Living in this World with Cut & Paste

Episode 01: Skill Granting

My name is Mine. Today I'm 15 years old and I'm an adult, and now I'm one of the adults.

Upon reaching adulthood, children can go to the temple and be given up to three abilities called skills by God.

Skills have many things to fight for, things to help you with your life, things you have no idea what to use for.

And this skill can be transformed into a tremendous ability by the combination it is given.

The heroes of the past are the only ones who have grown up with this skill combination.

For example, Your Majesty, there are two skills you have been given.

It is a combination of [one-handed sword/saint] and [arm strengthening/large].

The skills of a combat system that represents a one-handed sword have stages in their strength.

All we know at present is that it is known in four stages, like [one-handed sword] [one-handed sword/pole] [one-handed sword/holy] [one-handed sword/god].

So the king has gained the ability of the second strongest one-handed sword from above.

And another skill [arm strength enhancement].

Literally, a skill that strengthens your arm and goes very well with your earlier [one-handed sword] skills.

There is also a stage of strength in arm strengthening, and in the case of the King, this is by far the second strongest skill.

By this combination, the king gained unrivalled power.

The king, who gained his undivided strength, has since made many achievements and has become king.

It seems to be the view of the Temple that the more skilled it is to have a strong effect, the less likely it is to be given.

Therefore, it has a strong effect and is rarely given in optimal combinations.

Whatever, I'm not saying the number of skills is infinite... but there is a hell of a number.

There are not so many skills that have a strong effect in them.

That is why the two skills acquired by the King, and their combination, stood out.

The adult children, and their families, take to the temple with great hope in their breasts.

Yes, dreaming of gaining ”hit” skills like a king.

By the way, my parents are already dead.

When I was 10, I died of an epidemic disease.

My father was a good hunter.

I managed to use the trap I had left at home to imitate my father's view, hunting wild rabbits and other small animals

In addition, daily food could be obtained by collecting herbs and other medicines.

Anyway, because I'm a minor who doesn't have the skills yet, I could only hunt for enough prey to live every day.

Sometimes my parents were close, and the neighborhood butchers and alchemists bought me a little higher.

It's been a long life, but I've lived on my own until today.

However, such a painful life will end today...

I think it would be an easier life than it is now if the skills you get weren't so bad.

Depending on the skill combination, it can also be built up at once.

Again, like everyone else, I carried my hopes and dreams to the temple.

◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇

40 minutes to arrive at the temple and wait with a strange exaltation filled with anticipation and anxiety.

Whenever I see the subtle expressions of the new adults who have received their skills while waiting, I wonder, "Didn't you get good skills?"

Imagine, my anxiety grew bigger.

"Well, it's your turn."

In the meantime, my turn finally came.

"Enter the circle there and pray with gratitude for what God has done to adulthood."

I entered the circle as I was told and prayed to speak to God.

In spite of the death of my parents, I am deeply grateful that I managed to celebrate this day.

Then my body glowed just for a few seconds, and two skills came to mind.

"Hmm, looks like you've been given safe skills. Good. Put your hands on this bead."

Put your hands on it, as I was told by the transparent beads offered.

Then two skills that had come to mind earlier appeared in the beads.

That is, [appraisal/all] [cut and paste].

The skill of appraisal can examine the defined details of everything. Pretty rare skill.

What I often hear is [appraisal/age] [appraisal/name] [appraisal/animal] [appraisal/gender] … etc. Even if it is rare skills

There is a mismatch in the appraisal.

You can find out about the attributes attached to the appraisal.

I don't have to bother to appraise the gender or anything, so I'd say this is off even with the same appraisal.

In that case, my appraisal is "all” behind me. [M]

Perhaps this is the highest ranking attribute in the appraisal.

If you're right, you can find out without limits.

I still can't think of a way to make use of this, but I think it's a big win.

And another cut and paste, but this is honestly subtle.

I've never heard of [cut and paste] skills per se, but [cut] and [paste] skills

I've heard of it.

[Cut] is a skill that ”cuts” visible objects.

For example, if you use it when cooking, you can cut ingredients without knives or other tools, and it is very useful to say that you can handle minerals or other soft objects that do not pass through the blade.

You'd think this would be a handy skill if you gave examples like this.

However, this skill is essentially limited to still life and organisms are not.

If this had worked for organisms as well, it would have been a winning skill with skills that would have been very advantageous in the fight against monsters.

Especially when it comes to knocking down monsters and dismantling them, I hear they are pretty handy skills.

The task of demolition takes a lot of work, and it takes a lot of time.

Once the time has elapsed, there is a possibility that the smell of the blood of the monster leaving at the time of dismantling will call for a new monster.

The fact that the demolition will be greatly shortened makes it a very welcome skill for adventurers.

[Paste] is a skill to ”paste” visible objects anywhere.

It can be used as an adhesive.

However, unlike the adhesive, once applied, even the person who applied the adhesive will not be able to peel it again.

For example, if I paste the finger and material incorrectly, the last time I paste it.

It's already a hell of a thing.

Using the aforementioned [cut] seems to make it peel (not exactly ”peel” but ”cut”), but paste and cut

Because there is usually no such thing as the person given being on the spot at the same time, it is basically a very poor user friendly skill.

Especially some producers called artisans use this skill in an unparalleled way, with very sturdy tools, furniture, etc.

I hear you're creating it, so I guess it's a useful skill, depending on your proficiency.

By the way, it looks like [paste] can also be used by organisms.

It's a little convenient for the world to have these two skills together, with the exception of some examples, where there are not so many holders! It is a skill in perception.

In my case, [cut and paste], so the user-friendliness of the paste is also eliminated, so it's better than the people who gave it to me alone.

It would probably be convenient to use.

"Looks like you've given me some great skills with [Appraisal/All]. [Cut and paste] will also be useful depending on how you use it"

A man from the temple, peering into the transparent beads, spoke to me.

"That brings us to the end of today's date, and that you will not be happy in your future life."

I thanked the Temple people and went home. [M]
