Chapter 538 - 338: Silent One (Part 2)
Zhou Chen hastily changed direction, weaving left and right through the falling debris as he flew past the densely packed high-rises. Once he was clear of the tall buildings, he saw a behemoth as massive as a mountain range.
The Evil Steel Giant!
It towered like a mountain peak, its entire body covered in heavy, cold Evil Steel Armor. An aura of brutality clung to it, and its scarlet eyes shot out blood-red death rays. With every step it took, the entire city bounced, and even the planet’s crust tilted to a degree!
The concrete and asphalt giant Zhou Chen had encountered before couldn’t even be considered a child next to the Evil Steel Giant. There was a difference of several times in size alone; its height barely reached the Evil Steel Giant’s shin. Not to mention the oppressive presence they exuded—they weren’t on the same level at all. Facing the Evil Steel Giant truly felt like a premonition of death hanging over his head.
Tier Four. This Evil Steel Giant, like a pillar holding up the sky, was a genuine Tier Four!
A single stomp obliterated an entire city block, turning it to dust and killing countless people. The resulting shockwave triggered a terrifying earthquake, toppling buildings and splitting the ground open with countless fissures. Many fleeing humans fell into them, their screams swallowed by the darkness below.
"Fuck!" Zhou Chen was thrown by the blast wave and struggled to stabilize himself. He cursed inwardly and hurried to get away. A Tier Four from the Star Association was now facing the Evil Steel Giant, and their battle would destroy everything in the vicinity.
But Zhou Chen hadn’t gotten far before a Flame Divine Bull and a Two-winged Fierce Tiger battled their way toward him. The primal struggle between the two great beasts was ferocious; everything in their path was razed to the ground and turned to scorched earth.
Zhou Chen gritted his teeth and pulled up sharply, but a scorching ray of Holy Light erupted in the sky, nearly hitting him. Marvin was battling a great, defiled serpent with six pairs of wings on its back—wings made of countless human hands.
’Damn it, why are they all Tier Four?!’
Zhou Chen was dumbfounded. With just a rough scan, he counted twenty-seven or twenty-eight Tier Fours, a number so high it made his skin crawl. And that wasn’t even counting the Tier Fives who were either already fighting or lying in wait... ’Isn’t this basically a large-scale war with the Abyss?’
He was like a headless fly blundering onto a battlefield, darting everywhere as he carefully dodged the aftershocks of battle that could easily claim his life. Out here, you could really die to some random AoE damage!
Despite his extreme caution, Zhou Chen was still badly injured by the battle’s aftershocks. Slashes opened up on his body, large patches of Light Burns appeared, and his arm was pierced by a fierce holy light, refusing to heal...
The only silver lining was that the distance between him and the Royal Tower was shrinking. Once he broke through the main blockade, the rest of the way became much smoother.
When he was close enough, Zhou Chen took out the positioning device for the "Any Door." It was a seemingly crude, big red button.
"How did that guy get here?"
In the air before the Royal Tower, the Wind Witch turned his head and saw Zhou Chen speeding toward him. The man seemed to be holding a big red button. The Wind Witch’s brow twitched as he sensed something was off.
"Don’t let him get any closer!"
The Wind Witch instantly realized what was happening and roared in alarm. With a wave of his hand, a high-speed tornado formed and swept toward Zhou Chen. The Abyssal Cultists beside him also attacked in unison, unleashing all sorts of Extraordinary Abilities and Abyssal Curse Techniques.
BEEP!
Zhou Chen slammed the button. The coordinates locked, and an Any Door materialized in front of him.
BANG!
The Any Door flew open, but no one walked out.
Suddenly, Zhou Chen felt a gust of wind behind him.
Then, the premonition of death finally arrived, late. A bone-chilling cold engulfed Zhou Chen like a tidal wave. It was as if he’d been unknowingly walking along the edge of a bottomless cliff!
Zhou Chen stiffly turned his head to see a huge, muscular man, bare-chested, standing behind him. The man’s thick, muscle-corded arm was clamped like an iron vise around a black demon’s claw that had been reaching for Zhou Chen’s head!
The next second, the muscular man and the ferocious-faced demon vanished from before Zhou Chen’s eyes. From high in the heavens came a deafening, immense clap of thunder that shook the world.
Tier Five...
Zhou Chen’s hands and feet went cold as he cursed his heart out. ’Just as I thought, the Wind Witch and his group had a Tier Five hiding with them!’
