Chapter 177: Cessation
Nevertheless, the other beast tamers were not convinced.
It was their first time venturing to the edge of the black cliffs, so their first sighting of the Maw Trenches left a deep, terrifying impression on them.
In fact, their Auras were flickering after they lost their composure.
If it were not because Doctor Eleanor’s Verdant Pulse Stag was affecting the density of the Abyssal energy in their area, they would have long been corrupted.
Krisha was about to scold them again when Felix held her hand.
He stepped forward and said in a calm voice, "We won’t blame you, but Sky Marshal Kaelor’s order is absolute.
If we want to return, we must explore this place.
I know that it’s useless to return if we can’t survive, so..."
Felix’s face turned grave. "We will prove to you that surviving in this world might not be easy, but it’s possible until we find a way to return."
Felix suddenly raised his hand, and Krisha instantly understood his aim as she raised her hand, as well.
Felix said, "For those who want to continue, please raise your hand."
No one raised their hand. Every single one of them was freaked out.
Yet, it was within Felix’s expectations.
He turned towards Doctor Eleanor, and the latter nodded at him.
Doctor Eleanor said, "Since it’ll only be me, Krisha, and Felix who will have to continue, those who did not raise their hand can either stay here and watch us proceed to the first exploration or return to the Obsidian Wing and tell Sky Marshal Kaelor that you got scared and returned."
The beast tamers were dumbfounded.
Still, they stood frozen in their positions, a clear indication of their decision.
They would rather watch first and observe their first attempt to explore rather than accompanying them or returning to the Obsidian Wing.
They were simply terrified.
Felix understood that they had to get accustomed to the sight of the Maw Trenches.
Doctor Eleanor nodded and said, "This is the first attempt anyway, so we don’t expect everyone to cooperate immediately. We will be back."
Doctor Eleanor turned around and proceeded forward, while Felix and Krisha followed behind.
They compressed their Aura on their feet, allowing them to walk on the vertical cliffs.
Almost immediately, her Verdant Stag’s Pulse Domain left behind the beast tamers and their beasts, causing some of them to panic.
Fortunately, everyone managed to compose themselves immediately, quickly sitting in a lotus position to meditate to stabilize their Aura.
The closer they were to the edge of the black cliffs, the more terrifying the density of the Abyssal Energy, making them wonder how Felix and Krisha could endure it in the past.
It took them six hours to stabilize their Aura and finally be able to walk at the edge of the black cliffs.
The main reason they found the courage to walk at the edge of the black cliffs was simply out of curiosity.
It also became their motivation to hastily stabilize their Aura to be able to gaze below without being corrupted.
And the rewards almost came immediately.
To their astonishment, they saw Felix and Krisha, with their beasts, fighting against hordes of demonic creatures with various forms.
That was when they recalled that it was Krisha who gave names to the demonic creatures from the Maw Trenches.
The terrifying Cliff Shadow Howlers, the undisputed terrestrial apex predators of the upper cliffs.
The Razorwing Harpies, the supposed dominant aerial predators of the upper Maw Trenches, yet suffered from Felix’s fiery bow.
Bone Talons, large raptorial birds adapted specifically to the violent abyssal winds.
A powerful wind gushed towards them, flickering their Aura in the process.
The wind caused them to take a step back, but it wasn’t enough to close their widened eyes from astonishment.
Felix and Krisha were not only fighting against the terrifying demonic creatures, but they also faced the terrifying Abyssal Winds from time to time.
Doctor Eleanor could only watch behind them, unable to provide support because they simply did not need it.
They felt ashamed and embarrassed.
As young as Felix and Krisha fearlessly fought against demonic creatures not only to survive but to return to their world.
Staring at Felix and Krisha, they clenched their fists and spent the remaining hours increasing their control proficiency of their Aura.
And when they could finally utilize their Aura to stick their feet to the ground, they spent more time getting accustomed to walking on the vertical cliffs.
...
Felix and Krisha were in the middle of the battle.
Felix and his beasts fought most of the demonic creatures, unlike Krisha.
Krisha was a bit frustrated.
She had not formed her own Sword Intent yet.
It felt like she was missing something.
She believed that her comprehension skills were holding her back.
As she continued to fight against demonic creatures, she began comprehending her way of the sword.
