation or energy circulation after absorbing energy, to reach a higher rank is a cultivation technique itself.
Remember the Fourfold Circulation Meditation? It’s actually a cultivation technique...]
Felix’s eyes widened. The Fourfold Circulation Meditation was the improved version of his Threefold Circulation Meditation after he gained affinity with the fire element.
The four different elemental energies lived in harmony within him precisely because of the Fourfold Circulation Meditation.
The water element’s principle was flow, functioning as his movement and adaptability.
The ice element’s principle was decision, functioning as his refinement and control.
The moon element’s principle was reflection, functioning as his harmony and awareness.
The fire element’s principle was will, functioning as his power and transformation.
It was precisely why his Aura appeared more powerful than others.
Because he developed his own cultivation technique!
However, Mia could not develop her own, and she could not gain affinity with elemental energy unless she anchored her soul to a different dimension and summoned a beast to be contracted as her pet.
[..However, Mia is not a beast tamer and has not anchored her soul to a different dimension.
In other words, she needed a cultivation technique to circulate her energy and form her energy core.
Her cultivation technique draws upon Demonic Energy, a highly aggressive and unstable form of Energy—in your world’s terms.
Unlike ordinary cultivation techniques, which gradually refine Energy into a stable personal power, demonic techniques often involve:
Absorbing highly corrupted Energy.
Forcing Energy through pathways the body normally cannot withstand.
Refining negative emotions, killing intent, blood essence, or environmental corruption.
Strengthening the body through destructive regeneration.
And converting external corruption into usable personal power.
Thus, the result is an extremely high-risk, high-reward cultivation path.
A normal cultivator might need years to refine a small amount of high-quality Energy.
A demonic cultivator might obtain the same amount in days.
But the price is that their body and soul must be capable of processing something fundamentally hostile to ordinary life.
Which makes compatibility the most important factor.
If we assess Mia’s compatibility with demonic technique, it should be near-perfect compatibility, pretty much 98%.
To better understand the importance of having perfect compatibility, Let’s use someone with 10% compatibility as an example.
They might experience:
Blood vessels rupturing.
Energy pathways burning.
Organ deterioration.
Mental instability.
Loss of control over Energy.
Gradual mutation.
And worst, soul erosion.
They aren’t becoming stronger.
They’re essentially feeding poison into their own body and hoping their body adapts before dying.
But if it is Mia’s case, with extremely high compatibility could experience the exact opposite.
Instead of rejecting Demonic Energy, their body naturally accepts and refines it.
Their cultivation speed could become dramatically faster.
For example:
A normal cultivator might absorb:
100 units of Energy → 20 units successfully refined.
A compatible demonic cultivator might absorb:
100 units of Demonic Energy → 80–95 units successfully refined.
Their body essentially becomes a natural furnace for Demonic Energy.
The things that would normally destroy another cultivator become fuel.]
When Guide finally finished giving a lengthy but detailed explanation to Felix, the latter asked, "So, what should I do? How do I impart the cultivation techniques to her?"
[It’s best to wait for you, Host, to reach the Lord’s rank.
At this rank, you are able to expand and control your Aura efficiently, thereby protecting and guiding your younger sister to sense and devour the Abyssal Qi into her body.]
Felix recalled how Master Shen and Doctor Eleanor covered the door with their Aura.
They could actually expand their Aura up to ten meters at most.
If Felix could reach their level, he could definitely protect the process of Mia successfully cultivating a demonic cultivation technique.
Guide remained silent, and Felix had already answered his inquiries.
Since the former set aside the solution to Mia’s cravings, Felix had only one goal until then.
To reach Lord’s rank.
But of course he did not want to hasten Ember’s growth.
Mia had no choice but to wait for his elder brother to be strong enough to protect her and satisfy her wish.
"You seem lost in thought. Are you okay?" Krisha’s voice echoed in his ears.
Felix snapped awake and smiled at her.
"Yes."
Krisha stared at her with narrowed eyes."
"What?" asked Felix, confused.
Krisha stared at him for quite a while, and when she finally confirmed something, she turned her gaze away and replied, "You seemed agitated earlier.
You’re not like this, you know.
Are you scared that we are finally descending the black cliffs?"
Felix scoffed. "I’ve been asking you since last week, but you kept refusing me. Who’s scared?"
"You."
Felix simply shrugged.
He casually swept his gaze around behind him and met the other beast tamers and their beasts’ eyes.
Some were scared, some were anxious, some were acting composed, but their body language said otherwise.
So were their beasts.
The unknown terrified them.
Felix glanced forward and saw Doctor Eleanor’s back, riding her primary beast—the Verdant Pulse Stag.
The Verdant Pulse Stag was Eleanor’s oldest and strongest contracted beast.
It was a magnificent stag standing nearly three meters at the shoulder, with a muscular but elegant body covered in deep emerald-green fur.
Its antlers were its most distinctive feature.
Rather than ordinary bone, its enormous branching antlers resembled living jadewood, with faint golden-green light flowing through them like blood through veins.
Small leaves occasionally grew along the antlers and disappeared naturally when the beast released its energy.
Its eyes were a calm golden-green.
When Eleanor commanded it to release its power, faint circular pulses traveled outward from its hooves.
Given that Doctor Eleanor was also reaching the peak rank of the Lord’s rank, including her Verdant Pulse Stag, the latter established a domain around itself, except it was only less than a hundred meters in radius, enough to cover the whole expedition team.
According to her, every living creature inside the domain, beast tamers and their beasts alike, has their biological rhythm continuously monitored.
Doctor Eleanor also transparently revealed her other beasts and their abilities, assuring the expedition team.
She also conveyed how her contracted beasts covered six fundamental functions: Vitality → Repair → Stabilization → Consciousness → Temperature → Circulation.
In other words, no matter their enemy, whether it possessed physical, mental, and soul attacks, they could be recovered by her beasts.
It was inevitable that they did not feel safe under Doctor Eleanor’s leadership compared to Master Shen and, most of all, Garrick—who was known as a living fortress.
If it was not because Felix and Krisha also belonged to her team and didn’t complain, they might not have accepted Sky Marshal Kaelor’s arrangement even if they had to die for rejecting him.
Once they reached the edge of the black cliffs, Sparkle and the other beasts that possessed abilities belonging to the reconnaissance role gathered information for the expedition team.
Except Sparkle, every beast suffered from anxiety attacks from what they discovered, alarming the beast tamer.
Hearing the explanation from their beasts, the beast tamer couldn’t help but persuade Doctor Eleanor to return to Obsidian Wing instead.
"Doctor Eleanor, my beast discovered that the abyssal energy below is beyond our control. The lower the chasm, the more ominous the abyssal energy is.
We should not continue. It’s not worth risking our lives for the exploration."
"I agree with him, Doctor Eleanor. The beasts with reconnaissance abilities are even scared; what’s more, if all our beasts see what they did?
It’s no use to fight with our beasts being scared shitless."
"Yes, Doctor Eleanor..."
Before Doctor Eleanor could even respond, Krisha sent an icy glare towards them, shutting them up at once.
Krisha pointed at Sparkle, who was gazing at them, and said, "My beast also has a reconnaissance ability. Do you see him trembling?"
Every beast tamer glanced at Sparkle and was taken aback by his eyes and composure.
Clearly, Sparkle could see a lot more than other beasts, and yet he was indiffernt at all...