If he had tried to use a Prayer to brainwash the group of Abyssal Cultists earlier, the hidden Tier Five would have surely detected it and ruthlessly obliterated him. Although he had the Power of the Prayer Space for protection, there was no telling if his Soul would have been damaged. After all, that was a Tier Five.
What just happened was even more dangerous. If he hadn’t acted fast, the Tier Five who detected him would have likely killed him on the spot.
He had just danced on the edge of death!
Before Zhou Chen could recover from the heart-pounding fear, the attacks from the Wind Witch and his cronies arrived.
"Break it up."
A lazy voice rang out from the Any Door, and just like that, the attacks dissipated on their own.
A middle-aged security guard holding a thermos walked out of the Any Door. He glanced at Zhou Chen, a little surprised, but didn’t say anything. "All of you in hiding, stop hiding. Come on out."
His words seemed to carry some kind of Magic Power. The next second, five figures materialized from the void—some human, some Corrupters, and some Hellish Demons. The auras they radiated were, without exception, all Tier Five.
"Could you be the renowned ’Silent One’?" the Pope, wearing a crown on his head, asked, his eyes narrowing slightly.
"Ah, that’s me." The security guard nonchalantly unscrewed his thermos and took a sip of goji-berry-infused water.
Behind them, Zhou Chen’s eyelid was twitching. ’Those are five Tier Fives you’re facing, old man!’
"After the Night of the Sun’s Fall fourteen years ago, the Silent One mysteriously vanished. To think we would meet again, only to find that the prodigy of a generation has become a security guard... What a pity," the Pope chuckled, but there was no warmth in his eyes.
There are many people in this World who have mastered abilities like "Words Become Law," but only one person has mastered this Power to its absolute pinnacle.
—The Silent One.
Because every word he speaks comes true, he practices self-restraint to avoid causing too much chaos, no longer speaking and becoming taciturn. This earned him the title "The Silent One."
The moment he speaks, the very heavens and earth will change.
"After fourteen years of silence, you haven’t stepped into the Demigod Realm, have you?" the Pope probed, trying to find some clue from the security guard’s demeanor.
"A Demigod, huh..."
The security guard sighed wistfully, took another sip of his goji water, and then calmly screwed the lid back on his thermos.
Then, he broke into a grin.
"Congratulations, you guessed right!"
"Your prize is the deluxe Weakness package, with a ban on using any Spatial Abilities."
As soon as the words left his mouth, the auras of the Pope and his followers instantly plummeted.
Then, a brilliant light erupted, and an overwhelming battle intent swept through the entire Abyss. The Authority of the "War God" was now in effect across the world!
When the light faded, five coliseums had formed, and each of the five Tier Fives was trapped inside one.
"Here’s a buff package for you guys," the security guard said to the five figures emerging from the Any Door. The auras of these five Crowned Kings immediately skyrocketed as they charged into the coliseums.
’Giving the enemy a Weakness debuff while giving your allies a power buff... that’s like a double power-up...’ Zhou Chen thought, looking at the coliseums. The moment the fights began, the enemy Tier Fives were already in constant retreat, bleeding profusely.
Moreover, the Star Association had clearly made meticulous plans for selecting which Crowned King would fight which opponent.
Zhou Chen saw that the Winter King’s opponent was a Plant Type. ’How is that even a fight?’ The Authority the Winter King wielded completely countered his enemy!
’The Star Association really reeled in a big one this time. If they can kill all these Tier Fives, it’ll be amazing. Not only will it weaken the enemy’s Power, but they can also collect the fallen Authorities for their own use...’
Zhou Chen couldn’t help but be amazed. ’The Prophet’s "go with the flow" approach is really something else.’
However, he also knew that behind this "go with the flow" facade were countless small schemes and arrangements by the Prophet. There were surging undercurrents; it wasn’t as simple as it looked on the surface. In places he couldn’t see, many people were working hard to make this happen.
"Don’t just stand there. Go take care of those guys. Shouldn’t be a problem, right? It’s not like those are their real bodies, anyway," the security guard said, looking at Zhou Chen.
"Sir, you could talk them to death with a single sentence. Why make me do it...?" Zhou Chen said with a sheepish grin.
"Fine, then you can deal with the Demigod from Fallen Paradise."
"I’ll go kill them right now!"