A Cliff Shadow Howler attempted to injure Sparkle, but Krisha immediately appeared and stopped his claws an inch away from severely wounding Sparkle with her Glacial Pierce.
Krisha immediately bent her waist and swung her sword that was coated with an immense concentration of Ice Energy, wounding a sneaky Cliff Shadow Howler.
She saw the wound freeze the internal function of the Cliff Shadow Howler and noticed how slow the Cliff Shadow Howler became, allowing her to end his life with a Glacial Pierce.
She didn’t think of having her Ice Energy slowing the opponents before.
After all, it was just a natural result—her Ice Energy would definitely slow her opponent until her movements ceased to exist.
Cessation... A word popped up in Krisha’s mind that instantly put her into extreme concentration.
She continued swinging her sword, slowing her opponents and finally thrusting it to end their life.
Slow and deliberate.
Power is not explosive, it accumulates, then...
Krisha thrust her sword again, and when it successfully ceased the life of a Cliff Shadow Howler, her Aura began to fluctuate.
It was resonating with her sword, causing the Ice Energy wrapping her sword to be amplified.
Lock.
Her Aura exploded, and the surrounding Cliff Shadow Howlers suddenly stopped moving.
They stared at Krisha in disbelief.
Krisha’s Aura immediately attracted Felix’s attention, who only briefly glanced at her and smiled before continuing to annihilate demons who came his way.
He constantly switched between Ashen and Rain, and her movements became fluid so that even shifting his Intent from Sword Intent to Archer Intent became as fluid as flipping his hand.
As a result, the demonic creatures from three different races could not wound him at all.
At the same time, he would glance at Moon from time to time and wanted to laugh.
He could perceive Moon’s frustration at failing to catch a Razorwing Harpy.
Although she was quick and fast, the Razorwing Harpies could sense her killing intent and were able to fly away before she could reach them.
Moon became obsessed with targeting the Razorwing Harpies, so her prey, the Cliff Shadow Howlers, targeted Ember and him.
Felix and Ember’s enemies only increased because of Moon’s actions.
But Felix did not scold her and order her—he wanted her to move independently.
Furthermore, Moon herself was developing her Killing Intent out of frustration.
Since Moon could now independently manifest her Aura and control it without Felix’s assistance, it was natural that she could begin forming her own will, as well.
Felix noticed how Moon had become mature and developed her own decision-making.
Unlike Ember, who constantly needed Felix’s instructions in the midst of the battle, Moon would act mostly based on her personal interest.
Felix didn’t address her attitude to scold her. He naturally understood that once he was in danger, Moon would definitely be the first beast to step up.
Just that, at this moment, she was frustrated at failing to kill the Razorwing Harpies.
Felix turned towards Krisha and finally saw how she attracted a lot more Cliff Shadow Howlers, lessening his burden.
The Cliff Shadow Howlers naturally sensed that the more of them fought against a beast tamer with an Intent, the more their Intent would fail to completely make them stop moving.
Even so, Krisha’s sword became even more lethal.
Just simply wounding the Cliff Shadow Howlers could allow her Sword Intent to seep through the wound alongside her Ice Energy, stopping their movement in the process.
Krisha barely even had to execute the Glacial Pierce to end their life.
It was thanks to her Sword Intent.
Cessation.
Her Sword Intent aimed to cease the movements of her enemies. If her Aura failed to stop them, her sword would.
When her Sword Intent was finally born, Krisha rejoiced by killing twice the amount she did in the past hour.
The vertical cliff possessed a lot of native demonic creatures, so they fought nonstop for ten hours straight!
Even in that span of time, Doctor Eleanor couldn’t find a chance to help Felix and Krisha.
They remained uninjured, except their stamina continued to deplete and exhaustion was clear on their faces.
Yet, their eyes remained fervent with passion for killing demonic creatures.
In fact, after ten hours of Moon’s attempt to catch a Razorwing Harpy and feeling exhausted, visible from her trembling legs, she would bare her fangs and suddenly, her Aura shifted and would spread instantly towards the Razorwing Harpies.
The Razorwing Harpies would freeze, as if they extremely feared Moon, causing them to stop flapping their wings for a second.
It was more than enough for Moon to kill them with a single leap and slash of her claws.
Madness.
Absolute madness.
Doctor Eleanor thought as she remained helpless for the remaining hours until she felt the presence of the beast tamers behind her...
